I opened the door, and seeing Elysia shake with nervousness made me feel funny. It was strange seeing her want to make an impression on the same people who hate her guts.

I didn't have the mind to tell her that she was wasting her time and it was never going to work out between her and my parents.

That relationship sailed a long time ago, I figured it would be fun to watch her sweat it out. My mother would make her uncomfortable, that's the least they could do.

I itched to grab her hand and assure her that everything would be fine but that would be me caring and I wasn't supposed to care, no matter how nice she was being.

The door opened and I was floored.

My mother’s warm welcome made me smile as I made my way to my Father’s study. I worried about leaving Elysia with my parents knowing their history but I figured she would be fine, I felt nostalgic coming back here, the pictures on the wall and my mother’s signature cooking called to me.
