Lugard's Pov

I sit across my desk, my mind heated and my body shuddering somehow. I stare at the glass of whiskey I had in hand for a very long time and then sigh, pouring it down my throat.

"I can't remember the exact number but I know it's plenty and I will ask you again, very calmly. What the fuck happened in my absence, Sam?"

He's staring down, these days that's not what he normally does unless he doesn't want to tell me something I need to know.

"The thing is, Alpha, we were in the living room not long after you left, Bella complained of feeling the world spinning around her. We all thought it was a joke until she collapsed. I quickly sent her to the hospital, commanding the guards to watch over your wife. I don't understand how this happened and it's amazing, you are the only one who has the keys to your bedroom. How could it transpire that she would escape?"

"Unless you are not telling me the true story. Don't worry, Sam, I don't normally trust
