Chapter 50

Kieran's POV

Without waiting for the car to stop, I jumped out and ran into the house. Pack members moved out of the way for me as I ran. I was unable to feel her emotions, or hear her thoughts, but I didn't want to jump to conclusions since she already put a wall up.

As I came closer to my office, where Allie and Kaia were waiting for me, Laura's familiar features blocked my path.

I let out a warning growl, “Leave my way!"

“That's not the way to welcome your Luna." She said.

“Get. out. of. my. way." I commanded, using my Alpha tone and she did, quietly.

“Yes Alpha."

Pushing the door to my office wide open, I was met with worried faces of Allie and Dani, but Kaia was nowhere to be found. They stood up once they saw me.

“Where's she?" I asked, just as Caleb came in, panting heavily.

“She's in the room. She wanted to be alone…” but I was gone.

The door to the room was locked, and there was no response when I called her name. This added to my worry.

Chapter 51Kaia's POV My head was much better when I woke up, the event that led to me having a panic attack was fresh in my memory. Although I wasn't sure how I got here. “You made us worried, Luna. Don't do that again?" Allie asked, her voice trembling and her face was swollen like she'd been crying and I felt a pang of guilt. “I'm sorry." “There's nothing to be sorry about, you could've said something…I mean…” Dani started, taking a deep breath. "We're glad you're okay.” She finished. Allie nodded, and both of them engulfed me in a hug, murmuring comforting words to my hearing. I offered them a small smile and told them it wasn't their fault…it really wasn't their fault. Just when I thought the moon goddess was being generous and giving me the happy ending I so much deserve, she strikes again. Just that this time, I wasn't the only victim. “Did you guys bring me here?" I asked after a while. They shook their heads, “Kieran did. He left a few minutes before you

Chapter 52Kieran's POV “What's this about?" I asked my Beta. I was unable to focus on anything that wasn't related to Kaia. The faraway look in her eyes was haunting me. Once I sorted this out, things would get better. “Laura got some of the pack members to start a protest demanding that Kaia shouldn't be made Luna." He said. My fist clenched, this was going out of hand and quickly. This was exactly what the Elders were aiming at, but I wouldn't give them the satisfaction they were looking for. “Where's Ryder?" I asked. “Uhm…He has been spending all his time taking shifts at the Pack's borders." My brows furrowed, “He's still doing that?" I asked again and Caleb nodded. "The girl he's seeing probably ended things with him and that's how he's coping with the grief.” "Tell him to do that on his own fucking time, we have work to do.” I commanded. I had given him more than enough time to get back on his feet but instead, he was sinking deep into whatever wa

Chapter 53Kaia's POV Lylah was giving the silent treatment I deserved. After leaving the hospital, I made sure my block was up and also hid my smell so that it wouldn't be possible for anyone to trace. I had no idea where I was going but I knew I had to avoid the patrol warriors and they were a lot, especially with their new routine. And to keep myself going despite how many times my body wanted to turn around and run into his arms was that he was better off without me by his side. Laura was right, unlike her who had an advantage and could provide help when needed, I didn't have anything. Since I left my former pack, I'm certain no one looked for me. They probably threw a party when they realized I was gone. “Fuck!" I cried out, when I felt something pierce my leg. It was dark and I could barely see anything. My only source of light was the moon, but because of my grudge against her, it wasn't a full moon. And since Lylah refused to surface, using my wolf's vision was

Chapter 54 Lylah's POV (POV switch in this chapter) I stumbled forward, my legs wobbly beneath me. It would take some time getting used to being in my form rather than in the head of my human. Everything was heightened, my smell, vision and my sensitivity. I felt free, a feeling I've always craved but couldn't mention to Kaia because she gets dmsad at the thought of not being able to shift when it wasn't her fault to begin with. With each step I took, the more confident I felt as I navigated through the forest. I could hear King calling us for help…he was calling us to be close to him. I knew what he was talking about, the days we spent away from them were torture. But Kaia can be stubborn. As I ran, my mate's smell became concentrated, telling me we were getting close. “Please be okay!" I begged. “Are we there?" Kaia asked, tears streaming down her face. I've always hated it when she cried and always wanted to tear apart those people responsible for her tears. And

Chapter 55 Allie's POV Everything seems to be going wrong at once. First, it was Ryder avoiding me like a plague. Things were going well but all of a sudden, it felt like it was all in my imagination and they never happened. And when he finally came to himself, I thought, ‘this is it, we were going to get back together, but out of nowhere, he said he wanted to end things. FLASHBACK “How are things with you and your lover boy?" Dani asked, wiggling her eyebrow suggestively. We had just finished making rounds at the hospital. It wasn't a lot of work for me since most of the guys wanted to get treated by Kaia. She didn't know it yet, but there was something special about her. I shrugged, “I've barely seen him, it feels like he's avoiding me." I told them, trying to play it off like it was nothing. Kaia snorted, “that's not possible, Ryder cares about you too much and we can all see it." She said. “Except him," I thought, because nothing about his actions shows me

Chapter 56Kieran's POV I couldn't feel anything, nothing made sense no matter how hard I thought about it. It was like Kaia disappeared from everywhere, her smell was gone like the time we spent together was a fragment of my imagination. “What did you find?" I asked Caleb who was panting heavily. We were standing in an opening in the forest close to the pack borders after searching all night but all to no avail. “Nothing, Alpha. We will keep searching." He assured me. “You should get some rest, Alpha." Ryder suggested. My eyes darkened, “rest?" I scoffed. My mate was nowhere to be found, no trace whatsoever, rest was the last thing on my mind. King couldn't feel Lylah at all. I get that she could easily block me out and hide her smell but King could always communicate with her wolf. I was scared that something could've happened to her but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if anything does. “I'll get in touch with the neighbouring packs, just in case she fin

Chapter 57 Kaia's POV I woke up with a start, my head was hurting, my lungs were burning like they were on fire. I was on a bed, even though I was certain the cabin didn't have one, nor did it have lights. “Where was I?” The last thing I remembered was taking a stroll because Lylah needed to get better and she thought taking a walk might help and then she sensed King calling for help. I sat upright quickly, “Kieran! He was right in my arms and he…” I couldn't bring myself to even say the word. Something didn't feel right though, it felt like he was still here. “Kaia! You're finally awake!” Allie squealed, running towards me, wearing a relieved look. “Her brother was dead because of me, how does she have it in her to be happy that I was awake?” I thought, looking at her suspiciously. "or was this her way of getting back at me? Killing me with kindness, so that the guilt would eat me up alive?” She threw her arms around me as she started crying, “I was so scared

Chapter 58 Kaia's POV (Mature content) Like he'd been expecting it, Kieran didn't hesitate as he kissed me back, gently setting me on my feet. One of his hands glides up to cup the back of my neck and his other hand stays on my lower back, firmly holding me against him. Our eyes lock, both of us breathing hard. Since the first time we kissed this has to be the longest I've gone without kissing him. So I kissed him like I was making up for the lost time. He guided me carefully into the room and towards the bed but I didn't care as my hand around his neck pulled him closer if possible, deepening the kiss. My back touched the bed but his lips didn't leave mine and my hand left his neck to tug at the hem of his shirt. He pulled it off so fast before his lips came back to mine. He left trails of kisses on my neck and a satisfied growl left his lips when I let out a moan. I brought his lips to mine, wanting to feel him. I paused when I felt his hand graze my skin under my

Chapter 86Kaia's POV My jaw dropped as I stared at Dylan as he led Allie away. I knew it was my suggestion for both of them to ‘pretend’ to be in a relationship but this was on another level. They were acting like there was nothing fake about their relationship. Although they did get a reaction from Ryder, who was presently beating his opponent to a pulp. “I guess you didn't expect that to happen, huh?" Dani asked. I wanted to be chilled and enjoyed the drama unfolding before me, but I couldn't. Especially when Kieran returns and wants to know why his Gamma is acting out. “Definitely not. I thought they'll just talk and all.” She snorted, "like that'll do anything. But you're right, he's still in love with her. I really wonder what happened since he hasn't found his mate. Before I could give her a response, Ryder made his way towards us, he looked defeated and lost. Chapter 85Kieran's POV If there was anything I hated more than being away from Kaia, it was waiting. The full moon was only a few hours away and we needed to get the flowers and also get on with the solution before it was over. I could've easily assigned it to my warriors, but I'd rather not wait a whole month for the next full moon…I did bring some of them along. “This shit is fucking uncomfortable!" Caleb grumbled, shifting uncomfortably. “Good thing we're not here on a vacation, don't you think?" I asked him, but he just ignored me and continued looking for the best way to rest his head. The flower we wanted to get could only be found in the mystic’s glen, which was a secluded and enchanted forest where various types of flowers which would normally not grow in Packs were found and only under the full moon. It wasn't close to any other Pack, so we could only make do of the things we brought along but they were nowhere near comfortable. But once we get what we cam

Chapter 84Allie's POV Dylan stood in front of me, barely leaving any space between us. I could feel my heart beating fast even though this was supposed to be a pretense. Rhea was dancing around in my head at the heat radiating from him. He didn't take his eyes off me, so he didn't see the look Ryder was giving him. “You're here early." He said, his voice barely above a whisper. And at this point, it was a good thing Kieran wasn't here…we wouldn't be here if he was though. I cleared my throat, “I couldn't wait to see you. I miss you." “Good thing you came, princess. I fucking missed you too." His lips grazed my skin slightly, sending shivers down my spine. I didn't miss how Ryder's frown deepened. Dylan was purposely calling me that because I mentioned in one of our conversations that I loved it when Ryder called me that. The girls also had shocked looks on their faces but quickly covered it up. “H-how was training?" My hand subconsciously reached out to

Chapter 83Allie's POV As Dylan pulled his shirt off, his muscles rippled beneath his skin and even if I wanted to…I didn't, I couldn't look away. My eyes were glued to his well defined abs and how broad his shoulders were. His smooth skin, despite his tiredness, was inviting me to just run my fingers through them. I felt my cheeks flush as I took in the sight. He also wasn't in a hurry to enter the bathroom. Some people deserve to walk around without a shirt…if he was mine though, I'd rather keep them away from the public eyes. “I'll be back soon." Dylan said, snapping me out of my daydream. And I nodded, unable to trust the words that would come out of them if I tried to say anything. Once he was gone, I turned to look at myself in the mirror in his room, and it didn't come as a surprise to see how punk my face had gotten. At this point, he had only one duty, and it was to make me embarrass myself. “Do you think being friends with him is a good idea?" I asked Rh

Chapter 82 Allie's POV That stupid thug! That handsome stupid wolf! “How did he get himself injured for crying out loud?" I thought, hissing as the image of his wounds flashed through my head one more time. He couldn't just stay still, instead, he chose to go around, making people worry unnecessarily about him. He should've sat training out if he couldn't handle it, Kieran would've let him off…but no, he was trying to prove a point. “When you say people, you mean yourself right?" Rhea, my wolf asked, and I frowned. “Are you going to deny the fact that you were worried about him?" “I mean, when you put it that way." I snorted, “I didn't put it anyway, you're just in denial." She kept quiet, knowing I was right. Since the day that he ended things with me, I've tried my best to avoid running into him but that was almost impossible seeing how we work closely together and he was close to Kaia. Sometimes, I even envy their relationship. I didn't mention it to the g

Chapter 81 Kaia's POV While waiting for the full moon to be able to get the ironbloom flower so that a solution can be made, Kieran had also been busy, coming up with strategies on the best way to go about it. Part of which means that only trusted warriors knew about it. If they were really in the pack, it was best to take them by surprise. But because of this, I'd barely seen Kieran apart from when he comes in to sleep. And it was frustrating to say the least. “You should stay with Dani today." I told Nessa, who was insisting on going with me to the pack hospital. “The last thing you want to see is blood and bones." “I can handle it." She assured me. But I shook my head, “we'll be back before you know it." I told her and this time, she listened. Allie and I made our way to the hospital. They needed more hands, especially with how intense their training was in the past few days. “The girl likes you, it's cute.” Allie said, "it shows how much she trusts you.”

He was disappointed that I would speak to his mate-my mom that way and I was also disappointed that even now, he would take her side but whatever disappointment they were feeling was the last thing I wanted to deal with at the moment. Although neither she nor my dad offered an explanation for the incident with the witches which led to their banishment and if anything, it made me realize that I was right about something not making sense. And because of that, I was looking at it all wrong. “Alpha," Caleb called, snapping me out of my thoughts as he entered the room, his expression not giving away what he might've found.
