Finally, in the comfort of her bed, Sarah couldn't get any sleep and was constantly rolling over in her bed. A vision of Ezra's angry face kept resurfacing every time she closed her eyes.
It was no secret that she made a mistake and dug herself a sinkhole into which she was gradually sinking.
Her staying on the job was going to either sink her deeply or raise her out of the sinkhole.
She turned around once more, this time examining her watch. She was still having trouble falling asleep at three in the morning. How could she when she had been told not to show her face again but was going to go against those orders?
Another person who could not sleep was Ezra; he kept debating whether Sarah was going to show up or not.
He doubted it, but from the phone call that Liam made to her in his presence, it appeared that she was going to show up.
He clenched his hands. His childhood nightmare had teamed up with his obnoxious brother.
He turned and found Penelope deep in sleep. He admired how she always slept the very second she got on the bed. Some people did, but not him; if he did, a nightmare always woke him up.
Before he knew it, the sun rose, and his butler was knocking on the door.
Penelope lifted her head, irritated.
"Yes, Amos, get in," Ezra said.
"I do not understand why you have to let him in when I am not dressed," she said, rolling her eyes.
Ezra looked over at her. She was under the beddings. He looked away, not in the mood to argue.
"Last night, you did not wake me up with one of your nightmares," she mocked.
"Good morning to you too, Penelope," Ezra replied.
The door opened and Amos walked in. He was a 58-year-old man, and his job was the usual butler job and importantly to assist Ezra around the house, especially in the morning.
He greeted the two and rolled the wheelchair near for his boss to get on.
Ezra got on and was wheeled to the bathroom. For unknown reasons, he appeared to be in a hurry and wanted to be at work early.
Amos placed everything that was needed for the bath near the shower and walked out to prepare the clothes and breakfast.
Before he was done with breakfast, Ezra was already done.
"I will eat at work, Amos," Ezra announced, instructing him to take him to the car.
"But sir, you do not have a secretary, and you trust no one; who will get you the food?" Amos asked, worried.
At the mention of the secretary, Ezra's jaw tensed up. He could only pray; Sarah was not going to show up.
"Order food for me then," he replied.
Amos took him to the car and drove him to Melrose.
Amos noticed that his boss was in a hurry; it was only 7 a.m., but he was behaving as if he had a board meeting.
They arrived at Melrose in minutes, Ezra's limousine was built in a way that allowed the back to open, allowing him to wheel out on his own. He hated it when he had to rely on other people to get around.
That's why he made sure his car, home, and company were customised to make his life in a wheelchair easier.
In addition, he had exclusive use of a private elevator at the back of his building that went all the way to his office, which was on the top floor.
No one was permitted near the elevator, and if they did, they were immediately dismissed. Except for Amos, of course, when he was out running errands,
His employees were never aware of his arrival or departure times.
The Elevator came to a complete stop at the entrance of his office and his eyes darted about as he rolled into the office.
His door was different from the door that led to his secretary and subsequently to the main exit from his office.
He looked at his watch; it was 7:20 AM, too early for anyone to be in the office. He was only early because he wanted to lock the front door.
As wheeled into the secretary's office, the sight of Sarah standing on top of the desk cleaning the cobwebs caught his attention.
Ezra stared in shock and gaped, unsure of whether to call security or yell at her.
Sarah was attempting to grab the final cobweb. She had her back to Eraz's door and was unaware that he was behind her.
She was a clean freak who detested dirt.
She arrived at the workplace early in the hopes of getting ready and settling in before Ezra entered. She assumed that Ezra would use the front door and proceed to his office; she was not aware of the back elevator in his building.
Ezra wheeled his chair straight for the table, expecting her to fall in the opposite direction, but to his shock, the shaking of the table tipped her, and she fell bridal style on his lap.
When Sarah realised she was sitting on someone's lap, she choked back her scream.
She slowly opened her eyes to find a frigid, chilly gaze. She could hear his rapid heartbeat and laboured breathing. He appeared to be on the verge of breathing out fire because of how warm his breath was.
Her green eyes caught Ezra's attention; they were just as stunning as he remembered them to be. They always made him smile, and his own eyes somewhat softened.
Sarah smiled and said "Hey…"
The door opened, and Liam walked into the beautiful sight.
He smiled, putting his hands into his pockets. "I knew you two were going to make up soon," Liam said out loud.
Ezra quickly snapped out of his gaze and pushed Sarah to the floor, sending her to hit the floor hard.
"ouch!" Sarah cried out.
Ezra left for his office, banging the door loudly behind him.
Sarah winced in fear as she looked up at Liam.
"Welcome to Melrose, and that's just a sip of my brother's tiny temper," he said, pulling out his hand.
Sarah held his hand as he pulled her up.
Her entire back hurt.
"How did you end up on his lap?" Liam asked, curious.
Sarah looked up. "I was cleaning, and I think he..." She tried to speak but realised Ezra had rummaged his chair into the table.
"That's Ezra, he bashed me too yesterday," Liam smiled. "Be prepared to be physically and mentally hurt."
"What?"
"I wrote that in the contract," Liam pointed out.
"I thought that was a metaphor?"
Liam smiled, "And this is your key card in case Ezra locks you out of the office; he usually does that," he winked and walked out of the office.
Sarah held her waist; she needed to take a seat. The worst she had expected was to be thrown out of the building, not physically thrown to the floor.
She looked in the direction of Ezra's office door and remembered his beautiful blue eyes staring back at her. She was sure his cold stare softened, but she stupidly waved and said "hey" like some stupid fool.
She cringed and closed her eyes, wanting the ground to swallow her.
On the other side of the door, Ezra was busy soaking his face with water. He had wheeled himself straight to the bathroom. "The lack of sleep had messed with his stupid head," he thought to himself.
The traitor was meant to tumble to the other side of the table, and if he had been lucky, she would have sprained her ankle, sued, and never revealed her obnoxious face, especially her eyes.
Once he was done, he returned to the office. The witch reported for work despite his warning. She was filthy, shameless and without morals, or self-respect.
He reached for his phone and was ready to call security when he stopped and dialled the secretary line stead.
Sarah swiftly picked up
"Come to my office!" Ezra's chilly voice resonated sending a tingle down her spine.
Sarah got up and put herself together.
The walk to the office felt heavy; she swallowed as she knocked and opened the door.
Ezra sat on his side of the desk, his cold, icy eyes fixed on the door as she walked in.
"STOP!" he ordered her to stop by the door.
He did not want her near his table, especially her stupid green eyes.
"What are you doing back in this building?" he asked.
"Work, sir," Sarah's voice mumbled.
Ezra closed his eyes, rubbing his temple.
"What did I say yesterday?" he yelled, hitting his desk.
Sarah swallowed, reminding herself of why she went back
"Grow up, Ezra; I am here to work, and I already signed a contract that you have to terminate if you do not want me here!" she yelled at him to his shock.
"I am going back to my desk, and if you need help or want me to do anything, call," she added, turning.
She stopped by the door and turned. "One of us needs to act like an adult if we are going to work together. I will ignore that million-dollar physical assault you attempted," she warned and walked out of the office.
Ezra let out a shocked gasp.
Ezra needed a whole minute to gather himself after her surprising threats. The brazenness with which she threatened him made him speechless. Instead of giving up and developing some self-respect, the useless girl threatened him.He maneuvered his wheelchair but halted moments from the door, gasping."You want to play this way, then, okay?" He said untying his tie. When he opened the door, she was staring at him intently as if she was expecting him to storm out."Pack and leave before I make you!" he warned her."Good morning sir," she replied and began going through her files. "I need to make your schedule; please send me a draft of your timetable," she said instead."Are you stupid or just slow in the brain?" he yelled.Sarah smiled and said, "I will go and organize the desk for you," she kept ignoring him. "Do you still take coffee?" she asked. "Be silent! Shut up!" he shouted, gripping his head. He was about to have a headache. His nerves were starting to fray due to her foolish
Sarah could feel and smell the sewage content all over her body, in her mouth, her eyes, her hair, and everywhere else. She attempted to move, but all she managed to do was slip on some of the sewer that was on the floor. She could hardly breathe because the odour was obstructing her nose. She struggled to hold her stomach contents in because the entire room was drenched in sewer, and eventually all of the meal she had eaten spat over the floor. She needed to leave the room. In her attempt to get up and find an exit, she slipped and fell again on a mixture of her own vomit and sewage. She landed hard on the floor, hitting her entire back and sending her into more crying.Ezra smiled as he wheeled towards the toilet door. The fake toilet prank always worked, and all the useless secretaries fail for the Temp button. He never understood why they pushed the button. Even if it was to check if the temperature worked, it was supposed to be the last button to click, but they all clicked on it
Sarah's breath became raged; she could not believe the nerve. She was sure she had cleaned the stupid toilet spotlessly. She walked back to the bathroom and found Ezra barricading the door with his wheelchair."Did I tell you to leave?" he asked.Sarah breathed in and out, her chest pressing up and down."I asked you a question," he insisted."I cleaned the filthy, sir; what more do you want?" she was almost yelling and shading tears.Ezra moved closer to her. "I can smell the stench," he said to her. "Clear the stench, then you can go, or better go, but I need a resignation letter by tomorrow," he ordered and rolled to his desk.Any reasonable person would have insulted him and left; instead, he looked up and watched her enter the bathroom. He had not anticipated that she would go back to cleaning. He gaped in disbelief and began to question if he was dealing with a psychologically unstable individual. He gave up and collapsed into his wheelchair; none of the other secretaries had ma
Sarah arrived at the apartment she shared with her friend Chelsea at almost 9 p.m. Her friend Chelsea was impatiently waiting as she walked in."What kind of job allows you to be this late?" she asked. "what happened? Did something go wrong?" Chelsea kept asking.Sarah dropped her bag on the verge of crying."Do you need a hug?" Chelsea asked.Sarah finally broke down. "You said crying helps, so I am going to cry and take a shower," she said as she walked to the bathroom.Chelsea grabbed her hand and asked, "What did cripple do?""He made me..." Sarah tried to speak, but an image of the disgusting toilet popped up.Chelsea grabbed both her hands and asked her to take small breaths."He made me clean his toilet, and I pressed a button, and all the shit went in my mouth, eyes, and hair," Sarah cried out.Chelsea's jaw dropped as she let go of her friend's hands."I had to puke and take a shower, but I can smell it," Sarah went on."You mean his shit? As in, fecal matter was in your mout
Liam quickly grabbed her, "The boss ordered you to get out! He yelled at her and began pulling her to the door."No wait!" Sarah tried to push on him."I swear, Sarah, I will call security to show you out of this building, and you will never walk in again!" he threatened. The directors and Ezra watched not sure why Liam was on Ezra's side for the first time. The two brothers were known to disagree on everything.Sarah looked up at him, but the second he let go of her, she ran to Ezra's side of the table and smashed the file really hard on the table, forcing Ezra to move back a bit in shock. She gave him a long look, with tears still rolling down her face, before walking out of the room as everyone watched in disbelief.Liam remained at the door, breathing heavily, his face as red as a peach, ready to burst open.Ezra closed his eyes, his hand rubbing his temple. The meeting was important, he needed to concentrate on that and then deal with her later."I apologize for that. Can we cont
Ezra was lost for words, and a lot of questions began popping into his head. Something was wrong with the girl. It was the only explanation for why a woman would allow herself to be degraded in such a manner. He looked up at her, but this time his mouth closed.Sarah walked to her desk and grabbed a writing pad, waiting for the biggest scumbag to educate her on the best brand of tampons that he preferred his secretaries to be wearing."Sir, I am waiting," she insisted."Get out of my way!" he yelled and wheeled his chair back to his office, pissed."The woman was crazy," he said to himself. He grabbed his phone and began googling signs for a mentally impaired secretary. A lot of articles began popping up, but none of them made sense.Irritated, he threw his phone on his desk and leaned back. He was sure the sanitary humiliation was going to work. It was supposed to, but it looked like the stupid woman had an empty brain. For the second time, he was back to square one.In the next roo
The entire sushi began tasting stile, and Ezra's throat became heavy, making it very difficult for him to push the food down.He lifted his eyes to meet hers and found her with a very big, beautiful smile. He folded his hand over his mouth and waited for the terrible feeling to go away before he packed up everything, threw it into Dustin, and disappeared using the back elevator without saying a single word.Sarah looked at the back elevator and the bin back and forth. She rubbed the back of her neck, realizing the man had just thrown away food, knowing she was hungry too.She let out a chuckle in disbelief.Given a chance, the man would kill her or watch her starve to death while he stamped on food. Her stomach made the rumbling noise again. She looked up at the elevator, debating whether he had gone somewhere else to eat.If so, she had a small window of time to go down the building and grab something for herself. On second thought, she talked herself out of it and got to work. She h
Penelope arrived on the top floor and pushed the door open, forcing Sarah to look up. A slim woman with short dark hair, big eyes, and a sluty dress staggered into Sarah's office without knocking. She appeared to be wearing high heels that appeared not to be her fit, or was her walk just crooked? Sarah thought to herself.Penelope paused, her hornyness disappearing the second she looked at the blonde woman seated at the secretary's desk. She was too beautiful to be a secretary if she removed the hideous glasses she had on."Can I help you?" Sarah spoke first.Penelope kept staring at her, she was different from all the previous secretaries that Liam used to hire. She did not fit the criteria, she looked way too young and beautiful."How old are you?" Penelope asked. "Pardon?" Sarah was taken aback by the question.Penelope rolled her eyes and staggered to Ezra's office door. She turned on the handle, but the door was locked.Sarah quickly got up."Excuse me, who are you? You just ca
Sarah opened her eyes, staring at the beautiful ceiling that stared back at her. She wanted to concentrate on such peace. Memories of the previous day were still vivid, but she wanted a new start. She looked to the other side of the bed and found it empty. Ezra had informed her he was going to go in for work early. The board had voted to reinstate him in order to cover up for Liam's crimes as they waited to make the world believe Liam never took over but just stepped in when Ezra was on leave. The company was distancing itself from Liam. He had no one, and Sarah couldn't help but feel sorry for the fool, though he deserved whatever shit he was going through. She dodged a bullet with him; she was lucky he only made her sign a contract to spy on his brother. Worse, he would have pimped her to some ugly old man.Just thinking about it made her skin crawl. She got out of bed and took a shower. She needed to get the fool out of her head. She ate her breakfast and asked Aron to accompany he
Ezra slowly raised his hands; he had made sure to remain on the door so that Penelope's back was facing the back door, just like he was instructed. She looked unstable; she did not appear to be joking around or having a bad day. She was there to kill and was going to make him watch. The police officers needed to hurry; he was running out of what to say to her. Watching his wife in the clutches of the mad woman was unbearable. He hated being helpless, and he was running out of patience."Wait, wait, I can help Liam out of prison. I can make the evidence disappear," an idea popped up.To his irritation, Penelope burst out laughing. "This is not about that stupid jealous pig!" she yelled. "Why do you always feel the need to want that ungrateful fool to like you?" she yelled at him.Ezra looked away."He hired me... or should I say pimped me to pretend to love you, and all the money you were giving me, we would blow it on wild sex, drugs, alcohol, and stupid things!" She kept laughing.
Sarah held her tummy, trying hard not to show fear. If she was going to die, she was going to die brave."What exactly did I take that was yours?" she asked."How dare you ask such a stupid question?" Penelope yelled, moving closer and pointing the gun at her."I need Clarification, I do not see anything in my house that belongs to you," Sarah replied, showing no fear.Penelope looked around and noticed the packing. "Going to move in with the cripple?" she laughed."Yes, we plan to raise our baby together and hold a wedding after I give birth," Sarah smiled.Penelope charged at her and pointed the gun at her face."Get on your knees, you stupid woman!" she yelled. "Get on your knees!"Sarah slowly got on her knees."You think this is a joke! You think I will not blow your head and leave your brains for that stupid Ezra to come and mop up?" She yelled.Sarah kept quiet."You are now quiet!" Penelope yelled, hitting Sarah with a gun on the forehead.Sarah winced a little but maintained
Penelope arrived at Melrose exhausted. She had to beg for a ride from a stranger since going back to Ezra's mansion was out of her options. She walked to the entrance and noticed it was too crowded as if something was going on.She ran upfront and noticed some board members. The elevator stopped, and Liam walked out with cuffs behind his hands and two men in jackets following behind him.She hid in a corner, confused. From the badges, she could tell the men in suits were FBI.She covered her hands over her mouth and watched as Liam was escorted out like some hard-core criminal. The entire building was brought to a standstill. All the employees want the front roll seat with cameras taking videos and photos. Penelope was aware she was supposed to run after them, stop them, or ask what was going on, but she chose to hide. The jerk left her in the mountains so she was not going to pretend. She did not want to be implicated in whatever he was being arrested for.As soon as the car drove
Liam quickly snapped out of his shock and got up. He could not believe what he was hearing."What did you just say?" he asked."You heard me perfectly and loudly," Ezra replied."You signed a document binding you to sell the company to me!" Liam scattered everything that was on the desk, sending it to the floor.Aron heard the noise and quickly ran upstairs, where Marian, Chelsea, and Sarah were, and informed them of the visitors. They all ran downstairs to Ezra's office, where they found Liam yelling at the top of his voice while Penelope was standing in the corner."You are not going to get away with this! Not when you signed the contract!" he yelled."Sue me; you are free to sue me," Ezra replied."Get out of my house!" Marian yelled. "Get out now!" She ran to her son's side and ordered Aron to go and get the gun."These animals have been a thorn in my son's butt for too long!" she yelled.Penelope ignored her, her eyes fixed on Sarah's tummy. There was no way she managed to get Ez
Liam sat in his office, admiring the numbers on his screen. The progress he had made in less than a month was astonishing. He was nearing the value that Ezra wanted to buy the shares at. One more week and the company was going to be officially his.He got up and poured himself a glass of wine to celebrate. He could only imagine his stupid brother's face, watching him bring life to the company. The door opened, and Penelope walked in."You are just in time for a mini-celebration," he said, getting another glass."Celebration for what?" Penelope asked. "I will only come and pour a glass with you when you officially take over the company," she added, taking a seat."You are such a party pooper," Liam sneered at her."Numbers are nothing when there is a crazy man with a temper on the other side," she warned."Ezra will sell; he already signed a document binding him to sign," Liam pointed out."What if he has healed and wants to concentrate on the company?' she asked. Liam paused with his
Sarah could not believe what was happening in front of her, but him trying to kneel was straining his spine, which was not good for his health, so she ran to him."Ezra stop!" She knelt on her knees and tried to hold him, but Ezra wanted to apologize. From day one, he put her into sh*t; he made sure he reduced her to sh*t, but she kept going back to him over and over again no matter the kind of shit he put her through. She was his second chance all alone, but his stupidity to hold on to her mistakes and his mistakes when she almost cost him a chance at a happy ending."I am sorry, Sarah. I am sorry for being an animal to you," he said, tears running down his face. "I have so much anger inside that it blinds me, and I fail to condone people's mistakes," he said to her.Sarah hugged him; she had no idea whether it was because he was on his knees, or the effort he was making but all the anger he previously had for him disappeared."I am sorry Ezra," she wiped her tears. "I should have t
The ride to the hospital was in silence, Sarah had requested to ride with Aron in front of the limousine. She needed to process Ezar's confession without having to look at him.She had no idea whether to believe him or not. When she slept with him, he was hard in seconds. There was no sign of him having problems; he was perfect for someone who was in a wheelchair. She tried remembering the details again but could not find faults. Was he really only capable of getting it up with her?"She tried looking back, but there was a barricade in her way that demarcated the front and the back."Do you want me to open it?" Aron asked."No, no, no," Sarah replied, looking away."Would you open the window for me?" she requested, trying to open her side of the window."I can turn the air conditioning on," Aron suggested."No, I want fresh air," Sarah replied. At the back, Ezra was visibly shaking. When Sarah worked with him, she was 24/7 with him. The woman practically lived with him. The baby was h
Sarah kept driving with no idea where she was going. Marian's reaction kept running over and over again in her head. She was hoping for Marian to be on her side, but instead, the woman appeared to be worse than her useless son. Every move she was making was turning out to be a nightmare. No job, no money for rent, and was now pregnant for a man whose family did not want anything to do with her.She looked around, noticing she had no idea where she was and that it was getting dark. She was also running out of fuel; she needed to stop her car. She looked around and noticed a parking space. She drove in and stopped, tempted to scream, but the voices of laughing children prevented her. She appeared to be in some sort of children's park. She looked at her arms and noticed the red patches from the slaps she received from Marian. The woman was crazy; she grabbed her purse, checking if she had any money for fuel, but did not even find a coin."Fuck!" she screamed this time. She was now the m
