Chapter 46

Ryder’s POV

(When he finds his mate)

Kaid was going crazy in my head ever since we left Allie's room a few hours ago. He didn't say anything so I assumed it was because he didn't want to leave Allie's side.

I was done with the early morning patrol and was making my way to Kieran's office to give him a report. But with each step I took, a weird but delicious smell hit my nose. And Kaid was going even crazier…because that's the only way to explain his next word.

“Mate…I can feel mate.” He said, and the entire world paused.

"That's not possible.” I argued, but Kaid growled in response. "Find mate.” He repeated, with a sense of urgency that I couldn't ignore.

“What'll happen to Allie?” Was the first question that came to my mind.

“Find mate!" Kaid growled again and I pushed the thought of Allie to the back of my mind and began following the smell.

I came to a stop when I reached Kieran's office where Caleb was standing in front of the door and the smell ha

Chapter 47Kaia's POV Two weeks later, I couldn't be more relieved that Kieran had Laura sent out of the pack and as much as I hated to admit, she had managed to get some of the pack members on her side while I still couldn't get them to see me in a different light. Kieran's mom also left for a while, so in a way, things were going back to how they used to be. And now that Allie was back, she hadn't stopped apologizing for the whole thing with her mom, but I assured her that it was fine. I was already happy that she didn't let it come between us. “He makes me feel like I'm on top of the world!" Allie said, "but I can't help but feel worried.” “Why?" Dani asked, “did something happen?" She shook her head, “I don't know. He hasn't really been present." She sighed, “If I didn't know any better, I would think that he's avoiding me." I scoffed, "that's not possible, he cares about you too much.” Lylah snorted, "so did you, but you ended up ignoring our mate.” "Not the

Chapter 48Kaia's POV. Dani and Allie could tell something was off when I got to them but I assured them that it was because I was tired from the cooking, using the fact that it's been a while as an excuse. We called it a day and I went straight to the room where I took a shower and got ready for bed. Kieran should be back anytime soon and he would be able to provide answers to the unending questions I had. Several hours passed, but he still didn't come and mind-linking him failed. I got tired of waiting and climbed the bed but sleep eluded me like a plague, so I gave up trying and sat upright. “But if they take his position from him because of me?" The thought was heavy on my mind. “Like that'll happen." Lylah scoffed. "Do you think they'd risk replacing him with a weak Alpha?” "I know he's strong, but the elders are unpredictable. Do you think they're going to consider that if the time eventually comes?” I asked her. If there was one thing I hated about the

Chapter 49Kieran's POV Being away from Kaia was killing me, I missed everything about her even though I got to see her at night. But something felt off last night, she'd even blocked me out of her thoughts, confirming my fears. The meeting I was having with the elder turned out to be completely different from what I planned for. Turns out Ida's father was connected to one of the elders and he called in a favor. But I already expected that. But showing up and seeing my mother, who I thought had given up seated there, was unexpected and disappointing. “And Alpha," Caleb called, and my head jerked upward. We were waiting for the meeting to start, but the dickheads were taking their sweet time. I was so close to dragging their asses out of their inner chambers and shoving my decision down their throats. “I forgot to mention, there's something about the Luna that doesn't add up.” I raised my brow, “did he also notice it?" I thought, but that didn't make sense since

Chapter 50Kieran's POV Without waiting for the car to stop, I jumped out and ran into the house. Pack members moved out of the way for me as I ran. I was unable to feel her emotions, or hear her thoughts, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions since she already put a wall up. As I came closer to my office, where Allie and Kaia were waiting for me, Laura's familiar features blocked my path. I let out a warning growl, “Leave my way!" “That's not the way to welcome your Luna." She said. “Get. out. of. my. way." I commanded, using my Alpha tone and she did, quietly. “Yes Alpha." Pushing the door to my office wide open, I was met with worried faces of Allie and Dani, but Kaia was nowhere to be found. They stood up once they saw me. “Where's she?" I asked, just as Caleb came in, panting heavily. “She's in the room. She wanted to be alone…” but I was gone. The door to the room was locked, and there was no response when I called her name. This added to my worry.

Chapter 51Kaia's POV My head was much better when I woke up, the event that led to me having a panic attack was fresh in my memory. Although I wasn't sure how I got here. “You made us worried, Luna. Don't do that again?" Allie asked, her voice trembling and her face was swollen like she'd been crying and I felt a pang of guilt. “I'm sorry." “There's nothing to be sorry about, you could've said something…I mean…” Dani started, taking a deep breath. "We're glad you're okay.” She finished. Allie nodded, and both of them engulfed me in a hug, murmuring comforting words to my hearing. I offered them a small smile and told them it wasn't their fault…it really wasn't their fault. Just when I thought the moon goddess was being generous and giving me the happy ending I so much deserve, she strikes again. Just that this time, I wasn't the only victim. “Did you guys bring me here?" I asked after a while. They shook their heads, “Kieran did. He left a few minutes before you

Chapter 52Kieran's POV “What's this about?" I asked my Beta. I was unable to focus on anything that wasn't related to Kaia. The faraway look in her eyes was haunting me. Once I sorted this out, things would get better. “Laura got some of the pack members to start a protest demanding that Kaia shouldn't be made Luna." He said. My fist clenched, this was going out of hand and quickly. This was exactly what the Elders were aiming at, but I wouldn't give them the satisfaction they were looking for. “Where's Ryder?" I asked. “Uhm…He has been spending all his time taking shifts at the Pack's borders." My brows furrowed, “He's still doing that?" I asked again and Caleb nodded. "The girl he's seeing probably ended things with him and that's how he's coping with the grief.” "Tell him to do that on his own fucking time, we have work to do.” I commanded. I had given him more than enough time to get back on his feet but instead, he was sinking deep into whatever wa

Chapter 53Kaia's POV Lylah was giving the silent treatment I deserved. After leaving the hospital, I made sure my block was up and also hid my smell so that it wouldn't be possible for anyone to trace. I had no idea where I was going but I knew I had to avoid the patrol warriors and they were a lot, especially with their new routine. And to keep myself going despite how many times my body wanted to turn around and run into his arms was that he was better off without me by his side. Laura was right, unlike her who had an advantage and could provide help when needed, I didn't have anything. Since I left my former pack, I'm certain no one looked for me. They probably threw a party when they realized I was gone. “Fuck!" I cried out, when I felt something pierce my leg. It was dark and I could barely see anything. My only source of light was the moon, but because of my grudge against her, it wasn't a full moon. And since Lylah refused to surface, using my wolf's vision was

Chapter 54 Lylah's POV (POV switch in this chapter) I stumbled forward, my legs wobbly beneath me. It would take some time getting used to being in my form rather than in the head of my human. Everything was heightened, my smell, vision and my sensitivity. I felt free, a feeling I've always craved but couldn't mention to Kaia because she gets dmsad at the thought of not being able to shift when it wasn't her fault to begin with. With each step I took, the more confident I felt as I navigated through the forest. I could hear King calling us for help…he was calling us to be close to him. I knew what he was talking about, the days we spent away from them were torture. But Kaia can be stubborn. As I ran, my mate's smell became concentrated, telling me we were getting close. “Please be okay!" I begged. “Are we there?" Kaia asked, tears streaming down her face. I've always hated it when she cried and always wanted to tear apart those people responsible for her tears. And i

She was finally getting a hang of it. But as I looked at her now, all I could think about was the conversation I had with Lylah. “Luna!" She called, running to meet me. "I'm glad you're okay. I was worried something was wrong." She said, wrapping her hands around me. “I'm okay." I assured her. She held my hand, telling me everything that happened while I was away. The girls went on with their normal work, but from time to time, they jumped in and out of the conversation. “Excuse me, Luna." Ryder's familiar voice interrupted, and we kept quiet, turning to look at him. "Don't tell me Kieran sent him to check on me.” I thought, a smile appearing on my face. He had mind-linked me every few minutes to make sure I was okay and now that isn't enough, he had to send someone. "That's so sweet!" Lylah coo

Chapter 107 Kieran’s POV I walked into my office with a smile because at the moment, I doubt anything can make me unhappy. Kaia carrying our pup was the best news and more than anything I could ask for. “Alpha," Caleb called, but paused when he saw the look on my face. “I'm not sure I can tell if I really interrupted you or not." He said, considering the fact that I snapped at him earlier when he mindlinked me. Ryder, who was lying down on the couch snorted, “you should be happy he's in a good mood. My poor ass can't handle him if he's not.” I rolled my eyes, before going to my desk ready to get back to work. “What did you get?" I asked him. Ryder stood up and came towards us, pulling a chair for himself as Caleb spread out the papers in front of him. “According to the description Nessa gave, those men sound different from what we're looking at…” he started. "And a question I can't push out of my head, is if she's a target too.” Ryder added. He had a point, it

Chapter 106 Kaia's POV It took a lot of convincing for Kieran to believe that I was capable of being alone and could take care of myself. He literally followed me to the bathroom just in case I needed help there. I was enjoying it though so I let him. But when Caleb mind-linked him to tell him something about the rogue that shot Nessa and Kieran replied that he should deal with it, I sent him away. As much as I wanted him to stay by my side, he had an obligation to fulfill. Besides, the doctor assured us that there was nothing to worry about in the first few weeks. I pulled a shirt over my head as I got ready to meet the girls. I was going to tell them about my pregnancy and I was eager to see their reaction. “How do you think is the best way to tell them?” I asked Lylah, but I was met with silence. I let out a deep breath, pulling out a skirt from the closet while trying not to think about the fact that Lylah now only replies to me if it was very important. I hated

But I couldn't share the excitement as panic gripped me, my conversation with Lylah before I insisted on healing Nessa came flooding back. “Was this why she was warning me?" I thought, “she could've told me." Noticing the frown on my face, Kieran's smile slowly vanished as he moved closer to me. “I'm sorry…” he started and my head snapped to him. What was he sorry for? "I should've been more careful…" “What are you talking about?" I asked, lifting his chin to look at me. “It's okay if you're not ready to have a baby yet…I should've asked…” Without letting him complete his words, I kissed his lips and I felt his body stiffened. Chapter 104 Dylan's POV If there was a conversation I was dreading, it was the one I was going to have in a few minutes when Allie walks through the door…it was inevitable. For me, the relationship started as a way to mess with Ryder but I couldn't say the same anymore. Although, a part of me knows that she was never mine in the first place, having seen the way that she looked at him and it was fine…he was one lucky son of a bitch. I could also see the efforts he was putting into talking to her which she ignores most of the time. The door swung open and Allie entered wearing her signature smile that was bright enough to throw any man off their feet. “Let me tell you,” She began, "if Kieran changes his mind on letting tag along to this Alphas’ event, I'm going to throw a tantrum.” I let out a chuckle, easing the tension in my chest. "You're not supposed to be there in the first place.” She rolled her eyes, "and you think I don't know that?" She asked, and I raised

Using the poison on myself was a risk I took but with my stepmom being unable to shut her mouth, I didn't want to delay it anymore. Felix needed to get his plan moving…and for the first time, he decided to involve me. Besides, playing the sweet innocent girl was becoming exhausting. I probably should've come up with a better excuse than not feeling well…but how was I supposed to know that she was going to snoop around looking for my house. “Because she's not the bad person.” My subconscious mind told me. So…it wasn't like I had anything against Kaia, she's nice and all, maybe too trusting. But she was the easiest and fastest way to get to Kieran and then to his p

Ryder sulked that he wanted to be the one to go instead of Dylan but he changed his mind when Kieran glared and the memory of the last time we went together filled my head. And he definitely wasn't going because he wanted to keep us safe or anything, Allie still hasn't given him the chance to talk. It was no surprise when a few hours into the shopping, I was tired.
