There is only so much television one can watch, so I am glad when Juliette returns with the clean, folded laundry. I assist her her in putting the items away and we chat.

“I called Amina,” I tell her. “She thought I was dead. She said two weeks ago a mangled body with hair like mine was found and declared to be mine.”

“I had heard that which was why I was so shocked to find you hear earlier,” Juliette says. “I am uncertain who else it could be. There are not a lot of wolves with the right size and coloring to look like you. Unless, it was a human.”

Both thoughts make me nauseous. I can’t stand the idea of an innocent life being taken to cover up my disappearance. Especially, since few people would notice or care. Amina explained how she had notified human authorities as well as her Alpha and there were searches for me, so that was probably the reason it was done.
