Chapter 0002

Shannon

"Don't force me, Shannon."

Force him? He said he would reject his fated mate for me if he ever met her! I hesitated when he asked me to marry him because I knew I wasn't his fated mate, and I knew he might meet his fated mate later, however small the chance was, I didn't want to risk it. So he promised me he would reject his fated mate. But now, from the looks of it, he didn't want to.

"Do I need to remind you what you promised me when you asked me to marry you? You said you would reject your fated mate for me on any given day. Why are you backing out now?"

I paused to look at his expression, and it seemed like he did remember what he promised me before. I decided to give him a final push.

"Well you can't have both, it's me or her. Take your pick now."

Still, he refused to choose between me and Kaia. Did he really think that he could have both? I looked at him intensely, his face was solemn, and his frown was deep. His fist was clenched tight, his nostril flared from his heavy breathing. Like how I felt before, for the first time in my life, I couldn't figure out what he was thinking, and I had been with him for 7 years now.

"Please, Luna Shannon, forgive me, I just want to be with Terry. I could be his mistress, but I won't take your place. Please." Kaia spoke to me while looking at Terry, her eyes were full of love for him, just like I did before all this.

Kaia Cremin was the daughter of Alpha Rafael from the Darkcrown Claws Pack. She became my personal assistant after she graduated from some university from overseas. Even though she was from Alpha bloodline she was not much of an Alpha material, so her father sent her to the Crescent Manes Pack to learn.

"I promote you because I saw something in you, and I want you to learn faster and become better, not to let you replace me. You know damn well that you wouldn't be here without my help. But what did you do to repay me?"

Kaia lowered her head in shame after hearing my accusation. But I wasn't finished. I wanted her gone.

"You are not my assistant from now on. And from now on, you are forbidden from stepping here..."

Just as I was using my Luna tone to forbid Kaia from entering the Crescent Manes Pack, Terry slapped me in the face.

I covered my face in shock. All three of us fell silent. No one was expecting him to raise his hand to me, well, at least I wasn't expecting it. But it seemed like he made his choice now.

"She's my fated mate, you have no right to ban her from entering my Pack!" Terry finally said angrily.

"It seemed like you have made your choice now. You have given up our 5 years of marriage for your beloved mistress." I said with all the strength I had.

"No... It's not like that. I'm sorry, Shannon. I shouldn't have done that..." He took a step forward to try to hold my hand, but I flinched back at his touch.

"Please, give me some time to settle this with Kaia, I will reject her properly." He continued.

"I won't believe you unless you do it right now. I want action, not promises you can't seem to keep." I scoffed.

"Please believe me for this once. I can't do it right now, my wolf is not stable without his fated mate. Shannon, please."

That was it, I couldn't handle this any longer. All he had was lies and excuses.

"You take care of this yourself. I had had enough tonight."

With that, I left the room. But I cried silently once I stepped into the elevator and out of their sight. I couldn't take it, it was supposed to be our fifth anniversary, and we would have spent a romantic night together. But now I am faced with the reality of my beloved husband and my trusted assistant's double betrayal.

Kaela whimpered as well. She could feel every bit of the pain I was feeling.

"Alfredo was in pain as well. He said he was under the influence of the mate bond." Kaela defended Terry's wolf, and I sneered.

"If he truly cares about us, he would have tried to break free, instead of hitting me." The slap was not that heavy, but it was his statement, he took her side over mine.

As soon as I stepped out of the hotel, I received a mind-link from Darryl, Terry's Beta.

‘Sorry to disturb you, Luna Shannon. I know it's your anniversary with Alpha Terry. But I couldn't mind-link him and I have something urgent.'

Hearing it was something urgent, I wiped my tears and asked what it was.

‘The Moonhunter breached the south border of our region, and it seemed like he was heading to the Crescent Manes right now. Alphas from other Packs are gathering in the Pack House to discuss how to deal with the Moonhunter now.'

‘I understand. I don't think Terry could make it. I will head there in his place.' I explained to Darryl.

I walked into the Pack House only to find Alpha Rafael, Kaia's father was also there. Of course, he was. But I wasn't ready to face him right now, not after witnessing his daughter have sex with my husband.

I was going to ignore him and join everyone, but as soon as he saw me, he waved at me. I had no choice but to force a smile on him.

"Shannon! We are going to be a family soon!"

What?

He must see my confused expression. So he explained to me.

"Oh, Terry just mind-linked me and said that Kaia is his fated mate, he is going to marry her soon. Thank you so much for taking care of her when she is here."

How could he say that so nonchalantly? The fact my husband was marrying another woman was just a trivial matter to me. But before I could react, everyone started to congratulate him.

"Congratulation! Don't forget to invite us to your daughter's wedding!"

Everyone was so happy like the Moonhunter was not attacking us. All the Alphas' attention was focused on Alpha Rafael and his news. It was all so ironic to me.

Like they expected me to just accept the fact that my husband was going to marry another woman, and I would be happy to share him.

"No, we won't be a family." I finally spoke.

"What... What do you mean?" Alpha Rafael asked.

"Terry would only have one wife, and there would only be one Luna for the Crescent Manes Pack." I clenched my fist as I said so.
