CLAIRE's POVThe things clouding my thoughts were nothing more than Dominik and Dominik alone. That one scene, the image of him leaving me all alone in the woods was stuck in my head. The despair I felt when he left me and walked away, hand in hand with Cora knew no bounds. Just how much more worse could things get? I broke down and cried that night, the next day and days after that. But now, I was more stable. But the memory remained inbuilt in my head as if to torture me and remind me that Dominik would never be fully mine.As I gazed out of the window in my room, I brushed my fingers over my lips and down to my neck. Those were the places Dominik had touched me. They still tingled and remembering his touch, made me crave more of him.I sighed to myself, a sad sigh, because I knew fully well that I would never get that opportunity again. I kept my gaze on the blue sky. The clouds floated around it. They looked free and had not a care in the world. I wished to be like that.As I los
CLAIRE's POV“Let me go!” I yelled as I struggled, but all my protesting fell on to deaf ears. My arms were held firmly by Sorcha’s minions, so freeing myself from their grip was proving difficult. Just how strong were they?“Where are you taking me Sorcha? Let me go this instance!” I yelled once again.Sorcha only spared me a glance and she kept walking.“I know your tactics. No matter how much you yell, no one will come to your aid. Your friend Luis is not here after all,” she chuckled. My heart sank. Luis was not here either? When had he been dispatched? And why was I not informed? I felt a pit forming in my stomach. Had I lost my friend too? My head was spinning and my thoughts were jumbled up.Sorcha led her minions to a clearing which was beside the woods. It had a large well in the middle of it. I became even more confused as to why Sorcha would bring me here? What on earth was she planning?“Put her down,” she ordered. Her minions dropped me to the floor, like I was some kin
CLAIRE's POVAs I lay on the grass, cold began to seep into my body slowly. I pushed my self up from the ground, ignoring my body as it trembled uncontrollably. I staggered down the path leading back to the pack house. When I approached the door, I turned the door knob, and to my surprise, it did not budge. I began to panic and pushed the door several times more. I cursed under my shaky breath. Sorcha had locked the door from the inside. She really intended on letting me freeze out here.I shivered and clutched myself tightly, in an attempt to try and terminate some body heat. I decided to try again, but the door refused to budge.I began to feel despair. Was I going to stay locked out here forever? I trudged to a corner and slumped down, raising my knees up to my chest, and clutching myself. My teeth clattered and my body shook. My wet clothes clung to my body and my also wet hair stuck to my face. Could I try calling out for someone?I did not entertain that idea. Who exactly would
DOMINIK's POV“Elder Rouna wants your signature on this document,” the wolf standing in front of my desk chirped and slid a paper to me.I eyed him for a while and picked the document up. I rubbed my eyes and browsed through the document. I looked up at the wolf once again and he flinched from my firm gaze. This wolf was the substitute for Luis, since I had sent him on an important mission. He was not as great as Luis, but he could perform the job decently enough to not make me lose my wits.“Why does he want me to sign this?” I questioned.“Apparently, it is a new bill to purchase food items from another route, since the routes we have used before have always be hijacked by bandits, who raid our carts and steal all the food,” he replied.I drummed my finger on the table and pondered on what he said. Moments after, I picked up my pen and signed on the provided space. Once I had signed, I offered the document back to the wolf, who took it from me.“That is all for today. You do not hav
CLAIRE's POVIt was hot, suffocating. I found it hard to breath. I could hear Aurora beside me, sobbing. Why was she crying? Was she worried about me? I chuckled to myself. Who would have thought that someone who hated my guts would be this worried about me?It was just a fever, but why did it feel like my breath was getting slower? I tried to move my body, but I had no strength left in it. “Stay with me Claire,” I heard Aurora sob.I felt myself losing consciousness, I could not stay awake any longer. Was this death? If so then I would happily embrace it. All my suffering would be elevated that way.And then I heard his voice. My eyes lids were too heavy, so I could not open them and confirm if he was really standing there. But there was no way it was Dominik. He did not care about me, so why would he be here? His voice got louder and more prominent. That was all the proof I needed. I felt his rough, cold hands brush against my cheeks and I relished in it. I leaned into his touch fu
CLAIRE's POV“It was Sorcha, wasn’t it?”My body went stiff and my blood ran cold. How did he know that it was Sorcha? A feeling of dread began to crawl up my spine. I did not say a word to him. I kept my eyes shut, in hopes that he would not drag the situation out any longer. But, my hopes dried up when he spoke.“You are not saying anything. Are you that desperate to defend someone who doused you with water and left you out in the woods to freeze to death?”I began to tremble. How did he know so much? I turned to him slowly and my eyes went as wide as saucers. Dominik had the coldest and darkest eyes I had ever seen. The malicious intent and bloodlust oozing from him sent a chill down my spine. It erected all the hairs in my body, like I was being warned of an impending danger. I wanted to scoot over to the corner, away from him, but with his tight grip on my waist, it would not be possible.“From the shocked look on your face, I can tell that everything I said was right,” He said
CLAIRE's POV The days went by like a breeze, and each day seemed to get better by the minute. After Dominik’s orders, Sorcha was forcefully taken away from the pack house, and into the smaller house that was situated beside the main house. It was a place for lower wolves, just like the place I used to live in while I was still in Enzo’s pack. I had not seen the interior of the smaller house, but I had heard stories about it, and none of them were good.According to what I had heard, the conditions of living in there, were terrible. Rats roamed the rooms freely, it reeked of dampness and green slimy moss grew all over the walls. Thinking about it alone, was enough to make one shudder. And that was where Sorcha was going to live from now on.I on the other hand, was making the most out of Sorcha’s permanent absence. I would roam around the hallways without the fear of bumping into her or her minions. The other wolves that followed her around soon dispersed and went into hiding. And so
CLAIRE's POVThe pain that spread through my chest as I watched Dominik’s back was unbearable. He had not even acknowledged my presence and walked past me like I was not even standing there. It hurt.I watched him walk over to Cora and I could hear the conversation they were having.“What happened? I heard you scream,” Dominik said as he crouched down to the floor.I watched how Cora’s expression changed in an instant. She looked like she was in severe pain. I was in utter shock. She really was a snake. She placed her hand on Dominik’s shoulder and wince in pain.“I was walking down the stairs, when I tripped on my own leg and fell to the ground, how silly of me,” she said as she shook her head.I heard Dominik let out a sigh and he looked at her ankle.“Are you hurt anywhere?”Cora nodded.“My ankle, I think it is sprained,” she said with a groan. Her eyes travelled to me and they twinkled with mischief. What on earth was she up to now? She turned back to Dominik and pressed her head
