Kaiya

Today is my 16th birthday and I shifted for the first time, but despite my excitement over finally meeting my adorable wolf, my life went from bad to miserable.

Let me explain…

I never knew my parents. As far as I know I am an orphan and I showed up on the doorstep to the packhouse in the Red Shadow Pack as an infant. Once I was old enough to work, I was given chores. As I have grown, my list of duties has grown with me. First it was dusting and sweeping, then doing dishes and laundry got added to the list, now I do most of the cleaning and cooking along with another Omega, Amina. Amina doesn’t have one duty I have, however, and that is being the practice dummy for the twin alpha heirs.

I had just finished cleaning up from breakfast and was preparing for our morning training session, where I could expect the boys to leave me battered and bruised, as usual. Yeah, I am a literal punching bag for them! That is when the first wave of pain jolted through me, causing me to double over. Despite the pain, I forced myself to stand and rush to the training grounds.

“I thought you were going to bail on us today, Omega!” Dylan snapped as I whimpered and clutched my abdomen while running up to them.

“Kaiya, is something wrong?” Ace asked.

“Just some phantom pain,” I groaned in response.

People say the twins are identical, but there are differences. Dylan has built up a very muscular frame and grown his curly brown hair long enough to reach his shoulders. Ace is toned, yet on the slim side with neatly styled brunette curls. They are both handsome, far more so than when I first met them.

I remember when we first got to know each other. I had been kept away from them, with other Omegas, but was sent to clean their room when I was eight and they were ten. Dylan was in the room searching for something and Ace was impatiently waiting for him.

“I’m sorry, young Alphas. I didn't realize you were in your bedroom, but I can leave and come back once you have gone,” I said, bowing my head respectfully.

Ace smiled at me and winked as he said, “pretty girls are always welcome to clean my space, even when I am in it.”

“Do you say that to the other Omegas? Or am I special, sir?” I asked with flushed cheeks, feeling oddly bold.

“He just likes to flirt with all the girls! Ace is weird and unless you can find my baseball glove, you can wait until we leave! I don’t want you bothering me,” Dylan huffed.

“Is it the leather glove under the corner of your bed, right there?” I asked, pointing to a thick, brown leather catcher’s mitt.

I quickly introduced myself and explained that I would be their practice dummy for training as of next week. Ace thought this was cool because it would give him more of a challenge than the straw men they had been using while Dylan used it as a way to call me “dummy”. I don’t know what I ever did to Dylan to make him act meanly or if that is just his nature.

I took in the shelves full of trophies I was expected to polish, then at the messy beds and clothes, books, and sports gear everywhere. These boys didn’t even bother trying to keep their room tidy! Of course, they had us Omegas to clean up after them, so why would they bother?

From that day on, Ace's moods seemed to run hot and cold, while Dylan was nearly always cold.

Our first training session is a great example…

“Look, here comes our DUMMY!” Dylan shouted upon my arrival.

“Hello, Kaiya! Are you ready to give me a challenge?” Ace asked with an enormous grin.

“I will do my best. Though, I have only been very briefly trained in dodges and defensive moves and I am sure you are skilled fighters already,” I complimented, knowing it was what was expected of me.

The boys took turns making their moves to attack me with most of their hits making their mark and only a few missing me thanks to a fast dodge.

“Ha! You are no match for me, Omega! So much for a challenge!” Dylan shouted after knocking me down.

“Let’s get you up and ready for my next attacks,” Ace offered, helping me to my feet, sweetly, but his tune changed shortly after.

“That’s three in a row you missed, brother!” Dylan teased, not as if he didn’t miss some himself.

“Argh! Shut up! She’s fast, alright!” Ace yelled, before storming off in a huff. Before disappearing into the packhouse, he looked over his shoulder and added, “it’s not my fault she’s tiny!”

“He’s right, I am small and I move quickly, “ I muttered through tears at having the only boy who was ever kind to me act so mean before being dismissed back to my other duties.

Ace barely said a kind word for months and got more aggressive and focused during training sessions. Which meant I was more battered and bruised after each session. I learned from that first lesson that while I was meant to give them a challenge, giving them too much of a challenge meant they would get angry and I would pay for it in one way or another.

“Kaiya, are you listening? Are you ready for us to attack?” Ace called out, bringing me back from my memories.

“I-I…AAAgh!” I attempted to speak but another wave of pain tore through me.

As I stood facing them, on the verge of my first shift, the pain rocketed through me once more, bringing me to my knees. I clutched my chest, and then my abdomen and wretched as I felt my bones break and reform. I knew transforming into my wolf for the first time would be painful, but I had expected it to be a bearable pain, not the feeling of searing hot pokers being jabbed into all my major muscles at once mixed with breaking bones and feeling as If I was burning from the inside out.

Finally, the pain ceased and I was able to  stand on my four furry legs and look up at the Alpha Twins.

“Wow! Kaiya, your wolf form is adorable!” Ace said in awe.

“Uh-huh!” Was all Dylan could muster.

Ace stepped forward, gathering my tear away training clothes and holding them out to me before speaking, “Unless you want to try this in wolf form, you should transform back and slip these on. Dylan and I will turn our backs, I promise.”

Ace’s voice was soft and filled with empathy. Little did I know how much that would change.

I had been told how to transform back many times, but the reality is not as simple as it was in theory. It is nearly as painful as the initial transformation. I transformed back to my human form and despite the fiery pain and aches in my bones, I grabbed my clothing from Ace and got dressed.

“You can look now,” I offered in a soft tone.

When Dylan turned I was surprised to see a flush across his cheeks, but despite my pain I urged the boys forward. When the first blow struck me, Ace paused with his jaw hanging wide.

“Brother! Come here! Please, tell me I am wrong!” Ace’s voice sounded like a blend of shock and fear.

Dylan rushed up to us with a furrowed brow, asking, “What is it? Is something wrong?”

“Touch her and see! Touch Kaiya’s skin with your hand,” Ace instructed.

Dylan raised his brow and scoffed, but did what his twin had asked. I noticed a tingle run through me at each of their touches. At first I thought maybe one of them or both, or maybe I had built up static electricity, but this was different. This was stronger, it felt like something both strong and pleasant and their scents had both gotten stronger…more alluring but I furrowed my brow in confusion. It can’t be! Can it?

‘They are both our mates, Kaiya. Nice to meet you, I’m your wolf, Lilly,’ A sweet voice says in my mindspace.

‘Nice to meet you Lilly, but are you certain?’ I asked her, but before she could respond Dylan’s voice broke through my thoughts.

“Why is me touching her making my body feel almost electric and tingly? Is that the same for you?” Dylan asked Ace who nodded. “It can’t mean what I think it can, can it?”

“Kaiya is our fated mate!” Ace said in a stunned tone. “She is fated to both of us.”

“No! We must reject her! She’s just an Omega!” Dylan snapped, even though he had been blushing moments before.

My heart ached and I was torn in two! They have never been very kind to me and I feared they would be the most horrible mates. However, we have all been taught to honor the mate bonds in this pack and they are extremely attractive. Why has the moon goddess done this to me?

“We can’t reject her right now!” Ace hissed. “Have you looked at her? In her weakened state, rejecting her would be a death sentence!”

I stared in horror as the brothers argued my fate while my heart felt like it would explode with how hard it was beating.

Kaiya Ace’s and Dylan’s words echo through my head as I run for the packhouse in horror, but soon I would learn it is just the start of my misery. “No! We must reject her!” and “In her weakened state, rejecting her would be a death sentence!” ring through my mind on repeat while my legs can’t carry me inside fast enough to escape the horror unfolding. My lungs burn and hot tears roll down my cheeks. Terror grips me and my mind reels while my emotions spiral into a confusing symphony of mixed feelings. My legs nearly give way when I am forced to halt at the top of the stairs after climbing them to the Greek revivalist style balcony overlooking the extensive gardens between the packhouse and training grounds. Rebecca stands at the top of the stairs, just inches from where I halted with one of her sweetest smiles plastered to her pretty face. “I have something for you,” she says in that sickly sweet tone that drives me insane. AceKaiya turned sixteen today and I had intended to give her a small gift. It was nothing special, just a token of kindness, but it seems my kindness to her was misplaced. Kaiya transformed in front of our eyes on the training grounds and her wolf was the most adorable, fluffy ball of silver fur I had ever seen. She has an unusual red petal mark on her forehead, which I haven’t seen before. It reminds me of something out of an old fairytale. I wanted to run my fingers through her fur that looked so soft, but I knew she would be embarrassed, so I picked up her clothing and held it out to her so that she could transform back and we could train. She wasn’t ready to train in wolf form yet. As we turned our backs on her to allow her a modicum of privacy, I caught Dylan’s eyes and his glazed expression. He is rarely moved or surprised by anything since our mother’s death. I suspect he is shocked. I mean, her wolf’s fur doesn’t match her chestnut colored hair, the petal mark is close, bu

DylanFive Years Later I go over the prison reports in front of me for the third time today. Something isn’t adding up. I saw Kaiya’s wolf, so I know she has one. But reports say she has no evidence of even having a wolf spirit. Her healing is decent, better than human healing, but not up to par with a typical werewolf whose wolf spirit is healthy. She never shifts, even when forced into a fighting ring. There is definitely something wrong. I’m jittery and nervous. I’m also more than just tempted to storm out of here and go to her. I want to ask her questions and see for myself what has happened to her, but the other side of me tells me I am a fool for trusting her or anyone, mate bond or not. It’s five minutes until three o'clock. She will be released at three on the dot. I close my eyes and inhale deeply. I remember that fateful day five years ago. Kaiya’s sixteenth birthday. We didn’t expect her to get her wolf or transform that early. Which leaves another mystery for us.

Kaiya The creak of the enormous Iron gate and the rattling of heavy chains is a cacophony of sounds as I stand in the entry and nod to the guard. For five long years this place has been my home, but today I gain my freedom. I went half starved and thirsty for weeks or even months on end before I would be given proper food, and then there were the beatings and fighting rings. When I was allotted time outdoors, all I could see was the distant sky above the tall red walls. With my wolf silent and knowing she was weak and unable to heal me well, my healing from the beatings was slower than normal for a werewolf. I still heal faster than ordinary humans, but not always fast enough to be healed before the next bearing. Ah…the beatings! The severity and style of beatings varied with the guards. Sheila wasn’t any less harsh than the guys. Sheila's beatings usually left me battered and bruised, but also questioning just what stories she had been fed, because of what she would say as she hi

Kaiya One month of searching and I still have no luck with jobs. Alpha Maxim is fine with my presence but requires all adult residents to get a job before joining his pack officially. Until I am an official pack member, I don’t have all the rights and protections of one. Freepelt pack is a small pack and they don’t have a lot of work, but I overheard a shopgirl this morning saying she would never hire me, because Alpha Ace would destroy anyone who helped the “traitorous whore Kaiya Ember”. My last name is because of the main city of The Red Shadow Pack. As far as I know, I have no true last name. Even in a different pack, I was doomed.I don’t want to bring Ace’s wrath on Amina, so I need to find a job and get out of her place for her sake.So now, I have driven into the neutral city and am looking into bartending at a human owned establishment. I get offered the demeaning job, with the skimpy uniform and agree to come back tomorrow night. Walking out of the building, I make my way

Ace I look at the name and know instantly who is calling. Yes, the good doctor could use the pack link, but he also knows I am in a meeting, trying to fix a shipping issue.“You will have to excuse me, gentlemen. Urgent business matters call,” I say as I get up from the meeting, leaving my brother to finish up."It is personal business,” I mindlink Dylan who shoots me a cold glare.‘I bet it is! Don’t tell me, it’ll probably just piss me off!’ Dylan replies through our link then cuts it off.I would tell him everything pisses him off, but it’s not as fun as it used to be. He used to leap on me and wrestle me, but now he stalks away and slams doors.I stride into the hospital and to the private wing where I inspect the patch job Doct Bill has done. It’s sufficient, however, when I turn to look his way as he explains medications Kaiya has been on in the prison, The dumb bitch uses the opportunity to attack me.“I am a full grown Alpha now, not a little boy!” I snarl as I shove her tiny

Kaiya I’m not sure how long I have been in this attic. Sometimes, I’m shackled to the cross, others I am strapped to a table or bed. Ace’s minions guard me in twos or threes for my “bathroom privilege” which is essentially a bucket I relieve myself in, but Ace comes in person to force feed me and question me. He’s not gentle about handling me and though he has yet to do anything more sexual than the first day when he bit my breasts while caressing them, but he has suggested it many times. “If you are a good girl, maybe I will give you what you crave,” Ace has suggested, palming his erection through his slacks. He does not realize I only craze one thing right now and that is my freedom. Let’s not discuss how he always gets an erection as he whips me and questions me and handles me roughly. I believe Ace delights in my pain. He’s a sadistic asshole. Ace or his minions whip me and beat me daily, though they are careful not to damage me too much because they view me as fragile like

Dylan ‘The Little Mouse escaped during the attack!’ Ace snarls at me through the mindlink. ‘I have some ideas where to search. You search North towards the forest between here and Freepelt Pack and I will head south towards the forest there. We can have men search the city, but she is more likely to go north or so along the river,’ I reply. I remember Kaiya and her friend Amina spending a lot of time along the river on their day off, especially during the summer months, but Autumn has been creeping in and it nears winter. The river is far too cold to swim in at this time of year, even for werewolves and her wolf is either dead or very weak. I still wouldn’t put it past her to follow the river or to jump in if she felt desperate. What desperation would drive her to leap? What will I do if I find her? What will I do if I don’t? Goddess! Why does it have to be so complicated? If she would answer Ace, maybe…or at least I hope he would let her leave. I could carry her far away, where

No one is ever quite sure what to expect. I awakened in an elegant room within his forest palace. At first, I think I am alone and then he speaks. “Priestess, have you thought about my proposal or is that man in my dungeon your mate?” “I have a fated mate, of that I am certain,” I reply. “And you choose to ignore our bond?” “I told you already that when I meet my fated mate, we will return if it is in agreement that we see if my mate also feels the bond,” I reply. “I have yet to meet my mate.” “What if I am all the Mate you are promised?” He asks. “I have seen a vision with a wolf and Lycan, you are neither of those,” I reply. “Dierdre, please! Please, tell me you feel it!” He pleads. “I…I feel it, but…you were not in my vision,” I admit at last. “And the Wolf-Lycan man in my dungeon?” “He is having me guide him to one

Miguel The first two days we had to travel slowly as we passed through the dark region. The Bodkins entertained us both nights we were there and yesterday we crossed through what Dierdre called the Twilight Threshold into a very green and purple landscape that she informed me is The Spring Kingdom. We are going to a kingdom known as The Kingdom of Nod…Chimera Fae and dream sprites are the most prominent species after The High Elves that are present in nearly every realm. I have been learning about the realms and travel through this kingdom has been sped up by a bit of transportation magic. Dierdre explained that her Shadow Wolf Magic could allow her to travel through shadows and even bring me along, but that it is too unpredictable in this landscape. Tomorrow we will cross into The Summer Kingdom. The Kingdom of Nod is somewhere beyond the Kingdoms of The Four Seasons. This morning we saw our first Shrinking Violet. She was a pretty little Fae, but as she blushed a vibrant purple

Raiden The first few days without Miguel have been alright, but there is a restless energy that had Alpha Kaiya concerned enough to call the Lycan King for some support. Her half-brother, the Future Lycan King along with his mate, are set to arrive ahead of his father today. His father and some warriors will be arriving in the coming days, but they have a secret route. It is best not to alert the growing mass of Shades, Riders, and beasts that we have backup coming. Beta Amina (who I guess I can just call Amina since she is basically my sister in law) keeps us updated on everything so that we can remain safe and vigilant. I would feel better if I knew my twin and Miguel were safe, but there is no way for us to reach them where they are, or to know when they find one another. I know that the dream we had, or rather the vision, was of them, but we never reached them. “Today, I am taking all three of you shopping for maternity clothes,” Lena announces as she enters the living room,

Miguel The sorceress…priestess…Mage…whatever you want to call her, meets me in the foyer of the Packhouse on the morning of our departure. “I suppose we ought to get to know one another since I will be bringing you into the realm of the fae and my magic combined with your muscle will be our primary defenses against anything foul. I am Deirdre, the half sister of your Alphas, Ace and Dylan. I am a priestess and half mage with both werewolf and Lycan blood,” the young, dark haired woman states as she shakes my hand. “I am Miguel. I too am part Lycan and I chose to join my small pack to the pack of your brothers and their mates, giving up my title as Alpha to strengthen both of our packs. I am a skilled fighter, but hope we don’t come into too many perils with my mates all counting on me to return in one piece,” I reply. “I really wish you would take someone else along with you,” Alpha Dylan says to his younger sister. “That can not be done. Lena It’s the last full moon before Miguel goes into the realm of the fae to try to find our other mate, Raiden’s long lost twin. I will be here with all of our pregnant mates. I know my fighting skills aren’t as great as Rita’s or Raiden’s, but I will do everything in my power to keep them safe. With the full moon rising, I can feel the heat and rut cycle beginning to take over, so all other thoughts will be set aside. I work to get dinner ready for myself and my mates. Antony is by my side, preparing the salad and making us dessert. His sweet face is turning rosy and I can tell from his looks that he can smell my rising arousal. He won’t go into heat, but he will get horny with the rest of us. The bond will ensure that. Of the four mates I have currently, three are pregnant and deliciously glowing with their pregnancies. “We’ll have to hope you don’t also get pregnant,” Miguel says from behind me. “At least not until I have returned.” “If I do, I know our pack will do their

Tobias Being a newly awakened pregnant Lycan is strange at best. I am hungry or horny often and now it’s the full moon. So both of my mates will be giving off sexy feromones which makes me even more horny. Gah! I just realized that my younger sister is going through this very same thing at the moment, only she has more mates than I do! That is mortifying. I need to put the entire thought out of my head. It’s bad enough that I can’t train while pregnant so I am overthinking things. “Tobias, stop overthinking. Talk to me if you need to,” Amina says, looking up from the report she is reading. “Or, if it helps you to get out of your head, read over one of these reports for me and see what you can discern from it. Maybe a fresh set of eyes will help me gain a new perspective on this situation.”I stop pacing and sit on the sofa in her office with one of the reports. SHe has been over these a dozen times. But when we are all done and Miguel sits down to talk with me and voices his concerns, it feels…different. I know you are training Lena, and Rita and Raiden can both fight, but with them pregnant, I just…Lena can’t protect three pregnant mates alone,” Miguel sighs. “After the full moon, I’m heading out to find Raiden’s twin and birth giving parent.” “We knew that, but I really hope it goes well and you come back soon. I will watch out for them and I will continue training Lena,” I reply. “Afterall, we are family and family takes care of one another.” I don’t know what else I can say. Sorry I disappeared, I have had some major family stuff happen, but will resume updates in the coming weeks. They may only be 2 or 3 per week for now, but I am aiming to work back up to daily updates. I didn't mean to leave everyone hanging and I have to catch up on where in the story I am so that I can continue from there. Hopefully, some of the stuff getting in the way of me writing will be handled more permanently soon.Thank you for your patience in the meantime.I believe I have less than 20 chapters left in part 2 (give or take depending on how long some scenes take to write) then we will be moving on to part 3. So far part 2 has gone in directions I didn't forsee when I first planned it, but I like where it has gone better than the original plan. I fully intend parts 3 and 4 to be packed with action and more surprises. And hope to finish the book by the end of June or July.

Amina Today is moving day. Damien, Tobias and I are helping Lena and her mates move into their new home. As we drop the children off in the nursery with the other young ones I nod at Kaiya when she mindlinks me that she has noticed how unsettled Xavier has become when he isn’t near Amal. Both have increased their tantrums and upset when apart over the last several weeks. I am uncertain how we can fix it without making a permanent space for the kids to have as their space, maybe the suite they stay in during our heat and rut cycles needs to be their nursery and all of our children will move into that space and have one or two of us or permanent sitters there with them. I know my mother would gladly permanently help raise her grandchildren. Xavier’s concern for his little mate’s safety is heartwarming, but it leaves me with a feeling in the pit of my stomach. The heir is worried about a war we know is coming, but have never told him about. I steady my mind and focus on the task at
