Quinn
Quinn Quinn wasn’t planning on going out that night. It was Saturday and school was starting soon……senior year and then he could get out of this stupid fucking town. The memories were suffocating him. He had planned on staying in with Finley until she called to let him know she was going to stay with her dad in Eugene, the next town over, that night. Quinn decided he would meet the boys. The impending date of his brother getting out of jail was also coming up. He needed a fight so he called up Elias, Chase, Greyson, and Asher, and told them to meet him at the theater. Quinn went to the garage not bothering to tell his dad he was leaving. He looked around the vast space of the ridiculously large garage and settled on his brand new hummer. He had bought it at the beginning of summer all with his own money. He had been saving from his fights and to be honest it wasn’t that hard since he always won. There was a lot of money in illegal fighting rings. Quinn was well known in that world and always brought in tons of spectators, so there was always a big payoff. Since he had paid for the hummer himself it was a little more special than the other vehicles. His dad had tried his best honestly to make things right with the boys. But money doesn’t equal forgiveness. His dad should’ve prevented his mother from leaving them. He should have seen how bad Hux had gotten. So many things could’ve been avoided. All the money and nice cars in the world wouldnt erase it. Quinn grabbed the keys to the hummer and set off. Now all those people that would tell you about the weather and the wildlife that would also tell you about Quinn and Finley probably wouldn’t give you the whole story. If they knew it. Yes Quinn and Finley we’re together. As together as Quinn would ever be with someone. And they’d probably stay that way because of the past and because they’d grown up together as best friends. But Finley also knew who Quinn was. And he slept around a lot. Hell she did too sometime so it wasn’t that big of a deal. She felt safe with him and knew no one would mess with her and he felt protective of her because of what happened. Would they end up marrying someday? Maybe. But they also had a realistic view on their relationship. Quinn of course would never sleep with a girl more than once besides Fin. He would never take them out and never stayed around after it was over. They would never walk down the hallways at school together. The girls knew what they were to Quinn. But they all wanted a piece of him just the same. The theater was already packed when he got there. “Sup” Asher was the first to yell. “Just thinking about getting in the circle.” Quinn replies. The boys all knew getting in the circle meant going to one of the fights. “Already?” Greyson was always the one to worry. The more serious one of the bunch, they hated each other until middle school. But then they played football together and became friends. They got even closer after Quinn’s mom ran off. Greyson wasn’t afraid to talk about feelings and shit like the rest of the group were. He was confident enough that he could discuss serious things. He was respected. The “dad” of the group, big and bulky Greyson understood Quinn in a way some of their other friends couldn’t, since he had lost his mom as well. Only difference was Grey was just a baby when it happened— but he still felt that absence just the same. So he and Quinn stayed up every night for weeks talking after his mom had died. He wouldn’t have gotten through it if it hadn’t been for him and Finley. But the boys knew that Huxley was due out of jail any day now, and that it had really been taking a toll on Quinn. “Do you need a hug?” Asher chimed in bobbing his eyebrows up and down. Quinn snorted at his best friend. Asher was the only person that could ever get a smile out of him. His constant playfulness and fucking sunshiny attitude was annoying as it was useful. Asher was that kind of person. Girls loved him, the kid looked like he should live in California instead of Oregon with his tall lanky ass and long blonde hair and ocean blue eyes. But he was born and raised here in Oregon right beside Quinn. They were more like brothers than he and Huxley were in fact. Quinn had an opening for a brother as it was. As he sat thinking about it he watched the cars going down the road. The light turned red and suddenly a weird feeling came over Quinn. He didn’t know what to make of it since it had never happened. He looked up and something slammed into his chest literally knocking his breath out. Only nothing actually hit him… just a pair of eyes. The eyes belonged to a girl in the car at the stoplight. The most beautiful girl Quinn had ever laid his eyes on. She was stunning, with light blonde hair, and big eyes… the most amazing grey color - almost silver. He has never seen eyes that color. They reminded him immediately of the moon. Something about her made him want to go to her right then. Either to hug her and hold tight to her for the rest of his life … or rip her clothes off right there in front of everyone. He just didn’t know which. What? Hell what was happening to him? He knew he should look away but it was impossible. There was something else , her eyes held a world of sadness. He could literally feel her pain from where he stood. And at that moment, he knew she could see his too. “Dude!! What the fuck?” A hand was flying in front of his face. He barely noticed when suddenly the light changed and the car sped off. The connection broke and left him feeling empty. He didn’t know who the girl was but he did know he had never seen her, which could only mean she was an outsider. And if Quinn hated anything it was outsiders. But somehow he didn’t know if he could hate the beautiful sad girl. Whatever had just happened scared him more than any fight, more than losing his mom and even what went down with Hux and Fin. The fuck? He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. He never got this worked up about Finley. He wanted to protect her and take care of her, but he knew he was missing something. That’s probably why he screwed around so much. The passion or a feeling he just knew he didn’t have with her. But it didn’t matter because other than Fin and the boys he didn’t get close to anyone. Finley was it for him all because of his brother, and what he let happen to her. He should’ve protected her. Now with the girl in the car gone Quinn was left with conflicting feelings. He figured out she was an outsider, which he hated. But she also left him with s peaceful feeling. It was very confusing to say the least. “Aarrggghh!!” Quinn growled as he rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands. “Dude what the hell was that.” Asher was yelling at him. “Who was she?” No point lying they all saw him staring at her. “I have no fucking idea” But Asher and Greyson exchanged a thoughtful look. That settles it then” Asher yells. “Well let’s go! We can find her!” They couldn’t have gotten far, did you get the license number?” “You’re fucking nuts dude” Quinn couldn’t handle Asher’s theatrics at the moment. His head was way too scrambled. As they walked over to meet up with the rest of the group he started immediately looking around for which girl he would take home that night. Hopefully someone who would get his mind off the beauty with the moon eyes.Emerson After a good nights sleep in her new bed Em woke refreshed and feeling lighter than she had in a long time. They spent the morning unpacking the rest of their belongings and clothes that they had brought with them. By lunch time the three of them were fairly settled in. A horn honking caused them to all look up. “Must be your car Em” mom called to her. Em ran out and saw her car sitting there in the driveway. She ran over to inspect it and make sure everything looked okay and nothing was damaged. While she was standing there she heard voices coming from the house next door. She looked up at the huge modern house next to hers where she saw a girl and boy about her age. They seemed to be arguing with each other. Em didn’t mean to stare but the girl looked up and saw her and started waving. Emerson sheepishly waved back, knowing she’d been caught. A couple hours later Em and Sawyer were swimming in their new pool when mom came out and yelled at her that she had a visi
QuinnMonday morning rolled around and Quinn was in the worst mood. School was starting and he was beyond ready to be done with it and this town for good. He had indeed ended up fighting the other night and winning - but he was still sore from it. Some of the gang from Eugene had come down and Quinn happened to be there and ready. The problem was the boys from Eugene were not boys at all but men. And Quinn was good but he was still just 18. Some of these guys were pretty big. They were more experienced than a lot of the people he ended up in the ring with, and harder to beat. Quinn never came out of a fight unscathed. Some of the Eugene bunch had actually taken mixed martial arts for years and sort of knew what they were doing. The result was a lot of bruises, cuts and the occasional broken ribs and busted lips. Therefore it took Quinn a few days to fully recover. He had a cut on his eye and lip and some bruised ribs. So he was sore as shit when he got up and left for schoo

Emerson. Emerson’s head was smashed up against the window of her moms SUV as the air conditioner blasted her long white blonde hair around in her face. She caught herself wondering why it was so hot when the summers in this town were supposedly mild, or so said the weather when she looked it up before the move. Andover Oregon was already not what she thought it would be, and they were just pulling into the town. “I think we’re really going to like it here” Carol Parker sing songed cutting the silence of the car. They’d been driving all day from their previous home in Southern California. “Look at that mountain mom!” A voice from the backseat yelled. Emerson rolled her eyes. Thinking her little brother Sawyer’s nap had lasted all of 20 minutes. At 7 years old the boy was entirely too excited about this, and anything and everything new or different. He thought of this move as an adventure. A fun family quest they were going on. Emerson thought she should be happy for him, after ev
Emerson. After pulling away from the light they drove through around five more blocks until Em noticed her mom veering left and taking a road that drove into more of a rural area. The lake was still to their left and Emerson found herself wishing wherever the house was that they could see the mountains and the water from there. The moon now shining in the sky made a beautiful reflection in the water. They continued down the road which became winding and more secluded as the trees began to get thicker on each side of the road. “Shit mom how much further?!” Sawyer was getting tired of riding in the car apparently. “No cussing!” Her mom yelled back but Emerson felt the beginnings of a smile at her brothers funny language. “And not far” Five minutes later they turned left again. Emerson was sure they were just driving around the lake and wondered if they couldn’t have bipassed the town altogether and come in from the other way. But then you wouldn’t have seen the boy.
