Minutes roll over before the realisation dawns upon me. It comes crashing down in tangled emotions that are too much to divulge. A reservoir of untamed emotions crashes me from shore to shore.

I was drawn into endless miseries that were nothing more than a death choke.

He has hit me. I am enraged because I am startled. He wanted to hurt me. He despises me. I just wait for the smoke to come out of my ears. I want the rage to take over me.

Why would he do that?

My conscience wonders. I ask Ella but she ain’t there. Has he smacked my serpent out of me?

Does he want me to see my rightful place? Is that what he thinks about me? A wild horse that has to be tamed? He wants to overpower me. But did he not say we are equal in our relationship? Weren’t we supposed to be friends?

And friends don’t disrespect each other. They trust each. They have each other’s back.

Was I too wrong in expecting all of it from him?

No male is ever different. Everything is just a facade. You just have

'Dear Lord, please tell me how to unexist?' I groan into the pillow, stifling a shriek that chokes my throat. Stop breathing. As simple as that! That voice again. Aish Bitch! You are goddamn pricking on my nerves. You wanna get your ass beaten? I retorted. Bold of you to believe I do not wanna die. It retaliates with the same sassiness. It's a million times better than being a Lycan with ya. ‘Who the fuck are you?’ I snap, bouncing up in a sitting position. The messy tangles of blonde hair fall all over my face. My hands still clutch the sheets tightly as I peek at a boo of my surroundings. The sun has settled down the seabed, leaving a misty tinge of tangerine and crimson after it. In the moonless sky, tiny stars twinkle in a cluster chain, marking the shape of a head. I neither have the energy nor the strength to figure out the creature. However, it does seem like a significant celestial occurrence. I do not care, which makes me wonder if, instead of an Empress serpent on v

The dawn flicks its wings when the sun peeps through the dark clouds, breaking into another horrible day. I bathe in its rays and watch the night give way to one of the most dreadful mornings of my life. The invigorating aroma of coffee invades my nostrils. I am grumpy due to fatigue and exhaustion. Anger has drained me out both mentally and physically and tiny stars blink in my vision. I am not sure how long I can hold it within me before collapsing. Still, I am holding it together. How? Don't dare even ask me. Across me, the ferocious waves have subsided to calmness. Its tranquillity mingles with the shore in soft puddles. It justifies its name by being pacific for once. BUT, IT MUST BE ALL CHIRPY WHEN I AM STRUGGLING WITH AN INTERNAL STORM. The cleaning staff is busy collecting trash that has been flooded along the waves while health freaks stretch and chase around. I wish I could be as happy as them. I smack myself internally. Where did this come from? Throughout the ni

‘Dear Lord! Lizzy? Oh My God! What have you done to this room and yourself? Have you lost your mind? Lily is fine. We will get her out soon. We are working on it. At least give us some time.’ Her voice trails off as she takes a little tour around the room and panics. ‘Lizzy?’ I hear her wailing, questioning voice. Yet, I deny looking up and meeting her eyes. She has been my subordinate ever since I remember. One of the many magnificent Queens of our Empire. Had it happened pre-war, I would have been ashamed enough to bundle myself up and throw myself in the water. Now, circumstances have changed. Together, we have been through enough to get comfortable under our own skin around each other. ‘He hit me.’ I whisper in a barely audible voice but I know she has heard me. This Serpent heard me. Sierra lightly gasped. ‘Al…alpha?’ The disbelief in her voice piques me. What is so hard to believe, huh? Yes, it’s that damn freaking Alpha. My enemy and soon-to-be mated mate. ‘You are s

When my wide eyes do not shrinken to it original size, she takes it upon herself to check the screen. And oh, my! Sierra giggles in amusement at my perplexed state. ‘You are horrified of this? Well…what are you exactly terrified of? Alpha or the dick?’ ‘SIERRA!’ I reprimand her. ‘What? I am just asking, okay. Why don’t you change it if it disgusts you so much?’ Sierra asks. ‘I don’t think you need to be reminded of what the Alpha is capable of doing or maybe he might have done it already. A tangerine has spread to the sky in the waves of voluminous illumination as the sun prepares to bid adieu. It’s too chaotic and crowded to feel the sensation of nature. Still, almost inevitably my eyes keep flickering back to the hovering birds twerking in the distance. ‘Umm…have I wronged you in any manner, Luna?’ Himanshu, the walking CCTV, asks through a mouthful of butterscotch with extra Choco chips. Sierra and I raise a questioning eyebrow at him. ‘You have been a bit cold with me.’ He explains sheepishly, averting his eyes to a she-wolf in a white bikini. Mechanically, my eyes follow his and damn! What a sight it was. She was shooting a yoga video. A natural calmness radiated from her face like anything. Her waist-length hazelnut hair flirted with the wind, a bit smug to have secured a position on her head. ‘Sexy!’ Sierra and I nod solemnly. Himanshu blushes crimson. Did I mention he looks absolutely cute in it. ‘He is cute.’ Sierra blurted it aloud, making his ch

It’s not the title I am looking for. There are just too many of them.’ ‘I wasn’t talking about the book, Lizzy. I am talking about Alpha Ibhaan. It won’t help you. In fact, you’d be only more exhausted.’ ‘Help? Who said I need help? What are you talking about? I am working to get Lily out. Piss off.’ I growl, eyeing the massive wall portrait behind her shoulder. How did Ibhaan come in all of it? ‘He cannot come when he has always been there.’ Ella taunts. I watched him intertwine his hands in hopes of warming up just a bit. I do not mimic his actions. Instead, I rub my palms all over my arms. A small grin radiated on his face. ‘I do not understand you, mother. You yelled at me for being so loud when you were trying to sleep and now you are walking me to the store in thirteen degrees. Have the Draculas stopped sucking blood and have witches become even a cent lesser annoying crapping rainbow? Has the moon wobbled its way to become a satellite of Mercury instead because it can’t absolutely tolerate the face of the earth and the faces residing on it? Nope. Nix. Naah. Nada. None of the sorts happened. Then would it not be a great offense if I stayed put on the spot near the itchy, annoying bushes that shiver for no apparent reason while whining amorous sounds loudly pleading for more and deeper? Don’t ask me why? I neither have the answer nor wish to peep around the bushes to figure it out because I already know and so do you. It simply does not make any sense to me. It’s suffocating and vaguely overwhelming. All this while he had been alive yet he made no efforts to find me. What a son of a bitch!? A slow breeze flirts with my blonde tresses, sending them flying everywhere to the north. ‘He must be here any minute now.’ Ibhaan mumbles, checking his smartwatch for the seventh time. • Chaitali: The Saga begins   Minutes

‘Emperor Dhairya is alive.’ I was told and surprisingly, I don’t care. I know it’s the worst news to know that your worst enemy (the Chatali’s worst enemy maybe) is breathing, seething, and ready to attack yet my mind cooks up better content to focus on. ‘Alpha, how was the meeting with the Lycan?’ Kavish asked me as soon as I walked in. To my utmost dismay, he was not sitting alone. The ‘Bastards Of Chaitali’ were already there with him. Munching on my snacks and chatting animatedly about some irrelevant and probably very stupid current affair. I had entered my study with such anger and irritation that Kavish preferred to be quiet but the ‘Bastards’ did not. I knew even with Kavish the peace will be short-lived. Being the Beta of the Taksh Pack, he had to gather courage and ask his Alpha, aka me, about the meeting so he could instruct his new favorite Himanshu to record it in the miserable book of Minutes. It’s not casual when the Lycan summons someone at urgent notice including

‘They are coming?’ I informed my mate, forgetting all about Suzan in a moment. ‘Who?’ She grumbled irritatedly. In the evening, when they finally came—‘Come out, Bastard. I’m waiting.’ I inform my friend, Adrian on the phone after I park my car outside his hotel. I just do not feel like going inside to pick him up and go through the security scrutiny for that rascal. After all, he is the shitty piece of werewolf ever inhabiting the plant. ‘Coming.’ I growl into the phone and I do not need a gypsy to interpret his adventurous night in the mystical land. ‘You asshole, you did not get up yet. It somehow personifies the restless deep with me. I’m careless of the uncertainity of future or of what would become of my territory and the Empire or whether I’d be recognized as a Lycan, or whether my mate truly is an Empress in disguise that is, if she is—I’d be tantalized at the turns of events for it’s nearly impossible for destiny to be so on point. Very often my own thoughts surpise me! I couldn’t believe never once I thought of what might have actually become of Arin and whether the captured Serpent knows anything for whom my mate is ready to wage war. ‘She knows something.’ Kavish had recently grumbled his annoyance. ‘It’s just that she is so devoted towards her mistress and the Empire that she’d rather die. And I fear their Emperor ain’t dead too.’ And from that day on, there is always a new revelation concerning the Empire and its rulers. Some even claimed that they had spotted Emperor Dhairya lurking around and I all but want to giggle like a school girl at their excl
