Chapter 136

CLAIRE's POV

Growls and rustling could be heard from the forest all around us. Luis and I had our backs to each other, our eyes desperately scanning, desperately watching the forest in front of us.

Within the blink of an eye, three wolves howled and appeared from the forest. They were bigger than the first wolf, and looked more fierce. I was alarmed and terrified at the sight of them.

They stood tall in front of me, baring their fangs at me. They looked ready to pounce on me, and I felt dread crawl up my spine. I was frozen in place, unable to move, unable to react to my incoming attackers.

“Stay alert!” Luis yelled at me.

His words jolted me away from my state of shock. I looked to his side and my heart dropped when I saw that four more wolves had encroached him. My eyes scanned all around us, and a pit of fear began to form in my stomach.

We were surrounded, unevenly matched against these wolves.
