*19 Years later*
~Hades’ POV~ I woke up in an exceptionally good mood today. The first thing I saw when I got up was the beauty beside me in bed. Her soft auburn hair cascaded down her head, shielding her face like a veil. I watched her for a moment, reveling in the bliss that came with having her around. She was Savannah, my fiancée and she was just perfect. Almost as soon as I awoke, Savannah stirred in her sleep. She slowly fluttered her eyes open and when she caught me staring at her, she smiled. “Good morning, baby,” She drawled sleepily, and I smiled, placing a soft kiss on her lush surgically enhanced lips. She regarded me with a grin and bristled when I gently caressed her face. “Good morning, beautiful,” I greeted back before strutting off to my bathroom for a warm shower. I was halfway into my shower when I heard my phone ring. I frowned; “Who’s it?” I yelled out to Savannah. “Baby, it’s Winifred!” She replied and just like that, my mood was deflated. I was half expecting it to be one of my brothers as today was our birthday but I was wrong. As usual, they were nowhere to be found. A sad smile tugged at my lips at the thought of them. I missed them terribly but sadly, they never cared. As I resumed scrubbing my skin, I couldn’t help but wonder why Winifred couldn’t shift this meeting to another day. I needed the day off but sadly it was already too late to back out now. I sighed again. Today was going to be a long day, I could already feel it. +~~¥~~+ I scrunched up my nose in disgust at the smell of booze wafting through the air as I pushed my way through the crowd of excited men shouting amongst themselves in groups. “Alpha!” Winifred, my business associate, called excitedly as soon as he laid his eyes on me. He walked up to me, and to my surprise, hugged me. “What the hell is this place?” I asked Winifred in anger as I plopped into the chair behind me. I was glad that he had at least chosen a space for us at the end of the wide room. “It’s an auction house.” He answered, looking around. I was about to make a sarcastic comment about the place when he quickly interjected me, “I chose here because it’s one of the most discreet places I could find on such short notice.” I nodded in understanding. “What do they sell here?” I asked, watching closely at the crowd of excited men who yelled at the top of their voices. “Well…” Winifred drawled, “…they sell people, girls or girl slaves, depending on what the buyers decide to use them for.” He replied offhandedly. As soon as he said that, I shivered. I was disgusted at the thought of buying a person for my pleasure. The idea infuriated me so much that I had to clench my hands into tight fists to prevent myself from lashing out. Immediately reminding myself that I was only here for Winifred, I looked away while willing my anger to dissipate. Winifred easily shifted my attention from them though as only a few minutes later, I was absorbed in our conversation. I had been so engrossed by it that I at first didn’t notice the sweet smell that wafted through the air, and into my nostrils. “What was that?” I growled, momentarily stunning myself and Winifred. Feeling embarrassed, I shifted in my chair, refocusing my attention on what I was doing earlier before the interruption. Again, the mouthwatering smell attacked my nostrils, and this time I looked around frantically, in search of whatever it was that caused my discomfort. “Are you okay, Alpha?” I heard Winifred ask worriedly beside me but I ignored him as I searched the crowd. Suddenly, a figure at the podium caught my eye. She was so beautiful, she looked like an Angel fallen from the sky. There was something about her that attracted me and drew me in until all of my attention zeroed in on her beautiful face. From the discomfort I felt, I instantly knew that she was my mate, but that wasn’t the main issue. Something about her felt oddly familiar but I wasn’t sure if it was her wild ginger red hair and glassy blue eyes, or the aura that surrounded her, but I instantly knew that I knew her… and that I wanted her to myself. “Twenty-one-year-old Miss Hailey Levine, princess of the fallen Starlight pack is next for auction…!” The auction host screamed excitedly, making the crowd erupt in a wild frenzy. As soon as the name left his lips, I felt my body freeze in shock. He had to be kidding me! I blinked my eyes severally, but each time I looked at her, I saw the uncanny resemblance she shared with the person I knew and abhorred. But how did I not notice at first glance? I heard the host say something, but I paid no attention to it until he said something else that caught my attention. “…bidding price starts at two thousand US dollars…!” He yelled, making me glance up quickly to stare at the crowd of leering men who were openly ogling her. “Five thousand!” One of the old folks yelled from the frontline, making me grind my teeth in anger. “Are you okay Alpha? you seem carried away.” Winifred asked, but I brushed off his question with a wave of my hands. I felt my anger skyrocket as the bidding continued, with each person calling a price higher than the last. I didn’t care about the ridiculous amount of money being mentioned though, all I cared about was the fact that she was my mate and that right now, she was standing in a glass box while men mentioned extravagant prices just to have her. “Fifty thousand!” Someone yelled in the crowd, making my heart race momentarily. I wanted them all to name their prices before I named mine. I wanted them carried away before I struck. I gnashed my teeth together as the prices continued skyrocketing, but then a lot of bidders had suddenly lost interest. They probably felt she was a little too expensive. “Two hundred and fifty thousand!” A young prince yelled, making the entire room go quiet. It was suddenly becoming a tough game. “Five hundred thousand!” Someone else yelled, making me snap my head upwards to stare at him. “One million!” The prince yelled again and this time, I stared pointedly at him in annoyance. Almost immediately, our eyes met, and then he flashed me a proud grin, one that made my blood boil with rage. The crowd had long gone silent. The prices were fast becoming outrageous, but I didn’t care. I desperately wanted to see the end of this, moreover, I couldn’t allow one of these scumbags to buy my mate. “Five million!” The prince yelled again after someone said two million, and from the look on his face, I knew he couldn’t go further. I decided to strike. “Hailey Levine going for five million!” The host yelled happily, casting a proud look at Andrea who stared into nothingness with tears brimming her eyes. “Going, going…” “Twenty million!” I yelled suddenly, making everyone, including Winifred, turn to look at me. I smiled inwardly when the microphone dropped from the host’s hand and the prince’s jaws practically dropped to the floor. “Hailey Levine is going for twenty million dollars! And she’s… gone!” The host yelled, making the excited crowd erupt suddenly in wild cheering. Before Hailey was ushered away from the podium, our eyes met and held. Blue eyes met Green ones. For a minute, I could almost swear that I saw recognition flash in her eyes before it simply disappeared like it never happened. I smirked as I watched her leave, wondering how I got to meet with the enemy’s daughter on my birthday. What came more as a surprise was the fact that she was my mate but I didn’t care. It was time to exert my revenge, and to me, that was all that mattered.~Hailey’s POV~I stood quietly as the chains around my wrists were unclasped and carelessly dropped to the floor. I still felt a little dizzy though from the after-effects of the drug they had injected me with earlier to prevent me from escaping but now that I felt slightly better, I struggled.“What’re you trying to do?” I asked in frustration when I felt the bulky guy replace the cuffs around my wrist with a dog leash, and instead of giving a reasonable answer to my question, he pushed me forward, out of the room, and into a dark corridor.“I am proud of you.” I heard him say to me, but I kept my mouth shut, unsure of the reason he would even be proud of me in the first place.Mistaking my silence for curiosity, he continued, “Do you know how much that young King paid to have you? He paid a whopping sum of twenty million dollars!” He said excitedly. At his statement, I turned to stare at him in shock. Why would anyone pay that unreasonable amount of money to have me?Ignoring the s
~Hailey’s POV~I woke up with a start. It took me a moment to realize that I had fallen asleep on the floor of the room I had been assigned to earlier and that I had been having an erotic dream there. A blush crept up my face, burning my cheeks in embarrassment as memories of the dream flooded my head.I had seen myself crying, whimpering, and writhing under Mr Hades’ huge sweat-slicked frame. His fingers had glided across my skin, lighting a wildfire across the surface of my skin, numbing me, soothing my soul, but lighting me with a special kind of flame altogether.I had closed my eyes, reveling in the wild sensations pulsating through my veins, and winced slightly when a drop of his sweat dropped onto my face. His warm mouth had circled my breast, sucking, licking, gnawing until I was dissolved in a pool of dripping wetness.I brought my fingers down slowly between my thighs and sighed in confusion when I felt a wetness down there. Was it a dream? Was it real? I really didn’t know
Hailey’s POV “What is your name?” The guy, Chad asked me while the other stood behind him with the ghost of a smile dancing across his lips. I looked up at them but said nothing. Deep down, I contemplated not answering them at all but one look at Hades had me opening my mouth immediately. I rushed out; “Hailey, my name is Hailey.” “Beautiful name, Hailey,” Chad continued and this time, both Hades and the other man scoffed in disbelief. “Brother, you never told us about a woman,” the other who had been quiet the entire time said, and while he did, his eyes never left my body even for once. “So who is she? And why does she smell like a rogue?” The way they regarded me was so disrespectful; it was almost as if they had decided that I was not in the room with them even though I was, and it made me so uncomfortable that I stepped further away from them. If it was possible, I would’ve ran back into the bathroom but I couldn’t. Knowing how unfortunate I was, they would catch me even
Hailey’s POV He didn’t say a word and neither did I as the pretty blonde staff served the food on the table, and then bowed to him before muttering; “Alpha, your food is served now, you may eat.” Hades dismissed the girl then but that is after he threw another pointed look at me. It was obvious that he knew I had lied about the food just to get the girl here but he said nothing until she had walked out of the room. Then he turned to the door too, but just as I thought that he was about to leave, he fastened the door’s lock, threw the key into his pocket then dipped his hands into the same pocket as he leaned against the door to glare at me. “What did you try to do earlier?” He drawled in that low seductive voice of his that always managed to get me wet. “And why were you trying to attack me?” As the questions left his lips, all I could do was shake my head because I knew that no amount of explanation could make excuses for what I had intended to do. I had called the girl up h
Hailey’s POV“I didn’t invite you because there’s no party.” Hades answered, fixating his firm gaze on his brother, Chad, who grunted as soon as the words left his lips. “Moreover, my woman here isn’t very comfortable around the both of you… yet.”“You forget that the ‘woman’ is also ours too.” Chad spat and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at him.At this point, I wanted to throw my hands into the air, wave it in their faces and remind them that I was a person not an object, and that I was right in front of them just in case they had forgotten but I decided against it. I couldn’t because I was nothing but a slave to them, a slave looking for means to escape this hell and if I must, then I had to ensure that I did nothing to spark their interest or attention. While Hades and Chad argued about claiming ownership of me, my eyes trailed to the quiet one at the back, Trent. Trent’s burly arms were folded across his chest and he had a lazy expression on his face as he watched his brothers
Hailey’s POVThe next few days flew past, literally. Fortunately, the triplets were nowhere to be seen and even though their absence made me feel a bit peaceful, I still couldn’t help but wonder what they were up to. Most of all, I was worried as to what they may have in store for me the next time we met and trust me, none of the things I could imagine were good. Today, for the first time in a long time, I went downstairs, because I was bored, to the hallway and again, I was hit with the initial shock I felt when I saw that portrait for the first time. The portrait of a younger version of me.Something like bile rose up in my throat while I stared at it and a shudder ran up my spine at the thought. What if the child was me and Hades wasn’t lying? If so, then why was a portrait of me hung here with the most gruesome scene painted as its background?I was so lost in these thoughts that I did not notice the sound of footsteps approaching me. However, when I realized, it was too late and
Hailey’s POVI stood rooted to the spot, contemplating whether I should leave or stay back like Trent had asked me to. Hades’ anger made me hesitant and truth be told, he was the only triplet I was immensely afraid of.When wouldn’t move or wouldn’t turn back to them, Savannah scoffed. I didn’t need to see her face to know that she was rolling her eyes. With her excessively fake high-pitched voice, she exclaimed; “Hades baby, please let’s go. I have no idea why your brother has taken a likeness to the slave.”The room fell deathly silent after that. It was as if her comment was the one thing that had finally broken the Camel’s back. I turned around then, just in time to see Hades pull his arm aggressively out of her hold. He stepped back, away from her, and without sparing her even the smallest glance, he drawled; “You should leave. I need to talk to my brother and the slave.”“But Hades..?”“Leave!” He bellowed and I could swear that I felt the walls shake from the intensity of his v
Hailey’s POV“You know she’s not meant to be touched,” Chad stated in a matter of fact tone as he stepped into the room, and all the while, his eyes never left my face.I dropped my head and fisted my sweaty hands into my dress and while he spoke, I tried not to pay any attention to him because my heart was beating so fast, and I was trying so hard to calm the raging organ. “Do we have to follow Hades' rules all the time?” Trent answered, sounding pissed. He opened his mouth as if to continue but before he could get the words out of his mouth, Chad beat him to it. Chad snapped;“It’s not about following rules. This is his slave… he bought her.”“And she’s my mate.”“She’s also my mate too but you don’t see me trying to jump her or do you?” Chad spat, which immediately made Trent seal his mouth shut.I couldn’t look up. I couldn’t look at any of them, especially after knowing what I would find. Trent would be looking sorry and would have regret painted all over his face and Chad, Chad
Hailey’s POVIt all happened so fast. One minute I was shitting my pants, scared as Savannah pressed the blade to my neck and the next minute, she was plunging it in. I have no idea if she had intended for it to go this deep but it had and now, I was choking on my own blood with my hands wrapped around my neck, in a silly excuse to stop the blood flow.I could hear screams, angered shouts and curious questions, and from the way I was soon attacked by the scent of two utterly sweet but strong male scents, I instantly knew that Trent and Chad had joined us. Someone’s arms were wrapped around my body but I had no idea who it was, however, I was sure that it was Trent or Chad, because I was certain that it wasn’t Hades. Hades was utterly pissed, so pissed that right now, even in this state, I could see how his hands were around Savannah’s neck as he hoisted her off the floor.More shouts. More screams… that was all I heard as the world around me began to shift. Everything became blurry, a
Hailey’s POVWhat woke me up was the sound of something scratching at my door. I sat up in fright as I felt my way around the bed, then to the bedside table until I was able to get what I was looking for, the lamp’s switch, and after successfully turning it on, I glanced around the room, squinting as the golden hue casted by the lamp brightened the once dark space. But the scratching sound didn’t stop. Now, it was safe to say that I was immensely scared. My body shook as I slowly got up from bed and tiptoed towards the door. Normally, I knew that I shouldn’t even be going there. Hell, I was in a house full with people I knew nothing about, and people I was sure didn’t like me one bit, and for all I knew, this could be a ploy, a way to get me out of bed, to open this door and only God knows what next was meant to happen. These thoughts made me halt my movements and with wide eyes, I continued to stare at the thick wooden door as the scratching continued, it even began to grow louder as
Hades’ POVIT was past midnight and I still couldn’t sleep. Now, as I stared out the window into the dark bushes that surrounded my pack house, I couldn’t help but think about my prisoner, my new slave, Hailey. It has been a routine for me since the past few days as she was all I could think of, all my brothers could think of, and while I sought for ways to help them stop obsessing over her, I realized to my own disappointment that I had also begun to obsess over her.And I hated it.My face was contorted into a frown and my arms folded over my chest as I looked out, as if expecting some miracle intervention, something, just anything that could help me out of this dilemma, but I found none. Another thing that bothered me immensely was the fact that she said she couldn’t remember a thing, she could remember nothing about her past, her parents… Hell, she said she couldn’t even remember her pack! And boy, I struggled with believing that.I was still so lost in thoughts that I didn’t rea
