Alpha Peter and I stood “Alpha Peter,” I began, “We can’t afford to wait any longer. Our pack is under attack, and every moment we hesitate, our enemies grow bolder. I’m sure you also miss being at your pack. Instead of waiting for rogues to enter and attack our pack, I’ll go and seek them out wherever they’re hiding.”

Alpha Peter’s gaze narrowed, his voice skeptical. “And what of Claire?” he pressed, “Are you avoiding her because of your fear that your wolf will act impulsively, so you’re avoiding her?”

“Rogues attacking my pack demand immediate attention, Alpha Peter. I won’t let anything jeopardize their safety.” I told him.

“Ignoring your mate and your son isn’t the solution, Alpha Jacob. They are part of you. You didn’t do right by them in the past and you’re still not doing right by them now.”

“You’ve seen what my wolf would do if he came into contact with Claire,” I growled, “He would harm her, Alpha Peter. I won’t let that happen to her.”
