Chapter 33

A short time later, I hurried up the stairs to my apartment, shooting apprehensive glances over my shoulder to make sure no one was following me. Man or beast.

When I didn't see anything, I shoved the door open, then slipped inside, bolting it behind me. Afterward, I slid to the floor, wrapping my arms around my middle. I didn't know what to think. The possibility of there being creatures such as I had witnessed had held my mind captive for days now. But to see the reality of them? My God, they were beyond anything my imagination could have ever created.

I wanted to confide in someone what I had experienced. But to do so would be a confession of madness. However, the images were burned into my brain.
