CLAIRE's POV“I said, leave her alone,” I boomed again, just as the wolf turned her back on me.I was trembling, shaking in my boots, but I was not about to back out just because she told me to. I would never be able to live with myself if I left a friend alone to be bullied and beat up while I stood there and watched like some coward. The wolf turned back to me and glared at me.“Did you not hear what I said, or are you deaf now?”The other wolves around her laughed and giggled within themselves.“Why don’t you teach her a lesson Tana?!” One wolf in the crowd yelled.Tana smirked and walked closer to me. She looked at me from head to toe and I felt my knees buckle underneath me. Beads of sweat began to form on my forehead.Tana. One of Sorcha’s closest friends. She was just as strong as her and she was someone you would not want to mess with.“Let’s see. I am mad that Sorcha got sent to live in that pig house because of a pathetic wolf like you. Maybe this is the right time to take o
CLAIRE's POVThe whole woods went quiet and everywhere was still. No one moved, as everyone’s eyes were fixed on me intently. They were all in a state of shock. They were not the only ones that were left in awe. I was dumbfounded. What had just happened? I kept my gaze fixed on Tana who was laying on the floor, her body not moving an inch.I tried to recall what had happened. I screamed at her, and the force sent her flying away from me. But how? I could only remember feeling this build up in my chest, and then it exploded. It sort of felt like a cup that had overflown and the contents spilled over. I pushed myself up into a sitting position and raised my hands up to my face. They were trembling, and so was my entire body. The other wolves called out to Tana and ran towards her. I watched them call out to her some more with worried looks on their face.“Claire!” I heard Aurora call out to me.I snapped my head to her direction and saw her running to me. “Are you okay?” she asked with
CLAIRE's POVThe air seemed to shift and become still. There was a menacing aura all around the air, I could feel it. And there was only one person that could cause this phenomenon.Dominik.He stood at the door, glaring at me like I had done something wrong. What had I done to warrant his presence in my room? And then it clicked. I had shown my powers, powers that he specifically told me to hide.I swallowed and shot up from the bed. Aurora was trembling beside me as her eyes remained fixed on Dominik. Dominik marched up to me, and it felt like my heart was going to stop beating.“You are coming with me, now,” Dominik ordered. Before I could ask why or protest, he grabbed my wrists and began to pull me with him. I looked back at Aurora and she was sitting on the bed, shaking like a wet kitten. I gave her a reassuring smile and Dominik pulled me out of the room.As he pulled me along the hallway, his grip on my wrist tightened even more.“D-Dominik, it hurts, please let go,” I pleaded
CLAIRE's POVAfter the while fiasco I had with Tana, I expected that every wolf in the clan would be buzzing about me, and the powers I had exhibited. But to my greatest surprise, they did not.Everything was normal. No one gave me weird looks and the whispering I had expected did not happen. Even when I passed by Tana, and the other wolves that had seen my powers that day, none of them gave me weird glances. It was like, none of it ever happened. I could only come to the conclusion that Dominik had found away to subdue the rumours from spreading. I was glad that no one was talking about it, or giving me glances anytime I passed them by. I had learnt my lesson, and was not going to use my powers no matter what. As I stared at the night sky through my window, I recalled what had happened with Tana. I remembered vividly, that I did not cast any magic spell. All I did was, scream. The sensation I felt in my chest was unfamiliar and weird to me. All I did was scream really loudly, and t
CLAIRE's POV“So you are saying that you had a dream...where this strange woman appeared to you?” Aurora asked.I nodded as I paced around the room, my eyes glued to the floor as I was deep in thought.“What else happened?”“Well, the whole place where I stood was dark, and then this woman, who was the only source of light, led me somewhere,” I said as I recounted the dream in my head.“And what did this place look like?”I paused and looked at Aurora.“It...was dark, just like everywhere else,” I explained.Aurora titled her head and gave me a confused look.“The woman told me something, she said that the pack house is not a safe place for me, that someone is after my life here,”Aurora’s confusion turned to worry. “Someone wants to kill you here?”I nodded and ran a hand through my hair.“Those were her words. But it was just a dream. I do not need to heed to her words, but I cannot ignore the fact that her words felt so true.” I said.I pondered again and continued.“Another strang
Chapter 118CLAIREDays had gone by, and I did not fail to religiously look for the necklace Dominik had gifted me. Even after looking for days, the necklace was no where to be found.I was slowly losing hope and there was no way I was going to just abandon the search. That necklace meant the world to me, and I could not lose it, not now, not ever.I sighed heavily as I walked down the hallway with Aurora walking beside me. She tilted her head to look at me, and I looked back at her. She had a worried expression on her face.“What are you sighing for? Are you still worried about the necklace?” Aurora asked.I nodded and sighed again. “It has been days Aurora, and I am yet to set my eyes on the necklace. I am getting very worried,” I complained.Aurora placed a hand on my shoulder and gave it a light squeeze.“We are going to find it. You do not have to worry about that Claire,” she reassured me.I shook my head vigorously.“It has been days, days! And we still have no found it. I thi
CLAIRE's POVBlood. There was blood pooling out from Cora’s unmoving body as she lay at the bottom of the stairs. I stood frozen, clutching the newly retrieved necklace in my hand as my eyes remained on Cora.I heard whispers around me and I jolted back. My eyes surveyed the surroundings and my heart dropped when I saw a large crowd surrounding the vicinity. When had they gathered? I had assumed that they had gathered around us when we started struggling and yelling, but I was too preoccupied with Cora to notice any of them. The weight of the situation began to dawn on me slowly and i felt a pit form in my stomach. What had I done? Nothing was making any sense to me.When had we gotten to the top of the stairs? How had she fallen all the way down to the bottom? I remembered how much I had pushed Cora. It was not a strong push, just enough to get the necklace off her neck. Then how on earth had she fallen down the stairs? Had she slipped. I turned back to Cora and watched as more blood
CLAIRE's POV The incident with Cora never left my mind after that day. Image of her lifeless body on the floor, with the blood running out from the back of her head haunted me.It haunted me so much, it turned into nightmares. Nightmares that caused me to wake up in a pool of my sweat. I knew I had not pushed her down the stairs, but I still played a part in it. If I had calmed down, and rationally thought of a way to retrieve the necklace from her.Instead, I was driven by my hate and jealousy for her. Now, I was labelled a monster. As if my position and status in the pack house was not bad enough. I chuckled bitterly to myself as I sat by the window in my room, gazing up at the night sky.The incident led me to become a recluse. I stayed in my room all day and made no attempt to leave. It was better this way. It made me avoid all the whispers and stares that I would possibly get if I left. I let out a sigh and stared at the crescent shaped moon. It was not a full moon, but it stil
