Alex's face turned pale as he sank into the garden chair, his voice barely above a whisper. "Let me think about it for a moment. This is still a shocking revelation to me."

I unfolded the cloth with trembling hands, revealing the message written in blood.

"Alexander, we love you. When you find your mate, you're meant to be the Alpha king. Only with the Moon Goddess's blessing can you save us, your people. You'll always be our Alpha. Love, Mom."

The weight of his destiny seemed to hang in the air, a tangible presence that Alex couldn't simply dismiss. This was his sole link to his family, a calling to become the alpha king.

"Aurora," Alex finally spoke, his smile forced and brittle. "I think I'll pass on it." His voice wavered as he continued, "My parents might have been like yours – ambitious, perhaps even cruel. Think about it, they abandoned me at an orphanage. I don't need to be the alpha king. All I yearn for is a simple life in the village. With you."
