Chapter 64

CLAIRE's POV

A loud explosion erupted through the air, jerking me awake. I had hurried out of my room to find every witch already at the training ground. We all saw a large smoke engulfing the air.

We were under attack.

I had moved close enough to the empress to see that she had a terrified and yet worried look on her face.

“That is impossible, we cannot be under attack... except the barrier was broken...” She muttered, just loud enough for me to make out what she was saying.

More explosions rang through the air accompanied by blood chilling screams. It was then I realised the extent of the attack. My blood ran cold and my legs began to tremble. Who was attacking? Why were they attacking? Were we all going to die? It reminded of the day I had been captured from Dominik’s clan.

The empress clicked her tongue as she began to take hurried footsteps away from us and towards the battlefield.
