Chapter 11- Friend in time of need

Clarissa POV

I could see why Dominic struggled to accept his wife's death; without a body, it left room for all sorts of rumors and theories to swirl around.

The absence of closure can be a breeding ground for obsession, and it seemed that Dominic had fallen victim to that very trap.

“Come in, I’ll prepare a bath for you,” Lily offered as she parked in what I assumed was her apartment's garage. Her voice was soothing, a stark contrast to the chaos in my mind.

As we stepped out of the car, my mind was a whirlwind, grappling with thoughts that felt jumbled and confusing. The events of the day replayed in my head like a broken record Dominic's frantic eyes, the gunshot that rang out, the feeling of being yanked away from the life I once knew, I was about to be married, and that was snatched away from me, by a man who thought i was his wife.

Entering her apartment, I noticed Lily turning to face me. The warm, inviting space was filled with soft light and the scent of lavender.
