Dylan “I’ll sleep in the guest room. You sleep in here, Kaiya,” I say as I lead her into my bedroom after dinner. We ordered Kaiya a small wardrobe worth of clothing and I know she is comforted by my scent, so this is a good space for her. I also ordered her some more feminine body wash and other hygiene products. While I love the fact that she has my scent all over her, she is entitled to smelling how she wishes to. Work kept me busy today, between company business, meetings and pack business. I didn’t get the chance to formulate when and how I am confronting my brother about what he has done, but I am certain he knows I have Kaiya. I need to confront him about everything. “Kaiya, I know you are still not feeling all that well and I am certain you have nightmares, would you like me to read to you until you fall asleep?” I ask. She pauses to think for a moment then replies, “Go get into your pajamas while I get into mine, then we can choose a book, but please, give me my space.”

I stand up from my place on his sofa with the Journal I just started reading after finishing the book I started yesterday and greet him. “Well, it looks like you had a great day,” I say. “I confronted Ace and while I never would have predicted the outcome, it was an interesting one,” Dylan says, grabbing my hands and leading me back to the sofa to sit. “Ace has been being drugged. Kaiya My skin prickles as Dylan’s breath fans against my ear and cheek and the raspy tone in his voice sends waves of desire straight to my core. Dylan I was so embarrassed that I couldn’t last long on our first round, but Kaiya’s body feels so amazing when I’m buried inside her. I was glad she was understanding and after a brief rest, she and I went for a second round and then not long ago, after waking up, we went for our third round. I took a shower and ran a tub for Kaiya, and then helped her into it before getting dressed. I have meetings today and then I am going to interrogate each of our prisoners before deciding their fates. I will give them the respect of informing them of their charges and of hearing what I determine as their punishment, but they don’t even deserve that after what my mate has been through. Kaiya My mind reels as I try to make sense of everything. I read the entire first journal of Dylan’s mother. Much of what she wrote was about family lineage and somehow that lines up with a prophecy. She believed Ash and Dylan were one key to the prophecy. She also said something about her husband’s infidelity and her suspecting I was possibly the product of that, but she was uncertain. Which is odd, given the amount of kindness she always showed me. I was about to crack open the second journal when Dylan came in looking wide eyed and bewildered. His jaw was hanging open and he was a mess. He told me he had to execute Carson and do so publicly, because if not there were people who would destroy our pack because of something he had done but he looked too horrified to explain further.
