“Don’t me mad, you know I was only joking with you, don’t you Ad-y?” Shane asked.
He uses Gabe’s nickname for me and I can see Gabe in the corner of my eye freeze over the sink. Shane’s eyes dart across the room to where my best friend stands. I don’t know what’s going on with him, but there’s something in his gaze that tells me he’s hostile.
“Of course I knew you were joking,” I murmured in an attempt to get him to stop looking at Gabe that way.
It’s common knowledge that there’s a different way of life within the packhouse. For a servant or a worker the sure way to a shitty life is to get on the bad side of the heirs or of anyone of rank. I plaster a smile on my face for my best friend as Shane looks away from Gabe and back to me. His fingers release my waist and slides lower down my back.
“Shane’s sense of humor is oh-so-funny… not,” Mavy said.
“I love you too,” Shane chuckled.
The one time there wasn’t darkness in his eyes was when he talked to Mavy. It was plain to see that he thought the world of her. Mavy rolled her eyes and stuck out her tongue at him. I couldn’t laugh this time because my mind was stuck focusing on Shane’s hand and where it was going.
“Anyway, Daddy do we know yet where the Crescent Ball is going to be this year?” She asked.
“Not yet. Speaking of, we have a meeting this afternoon to vote on that. Don’t be late son,” Alpha Joshua said to Shane before he turned back to Mavy. “It’s come down to the Silver pack and Desert Moon pack.”
“We still don’t know where our vote is going. Have you given it more thought?” Luna Rose asked.
“Well… The Silver pack is a smaller pack and it isn’t well off, so it would be a burden financially for them if we vote to have them host the Ball. If we don’t have it there… we’ll have no other choice but to have Desert Moon pack host,” Alpha Joshua said.
“Wouldn’t Desert Moon be the best choice then?” Mavy asked.
“Is it safe?” Luna asked.
“We don’t have an alliance with their new alpha, but he hasn’t shown any hostility towards the other packs. Desert Moon would be the better between the two financially. Plus, we’d get the chance to talk about an alliance,” Alpha Joshua said.
“Maybe we can find our mates at the Crescent Moon Ball,” Mavy squealed.
I internally groan at the mention of searching out or Goddess-given mate. She turned toward me and threw her arms around me. She stopped with her hand on my back. Leaning back she looked behind me as Shane slowly withdrew his hand. She glared at him and he flashed her a bright smile.
“Visiting other packs does raise the chance of you finding your mate…” I trailed off.
“Me? You mean we can find our mates,” Mavy teased. She elbowed me and gave me the side-eye. Her eyes are telling me I will not be able to escape this year. The fierceness in her gaze tells me she’s a woman on a mission.
“Daddy, can Adea and I go shopping this weekend for dresses? Please?” Mavy asked with big bright doe eyes. Alpha looks at us, pretending to consider his options, before he glances at his mate. I don’t even get the chance to tell him there’s no need when Mavy clasps her hands together in front of her chest and shakes her shoulders left and right like a child begging for candy.
“That sounds like a good idea. Nothing inappropriate Mavy, you hear me?” Alpha Joshua asked.
“Yes! Yes! Yes! Thank you Daddy!” Mavy squeals.
Ding! Ding!
“Trent’s here! Gotta go.”
Mavy picks up her phone, confirms that it’s Trent, and giggles. She jumps to her feet and squeezes my shoulder before walking over to Shane and giving him a hug. Next she gives her dad a kiss and her mom a hug. She walks backwards towards the exit.
“Adea! I’ll see you at school,” she said.
She smiles at me and waves before giving Shane a death glare. Then she turns and rushes out of the kitchen. I stand to my feet and start grabbing all of the dishes. I pile them high, grab the two stacks, and head for the sink. Gabe cleans up after breakfast so I can make it to school.
“See you later Alpha and Luna,” I said with a bow.
“See you after school,” Luna Rose said.
“See you Ady!” Shane calls after me.
I don’t know what’s gotten into Shane today. Over the past few weeks he’s progressively gotten more aggressive towards me and I’m not sure why. I keep to myself and complete all of my duties. Shivers run down my spine as I remember the feel of his hands on my back. The memory of his touch and his warmth stirred something inside of me. I didn’t dare put a name to those feelings. I wave goodbye to Gabe, grab my things, and run out the door.
I check my phone and smile. There’s still time for my favorite thing to do. I prefer running to school. I haven’t heard my wolf yet, but I think she’s going to show up soon because my body is changing. My sense of smell is heightened and I love the smell of the woods. The ones behind the pack house call to me.
I pull my hair out of my bun as I take off into a sprint. My feet propel me forward and the trees blur around me. I run until I get to the clearing where the grass meets the small creek. My one and only safe haven. I’m tempted to jump in, but I know better. There isn’t enough time for me to swim, change, and get to school. My backpacks drops to the floor and I lay down on the grass.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath as I listen to my favorites sounds in the world. The sounds of the grass swaying in the wind, the birds as they sing their cheerful songs, and the subtle splashes from the creek. The rays from the sun dance across my skin and I smile. I could lay here all day if I could. It’s only when I’m here alone in this forest that I admit to myself that being a rogue couldn’t be so bad. The bell rings far off in the distance and I sigh. I open my eyes and grab my bag.
Time for school.
ShaneMy first conscious thought that morning was Goddess-damned that feels good. Warm wet lips are wrapped around my cock and I flex my thighs and lift my hips without so much as opening my eyes. I can imagine whatever I want with them closed, I can imagine whoever I want. I bite on my bottom lip as she takes me so far down her throat she gags.Fucking choke on it.She swallows around my hard cock and I throw my head back as she does exactly what I asked. Soft fingers gripped my thigh as she crawled in between my legs. I gripped the back of her head and reveled in the motion of her head bobbing up and down. I imaged Adea’s long brown hair in my hands, that it was her soft lips around my length, and it was me she enjoyed in her mouth. Her tongue slides up and down my shaft as she sucks me like her life depends on it.“Oh fuuuuck,” I groan. She lifts her head and my cock stands and sucks on my tip before she lowers her mouth to my balls. I curse when she takes them into her warm mouth
“You’re greedy. Do you think greedy little girls get whatever they want?” I asked. My fingers pump in and out of her pussy. She cries out as I fuck her with my fingers fast and hard.“No,” she whimpers.“That’s right. They don’t, but you like being a bad girl, don’t you? You like making me angry. You like it when I hurt you. You like it when I take my anger out on you and you like it when I tell you how dirty you are. Say it,” I demand.“Yes, Alpha,” she moans. She isn’t who I want, but at this moment she can be what I need. I watch as her arousal seeps down my knuckles. I watch as my fingers disappear and reappear from her wetness. The sounds from my movements are filling like music to my ears. Her pussy clenches my fingers, she’s close. Right before she’s about to come, I stop.“Say it,” I demand.“I’m dirty and I like it when you hurt me,” she cries. She whines and I move my fingers again until she clenches tight for me, but again I stop. Refusing to give her what she wants, refusi
ShaneI was asked today to share a happy moment spent with my family, when I couldn’t think of one, I was asked to share any happy memory I had of my parents. Still, I couldn’t name one. Where familial bonds should pull me to them, an emptiness sits. If it weren’t for my twin sister I think I would have killed myself long ago.People think that I would look down on her or want her gone sine we are both technically heirs to the throne, but I would rather slit my own throat than to harm a single hair on her head. Had I been born an only child I firmly believe I would have killed my parents at an early age. Why do I harbor such hate towards them? Why do I not care about their expectations or low opinions of me?I was born with all of the memories from my previous life.Every terrible thing, every death, every time she chose him over me, I remember it all. As a child it was hard to sort multiple past lives out, but eventually I got the picture. I was doomed to an eternity of suffering, bu
My place in the world had always been chosen for me. My father the Alpha, my mother the Luna, and me, the future ruler of Half Moon pack. It had all been mapped out and it was my job to obey and follow his instruction.I’d known from a young age that the weight of responsibility would pass down to me. Despite knowing how that worked out in my previous lives, I clung to it, clung to responsibility, clung to my future title. It was the only thing I would have in this world. So I worked my ass off, slept around, and did as I was told. I did everything to be considered worthy of my pack. I did everything I could to be seen as worthy in my father’s eyes so that our agreement would be considered null. I would sacrifice, I would do anything to keep her safe even if she couldn’t stand me.My parents held no love for me, although I had a soft spot for my mother, I only had room in my heart for my sister. My kindness, my understanding only covered her. There were many things I grew up knowing I
Instinct told me to rip his throat out, slice his belly open, and pull his entrails out. I came to a stop, I stopped myself from making another move. As much as I wanted to kill him I couldn’t. Devin was my best friend. Even though pure hatred flowed through my blood, it isn’t his fault I haven’t told him about my feelings for Adea. The only person who could have suspected how I felt about Adea was too focused on herself. I loved my sister but she was dense. She didn’t notice the obvious, or she didn’t want to.I haven’t told anyone, but I thought I’d make it obvious that she was my play thing. I played with her, I couldn’t help it. I loved seeing the anger that flashed in her eyes when I did. It was the one time she dared look me in the eyes and I loved it when she challenged me. I needed her will to fight over her need to submit for me.I willed Max back and reminded him that this was Devin, our closest friend, our oldest friend, and our Beta. I would show him who Adea belonged to a
Shane4 years agoI didn’t like to listen to anyone, but Mavy could order me around and I’d listen. She demanded that I come with her to the hospital because she didn’t want to go alone. I hated hospitals and she knew it. I hated everything about them. The beeping noises, the smell of medicine, the sound of high heels click-clacking on the floor, and the smell of the dead that stained the walls. Mavy pulled on my arm as she whined about how slow I walked.“Hurry up, Shane! You’re not even trying!” Mavy yelled.“How would you know? You’re rushing like she’s going to leave,” I teased.“Shane,” Mavy warned.“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I’m coming, I’m coming,” I grumbled.“Walk like you want to get there today, not tomorrow,” Mavy whined.“It’s not like she’s going to be awake! We’ve been visiting all week and she hasn’t so much as twitched,” I said.I didn’t care that she hadn’t woken up yet. I didn’t like seeing her like that. I didn’t like knowing that she had been hurt so bad that she couldn’t
Adea has been living with us for two weeks now. She’s nothing like how I remember. It’s hard not to try and put her into the same box as the version of her I know. In this life, she is clumsy and no matter how hard she tries, she keeps making a mess. Her food isn’t too bad, but I try to avoid her as much as possible. Keeping my distance is hard because Mavy drags me along when they hang out. I pretend I don’t want to, but I like it when she makes me go. I’m sitting in my room throwing my basketball up into the air and catching it when Mom knocks on my door. She opens the door and peeks her head in.“Your father needs to speak with you,” she said.My throat constricts and I clench my jaw. Sitting up, I drop the ball to the floor and stand to my feet as it bounces. Mom steps out of the room and I start for the door. As I walk down the hallway, my father links me. Why have my mother come get me if he’s just going to link me?Come to my office, son.Yes, Alpha.Now.Coming.He cuts the li
“It’s not what it looks like. I didn’t mean to use that much force. Before I could help her, she got up and ran away,” I said. It sounded like an excuse. I wasn’t dumb, but I would at least answer truthfully.“We don’t hit females. Ever. Men shouldn’t use their strength against the weaker sex,” Father said. “And if you do, you do it in the privacy of your own home, not in the fucking open where the whole damn fucking pack will hear about it!”His restraint is hanging on by a thread. His wolf is also angry with me. He always give me the bullshit excuse about how we don’t hit females because they are the lesser sex, but look at him now. Today he admitted the truth. My mother doesn’t help me, but that doesn’t mean I don’t feel for her. I know that’s not the real reason he’s angry. I’ve embarrassed him. I lower my head and pretend to cower under his gaze, but I smirk.“I wasn’t trying to hurt her—”“You disappoint me,” Father said. My mom sobs.As if I could fucking care. Why is she cryin
Odis takes a step to the side, and the crowd’s attention turns to me and my mate. As my gaze travels over them, their cheeks stained, their eyes are shocked, and blood splattered at their feet. A lot has happened and everything is moving so quickly now. I don’t know what I was expecting to happen after Shane killed Ethan. I thought everything would go back to the way it always should have been. Becoming Luna and taking over a pack wasn’t what I had in mind. My mate turns to leave, but Odis block him. “Move,” Shane growled. Odis tucked his chin, but held eye contact. “While I am not your chosen Beta, I will hold this position until you choose your own,” Odis growled. “I’ve already got a lineup. Your services are no longer needed,” Shane said coldly. “Until it’s official then,” Odis replied firmly. “Please allow me to have my-to have the remains moved.” My mate went still. He didn’t look back at the body, and I didn’t either. His gaze remained on Odis. “Permission granted,” Shane sa
I love you.I love you.I love you.The words repeat in my mind and I struggle with not linking him. Shane’s eyes widen as he takes in the words that are on repeat in my mind. It’s utter chaos up there, and I don’t want him to hear any of it. His head tilts to the side in question, as if he can’t believe what I just said, and his brows furrow. Shane’s fingers dig into my side as he pulls me flush against his chest. My heart is beating so loud I’d be surprised if he couldn’t hear it. The curse’s broken, the true villain defeated and dead at our feet. It restored the way things always should have been. There’s nothing in our way, and we can finally be together. I have my mate’s full attention as screams of despair ensue behind him.
“Do you know how many times I’ve killed you? You won in the first life, but I made it my mission, to end every one of yours after. I’ve become the villain so many times, I don’t know if I can be the hero. I don’t know if I can be the man she deserves. What I do know is that I’m the man she’s got…,” Shane trailed off. His shoulders shook and I wondered if he was crying, when he started laughing.“I should not atone for sins I know nothing of. This is not the way an alpha should run a pack. There was no trial, and I wasn’t given the opportunity to defend myself,” Ethan grunted.“Defend?” Shane asked incredulously. “Defend?! At what point did you give my mate the opportunity to defend herself? Was there a single moment in the time she spent shackled to you that you gave her a reprieve? On the nights she begged you to stop, did you?&rdq
As the unwanted feeling began welling up inside of me, I wanted to slap myself across the face. I needed to do something to snap out of it, anything to shake this feeling. Ethan’s face started to grow pale and my hands trembled as I stared at the man I’d spent lifetimes with. I wanted him gone, I didn’t want to see his face any longer. The sooner the better, before this disgusting feeling could grow any larger than it already had. I had asked Shane to take his time and make Ethan’s blood run, but now I just wanted him gone, erased from my memory, erased from this life.I wanted him to suffer as I had, but no amount of torturing would make him feel what I had felt. Nothing Shane did could make him feel what I was going through now that I had all of my memories back. Nothing could make the wrongs he’s done right and I hate that I know this. My throat dries as Shane grabs a handful of hair and the largest part of me that loves him a
“Watch as I kill the man that cursed us,” Shane murmured.Everything clicks into place and my mate’s glowing eyes stare back at me. I lean up and press a kiss to his chin. Shane’s breathing shutters and he devours my lips as I cry. His hand slides up my neck and cups my cheek. I nuzzle into it, but he releases me too soon. My knees are weak and I sway on my feet without him. Turning to look down at Ethan, I follow Shane’s gaze and take in the man on his knees. His hair is in his face, blood drips down the side of his face, and oozes down his body. He’s losing a lot of it and fast.“The two of you need help,” Ethan spat.“I don’t think you’ve got much time left,” I said to Shane.I should sick at the sight of what Shane has done to him, but all I can think about is how fate still brought us together. Even as Shane fought for me, it was as if this was all a fairy tale story with a shitty ending. And somewhere out there, an author was getting off on our pain. That, or the Moon Goddess pu
My mate’s shoulders shake and he rolls his head back until he’s looking up at the sky. He closes his eyes and a tear breaks free and rolls down his cheek. He laughs hysterically before his head drops forward. The muscles in his jaw twitched before he lifts his chin and he looks at me with haunted eyes.“Now I know I’m dreaming, but I pray I never wake,” Shane murmured. How is it that even after I tell him I’ve remembered, he still can’t believe me? My soul bled for him as more tears blurred my vision. Would I ever be able to make it up to him? He turns from me as people poured from the halls and into the courtyard. A crowd was forming around us and worry filled me as I feared for my mate. We were on Ethan’s territory, surrounded by his pack, and soon his ranked members would be here. I could only hope the law in place for alpha fights kept them back.“Shane,&
Hate. I hate myself. Self-loathing filled me and threatened to explode. I felt like I was going to combust. How? How has he done it? How can he still stand to touch me, to be near me? Just the thought of what I’ve done is enough to make me sick. I’m disgusted with myself. This world is getting blurry and I focus on the moon above. I’m out of air, out of the will to live, out of time. I don’t deserve it, I shouldn’t want it, I shouldn’t dare, but I do. I wish to see him. I want… I want to see those obsidian eyes one last time. My hands fall to my side as my head lolls to the side. There’s a roar that cuts through my thoughts and fills the garden. The hand around my throat loosens as green eyes turn from me and for the first time oxygen fills my lungs. Little breaths of air as I suck in more and more air. I follow his gaze, my eyes locking on the open door. Light spills out from the party and a dark shadow fills the doorway. My body convulses as my eyes lock on obsidian eyes. Betrayal s
I’m ripped away from him, my chest flush against a table, fingers prodding me. I shake my head and claw at the table. Tears fill my eyes and the feel of his body against mine makes me want to vomit. I hate him. The world spins and I’m begging my best friend to take me. He does what I need. Helps me erase the vile touch from my body. He takes what’s promised to another.I want him. I choose him. They know. They’re going after him. They already have him. Obey or he dies. That’s what father said. My heart screams for me to run and find him, but my mind controls my feet. I’ll do whatever I have to. He comes for me. I beg him to take me away, beg him to run away together. He can’t, no, he won’t. My heart shatters as he walks away.Hell. I’m in hell. My feet land on the ground as the monster drives into me from behind. I scream and wail. I want to wake up now. Let me out. I don’t want to be here. A firm had wraps around my neck and squeezes as I’m torn apart from the inside out. I don’t lik
“What have you done?” Ethan whispered. Green eyes were wide with shock and his brows arched high, as he shook his head. The claws that had dug into my shoulder were now scratching at his chest. They were sharper than any blade and ripped at his shirt. Blood gushed as he tore at his chest. I took a step away from him, completely confused. We were fated to be mates but there had been no pain. Why? I’d heard rejecting your mate was the most painful thing that a wolf could go through. Ethan’s eyes flashed and he was on me, his blood soaked shirt squelched against my chin. I shoved my hands against his abdomen to try and push him off.“I cannot lose you,” he breathed.“You never had me,” I said honestly.“Who you were seeing before me doesn’t concern me,” he growled. “What matters is that today you became mine.”
