The words hung in Romano's throat as he stared in shock, unable to utter a word. Giovanni gave a small victory smirk, annoying the hell out of Romano.

“I can see that I greatly surprised you,” Giovanni spoke, holding the same smirk.

Romano swallowed a lump of spit before turning to face Giovanni. He covered his fear with a forced smile before sipping his wine again. “Surprises work either way,” he answered after dropping his glass.

“You know I could kill you right now and still escape without a scratch, right?” Giovanni flexed, twirling the knife by the handle. “I can also bring down half of your men within a heartbeat, but I won't do that. What I seek is greater than you,” he added.

They stared at each other for some seconds, romano's mind racing in thoughts. What was it that Giovanni sought?

Were they on the same path?

Giovanni banged his hands loudly on the table, bringing Romano out of his thoughts. “You killed my brother, and I ain't gonna let you go free” With that, Giovanni r

Born as the only child to his father, he took over the leadership of the family's business after getting married at twenty five.A knock sounded on the door of his office and he raised his head from his table to stare at the door. Giovanni stepped out of his car in front of Luigi's mansion. He brushed his suit lightly with his hands before burying it deep into his trousers pocket. He nodded at the guards in acknowledgment as he walked briskly past them. __“So this marriage thing, when is it happening?” Giovanni asked. He was seated with Luigi in his study room. “It's your call. Whenever you're ready, it will happen.” Luigi responded.“I want it to happen soonest. I need to get it over and done with.” Giovanni said. He had decided to get married to Luigi's daughter in the shortest possible time. Getting married to her early was his only Way of getting things done soonest.“Alright then. It's settled. My clan will come over to your city to complete the marriage rites.” Luigi responded with a smile. ****“Your brother is getting married within a week. Joan, Luigi's daughter drove through the almost empty road. The volume of the music in her car was turned high making the car reverberate with the music. She shook her head violently while singing along loudly. Her car screeched to a stop as a car swiftly intercepted hers from a corner. She stared in shock with a fast thumping heart as the driver of the car walked to her car and pulled the door open.“Shhh. Keep quiet and get into the car.” the driver said, pointing a gun at her. She sat in shock, unable to react to the threat. In times like this, she wished she had learned martial arts when her father forced her to. She was still thinking when she was forcefully yanked out of the car before being pushed into the attacker's car. The attacker tied her up, leaving her in the back side of the car before getting into the driver's seat and driving away. She lay in the back seat of the car, her hands and legs were tied by the same rope and they were starting to ache due to the position she

Early the next morning, Cielo walked into the room where Joan was bound up in a corner. She leaned her head against the wall as she slept. Cielo stood by the door and watched her sleep for a moment before walking closer and tapping her awake. She loosened the rope that was used to bind her, freeing her before leading her to the bathroom where she had a cool shower.“I will drop you off at the park some distance away. Your car is parked there. Here are your keys.” Cielo said, handing over Joan's car keys to her. After her abduction, she had returned to the scene to pick up the car.Joan eyed her before snatching the keys from her hand. Cielo chuckled before entering the car. Joan entered the other side and she drove off. Angelo watched them drive off from a window in the house. He shook his head as the cat drove out of sight. He felt restricted staying here with Cielo. It's been a lot of days since the incident occurred and he felt he was ready to go back into the world, but according t

Enzo bowed his head slightly and sighed loudly before he started speaking. There were a lot of things to be said and he trusted his uncle to listen. Uncle Morelli was his favorite relative while growing up, he treated them with love and care and that drew them even closer.“My name is Lorenzo Verrilli.” he started and the shocked look that crossed his uncle's face was unmistakable.“What!?” he screamed. Lorenzo was his nephew. His parents had died about two decades ago and nothing had been heard of him again. Most people in the family held the opinion that he was dead. Hd had tried looking for them, combing the entire city of Palermo and its environs. The search had lasted for about a year and when he didn't find them, he finally gave up. Now it seems like fate had answered his prayer.“I am Lorenzo Verrilli, the only son of Matteo Verrilli and rightful heir of the Verrilli family,” Enzo repeated himself firmly.“Prove it.” Uncle Morelli replied, fixing his eyes firmly on him. Mikael sat in the comfort of his luxurious six figures' outdoor property as he dipped one of the most expensive wines in the country. He had been born into wealth, and he had continued on that path, although most of the money he spent wasn't earned by him.His father had died a few days ago, and here he sat, in the cool breeze of the evening, trying to push away the memories. He didn't really have that much love for his father, but he couldn't deny, the old man had done a lot for him, and for that, he owed him his gratitude. He lit his third stick of cigarette and put it into his mouth, taking a big drag before releasing the smoke into the air, tainting the cool evening air. The family council had informed him of the rites he needed to carry out if he was interested in becoming the next family don, and so far, he hadn't made his decision yet. He wanted to live a soft life. Go on vacation to Paris, Madrid, the Bahamas, and every big city in the world. He wanted to own those fucking expe

“Where are we going?” Joan asked timidly as they drove silently on the lonely road. Cielo ignored her question, fixing her focus on the road. She hadn't spoken to her since they started driving in the car.Joan sighed and leaned back on the car seat. She had tried initiating a Convo about four times in the last eight minutes, and each time, Cielo had replied her with silence. She inhaled loudly and closed her eyes to relax.“I'm driving you to the next city. You'll catch a flight from there.” Cielo's calm voice replied and she opened her eyes to stare at her in surprise. The previous day, Cielo had called her to remind her about their deal. Joan was to boycott the wedding. The plan was for her to act like she was dressing up for the wedding and spend extra time at home while Cielo drove in to get her, making it seem like an abduction.Cielo controlled the steering wheel with one hand while she bent slightly and picked up a bag from the car floor in front of her and handed it to Joan. Giovanni was dressed in a blue tuxedo as he stood nervously and impatiently in front of the priest for his bride. What started as a rocky hate relationship blossomed into marriage and they were now about to tie the knot. Looking back at everything, he was grateful to her for sticking around. His underboss stood some distance behind him, dressed in a similar suit while his mother and members of the two families took the first few rows. The tune soon started playing and Giovanni turned to see his bride walking down the aisle with Enzo. He smiled unconscionably as he watched her take graceful steps. She was dressed in a big white wedding dress and held a bouquet of flowers in her hand. They got to where he stood and Enzo nodded at him, handing Cielo over to him.“You look very beautiful today. I'm a fucking lucky man,” he whispered into her eyes and she smiled. They walked hand in hand to the front of the priest and he began the proceeding. It was Cielo's suggestion to go with a church we

Giovanni and Cielo spent their vacation at Seychelles island somewhere in Africa. They spent most of the day on the beach or waterside. Sometimes they went scuba diving, rock climbing, or visited the Morne national park. They also went on helicopter rides often. They had spent five days already and tonight, they were preparing for a dinner date.“Why can't we just have this dinner indoors?” Cielo whined for the umpteenth that evening. She was yet to put on her dress while Giovanni was already done with his. He was dressed in a black tuxedo suit and a white shirt. He wore diamond earrings and had a matching diamond watch on his left wrist.“Because tonight is a special night, besides, we haven't been to any of the top notch restaurants around here,” Giovanni replied, placing his hands on her waist. “Ya. Right,” She gave up and went to take out her dress. It was a blue full length dinner dress that had a slit from her thigh downward. It was tight and hugged her body perfectly, exposing

Giovanni wrapped up the last file he was working on and heaved a sigh of relief. Everything had been going on well over the last month. The family business was booming, he was getting more clients and investors and Palermo was calm. The only area of worry he had now was his love life. Cielo had refused to see him since then even after he had tried to plead on different occasions. He had been away for over two weeks and now that he was back in town, he was going to try to speak to her again. He arranged the files on the table before getting up. He picked up his phone from the table and checked the time on it. It was a few minutes past five pm. He stepped out of the office and locked the door before getting into his car.“Knew I was gonna find you here,” Giovanni said and Cielo turned to look at him. Her mouth opened in surprise as she stared at him. He smiled at her and she smiled back.“How did you find me here?” she questioned with a shy smile. She had missed him a lot and seeing him

Enzo waited patiently in the back seat of the jeep for his prey. His face was covered in a mask, his hair under a cap and he had a big hoodie on. A perfect disguise for a cold late night. Some minutes later the door of the driver's side of the car opened and someone stepped in. He dropped his phone and a file by the space between the two seats and Enzo counted each passing seconds before he attacked. He took out the gun from under his hoodie silently and cocked it, placing it on the side of Gallo's head.Gallo tried to act immediately but he hit him hard on the side of his head with the butt of the gun. “Gallo Esposito. It's really unsafe to be driving around Palermo alone, especially at this period.” Enzo mouthed without a smile. “I heard what happened to the institution. Also heard you've been looking for who did it. Why do you suspect Cielo Verrilli?” he asked and then paused. He observed the visible shift in his demeanor at the mention of Cielo's name.“What? Cielo sat on the chair in front of the large table in Giovanni's mini study sorting some files. It was minutes past 10 am in the morning. Giovanni was still in bed. She had woken up some hours earlier, made breakfast, and got to work. Giovanni had woken up to take breakfast with her and returned to the bed after. She paused and looked at a particular document. She opened it and scrolled through its contents before dropping it in shock. She picked it up and stared at it, unable to believe its content before she stormed to the form with the papers in her hand. She walked into the room to see that Giovanni was no longer on the bed. She heard the water rushing in the ensuite so she waited for him to walk out. He walked out some minutes later, saw her standing with her hands folded, and smiled at her.“Hey,” he said with a cheerful smile.“How long have you known about this?” she asked, producing the paper from behind her and thrusting it into his hands. The scanner scanned her retina and Cielo stepped inside with the heave of a sigh. She had taken off her bulletproof vest and dropped it with Giovanni. Wearing it inside was going to draw a lot of attention to her and she didn't want that. Especially not at this point. There were few people in the hallway so it was easy for her to walk past them. Not like the other agents really cared. The only person that could have been nose high in her business was Piero and he was dead now.“I have gotten in. On my way to the security room.” She informed both Giovanni and Enzo through the device on her ear. She took a left turn as she got closer to the security room. The security room was always locked but she could bypass that. She got to the door and looked around before taking out a key from her pocket. She fixed it into the lock and turned it and the door gave way. She walked in and looked at the different switches in the room. Most of them looked familiar. She walked to the alarm system and br

He looked like he could kill anyone at that instant. “What do you mean by that?” he asked, rising from his seat and walking to the front. He gave Enzo a cold stare which he returned. The two men stared at each other coldly before Morelli cleared his throat, making Rafael spare him a glance. “You must surely know Matteo Verrilli. He was a very successful leader and this is his son, Enzo -”“How sure are you? It could be an imposter trying to get into the family.” Rafael interrupted. “I carried out my tests.
