ESMERAY

White fog. I remember this place all too well. I have been here before. This has to be heaven. The first time I came to heaven was after Zella had smacked me with an aluminum tray after I broke her expensive wares in the kitchen. I’d been happy to be in heaven then, but right now, something felt off. I wasn’t ready to come to heaven, I felt like I’d left something or someone on Earth. That’s weird. I have no one.

I blinked several times, then I heard feet shuffling and stopping next to me. I heard whispers, but I couldn’t clearly hear what was being said.

“You are awake,” I heard an unfamiliar voice, and I turned my head to the left at the sound of the voice. Someone was smiling broadly at me, dressed in white. Is he an angel? I smiled weekly at him as my eyes started to gradually adjust to the environment. Someone stood beside the angel, and when my eyes met the marine blue ones of the man who looked somewhat worried, everything started to come back to me. This wasn’t heaven
