In the days that followed, the tension grew thick as the city braced for the full moon. The whispers of the French Quarter grew more insistent, tales of the Lycan rising to the surface as the nights grew longer and the air grew heavier with the scent of rain.

I found myself unable to focus on my work, my thoughts consumed by the book. The thought of a humanlike creature that carried a genetic gene of a wolf, capable of transforming under the light of the full moon was fascinating yet terrifying. I was obsessed with the thought.

The night of the full moon approached, and with it, a restlessness grew within me. I found myself pacing the floor, the pages of the book forgotten on my bedside table. The whispers of the Quarter grew louder, more insistent, as if the very walls of the apartment were alive with the secrets they held.
