He couldn’t try calling her, texting her, and even showing up at her favorite spots because he barely knew anything about he, so with desperation for answers, Caleb hires a private investigator.

"Jack's Investigations,” the receiver at the other end of the call says as soon as he picks the call.

"I need your help, Jack," Caleb says, and Jack pauses, waiting for further instructions.

"I need you to find Melanie Carson." Caleb barks out his order at Jack.

"Details, please." Jack's tone turns professional and Caleb briefs Jack on Melanie's disappearance.

"I'll find her," Jack assures.

Days pass by and Caleb's anxiety grows then Jack's call comes in.

"Caleb, I've got something." He informs Caleb.

“Melanie Carson has been having quite a lot of dealings with Ryan Blackwood,” Jack informs him.

“The investment Brooker?” Caleb asks him confused.

“Yes he is,” Jack replies.

“What type of dealings have they been having?” Caleb asks feeling a wave of jealousy hit him.

“Business meetings… no but personal connections…yes” Jack clarifies.

"Find out what she's been up to," Caleb instructs Alistair’s brother.

"I'll get you the information that you need." The investigator, a no-nonsense man named Jack, nods.

Days later, Jack returns with a detailed report, hands it over to Caleb and as his eyes scans the pages, his anxiety grows because Melanie's daily routine reveals a surprising pattern.

Instead of consulting Alistair, Caleb decides to go to the rooftop without consulting anybody but the anonymous person doesn’t make an appearance at the rooftop like he/she said they would, and after 3 hours of no-show, Caleb gives up and returns to his office.

Luckily for Caleb, Jack was able to delve deeper, tracking Melanie and Ryan's interactions and more photos surfaced like Melanie laughing at Ryan's jokes, and a little girl that looks identical to Melanie playing with Ryan's niece and also Family dinners at Ryan's home.

Jack's report also highlights Ryan's genuine interest in Melanie's life, Melanie's comfort around Ryan, No romantic gestures or public displays but Caleb's anxiety persists.

"I don't get it, Alistair. She just disappeared." He complains to Alistair who leans back in his chair.

"Maybe she's moved on like my brother concluded” he repeats, tired of Caleb’s nonstop ranting about Meelah for two weeks.

"I don't believe that." Caleb's jaw clenches.

"You want her back?" Alistair raises an eyebrow and Caleb nods.

"Time for a wake-up call or should I say a rude awakening?" Alistair smiles slyly.

"What do you mean?" Caleb asks.

"Un-match with her on the dating site and see how she reacts," Alistair suggests

"Will that work?" Caleb's eyes narrow.

"It is worth a shot and if she is interested, she'll reach out." Alistair shrugs

Caleb pulls out his phone, hesitates, and then unmatched with Melanie but the silence that follows is deafening.

"Hey, what's going on? Why'd you un-match me?" she asks and Caleb's smile is triumphant because Alistair's plan worked.

"I just needed some space after you ghosted me," Caleb texted back, playing cool.

"Space? You just unmatched me," Melanie's response comes quickly and Caleb senses a hint of concern.

"Busy with work," he replies.

"Miss me?" he asks but Melanie's pause is palpable.

"No way. She was into me." He argues and Alistair raises an eyebrow.

"Then why is the radio silent?" He asks and Caleb scowls.

"That's what I want to know." Caleb furrows his brows.

“You know what you are going to do for me?” Alistair leans forward.

"Play it cool," Alistair advises.
