Seth pov

"You did what?" My voice trembles as I take a step back. I wish I could scream and shout, raise my hand at this little shit, or do anything close to that, but I can't.

My own son... How could he? I know anyone can say something hurtful, especially if they are guided by emotion, but to say something like that to his brother. All this, even though Luka knows the nightmare we had to go through to keep Lenox with us. And all this, even though Luka knows how much these words would shatter his brother.

I've failed as a mother. I've failed my sons, and, most importantly, my family. How did I fail to notice the monster hiding within Luka?

I put a hand over my mouth to stifle the sob that escapes me. Pregnancy hormones and confessions like this don't mix well.

I look at my son and wonder where I went wrong with him. Growing up, Luka's always been a charming young man, and he didn't change over the years. He always thought about how others might feel and never failed to show co

Sarah pov Pain. Nothing but pain, a thousand times worse than one from the heat. My body burns; the muscles tense and relax in violent, rapid jerks, and my head feels like a bucket overflowing with lava. What on earth has happened to me? Hissing, I open my eyes and immediately close them- the bright light stings and makes the unbearable feeling even worse. I have to take a deep breath until my heartbeat slows down and I can try again. If I don't find a way to calm down, my heart might burst through my ribcage. I try to lift my arms and legs; they seem to be working perfectly; apart from the physical pain, I'm fine. What happened? I furrow my brows and concentrate on the remnants of the memories. The playroom. Lenox. The half-shifted beast. "Oh, God, no," I whisper, fighting the pain coursing through my body as I raise my hand to my neck. I know, for a fact, that he bit the right side of my neck, but no matter how hard I try to find the scar- there isn't one. It can't be tha

Lazarus povLuka's been on my back since yesterday. I refuse to speak to him, look at him, or even acknowledge his presence. He is as much of a brother to me as Lenox, but Luka has taken it too far.I understand the brotherly rivalry and even the jealousy. What I don't understand is the display of pure, deep hatred for someone who has done everything to deserve his love. Lenox is crazy. He's messed up so deep in his roots that there's no way to fix him, but beyond that, he's an amazing, trustworthy and hard-working man who deserves the best in life. But despite our brother's good qualities, Luka pushes them aside and focuses on the bad ones. God, if only this idiot knew what happened to Lenox when he set out to avenge the attack. If only someone besides Lenox could tell the story. Lenox never shared the full details about what happened then. We know that the experience was horrifying, so much so that we lost the Lenox we knew and gained a new person instead of the one we had.But

Sarah pov *Don't tell me you were expecting the baby Jesus because if you did, I have to disappoint you. It's only me, you know, the lost cat you used to miss. But it's okay if you don't miss me anymore. I can hide and come back in like ten years or so.* Oh, God, it's her. It's Talia. I'm so happy I don't notice my heartbeat speeding up and myself hyperventilating until my cat points it out. I can't believe she's here, with me, in my head! But how? How could she break through these shields that we couldn't move for years? How could she break out and speak so freely now that I barely remember the sound of her voice? And the feeling, God, the feeling inside me. I feel complete, without flaws or worries. She's the other half that I was missing, and now that she's back- there are no mountains too high for us to climb. Together, we can do anything. "Talia," I whisper, savouring the feeling. Saying her name out loud has always been sort of a taboo thing for me. The thought of her abs

Luka pov My brother's words hit me. They struck me so hard that I finally understood my mistakes, and now, I better figure out how to fix everything. It's clear that Lazarus doesn't want me near him now. So, once he's done with explaining and shows me the door, I nod and leave his office. I won't leave his district just yet; there's a stop I have to make before I get to Lenox's district. God, I hope he's there and will agree to talk to me. I know he doesn't have to listen to me; after all, this mess is my fault, but I can only hope he'll let me in and listen. Lenox must hate me, fuck it, even I hate myself at this point. Luka: the worst fucking brother known to mankind and the entire shifter species. I stay near my brother's office door for a few more minutes to calm down. A pissed-off Alpha is a dangerous Alpha, and I don't want to go after members of the Lazarus pack just because I'm a first-class moron. After a few deep breaths, my heartbeat slows, and sweat no longer b

  • Caught by the Alphas   Okay, just hear me out...

Lazarus povI groan at the frantic knocking on my office door. I hate it when someone decides to disturb me when I'm busy, but more than that, I hate when that someone is the same man I told to leave my district. Luka must have a fucking death wish if he decides to come back here and try to talk about his shitty behaviour ever again. "Didn't I tell you to leave my packhouse and district, Luka?" I growl as he still stands on the other side of the door. I don't understand what's so hard about following my words? I never told him that I needed five minutes to calm down and that he could come back. All I wanted was some peace and time for myself. "You did, and that's why I'm not storming into your office now. I'm trying to respect your wishes and boundaries, Laz, but this is a big deal; believe me, it's so big you need to hear about it. Besides, you're about to switch to the Alpha mindset, not brother, so may I come in?" Luka's voice is strangely stern. If it were anything about the

  • Caught by the Alphas   We mean no harm.

Sarah povI'm not myself anymore. This shift is nothing compared to those I've experienced over the years. For as long as I can remember, I struggled to shift; it took an agonisingly long time while my bones snapped and rearranged for the cat.Today, however, it was quick. It was only seconds, which was at least ten times worse than any other shift ever before. Unlike my previous experiences, I was forced back, somewhere in Talia's mind, whereas usually, it was just me who was present. God, how lonely Talia must've felt all those years, stuck in the back of my mind, hopeless and unable to communicate. My poor, beautiful Talia. But that's not all that surprises me. Talia is massive. All these years, everyone thought my cat was small and weak because that's how we presented ourselves next to every other cat, but I loved her nevertheless. I didn't care that she was different in more ways than one; all I wanted was to have Talia back. To have her by my side, not just her body, while

Alpha West pov Annon has decided to stay here until we find my son. The problem is that we can't find Angus. No matter how hard we try, how deep we dig and how far in other territories we go. It's like he's disappeared into thin air, and I'm afraid it's really that damn psychopath who kidnapped him and hid my son. Besides, Sarah's still missing, and that bitch will be in heat again soon, so I need her here. Alpha Lenox is ruthless, abusive, elusive, and, worst of all, unstoppable. He believes there are no consequences for him, no matter how far he goes. I've heard so many stories about that man; ever since he was a child, he's been out of it. Unlike his brothers, Lenox feels no compassion for others and cannot empathise. If it were Alpha Lazarus or Luka, I could bargain with them for the information, for both would rather choose peace than war, but Lenox would rather die than step back for the sake of peace. If I, or any of my men, entered the territory of Lazarus or Luka, th

Lenox povTo surprise the dickhead, I hid in the closet. Ironic, isn't it? But then, the stupid Dollar store detective had to appear right before my grand entrance and ruin the surprise I had planned. Thanks a lot. Not. Aside from everything that annoys me, the closest thing I could find to scare the soul out of that bastard was a damn spoon. What am I supposed to do with it? Wave it in front of him and ask him out for a cup of tea? *You know, we could always shove that spoon down his throat and watch him slowly choke to death,* Atlas suggests. Although I hate to admit that the idea sounds tempting, he actually has a beautiful mind when it comes to killing, minus the lack of blood and guts. *If we are to use this thing to kill him, we need something more impressive. To let everyone know who did it,* I wiggle my eyebrows in excitement as Atlas chuckles. Today is a good day. We're on one wave, and both have way better moods than the day before.Atlas perks up, a little more excited

  • Caught by the Alphas   THE END

Sarah pov I gulp as I scan the faces of the men in my room. A part of me wants to have Seth by my side, but she’s too good to stick around now. The thing I mentioned earlier, the possibility of terminating the pregnancy- it was my idea. I spoke about it and Seth just held my hand and said she would support me regardless of what I do. I saw the tears and pain in her eyes, I saw how much against the idea she was, but being the amazing woman she is, Seth stood by my side. And she would now too, but this time, I need to listen to the men who love me and make the decision with them. Only them. My mind races, thousands of thoughts run through the deepest parts, and each scream something new. Should we know what’s hiding inside our baby? Sure, the possibility of it being evil is small, but even a good being wouldn’t take over a body that isn’t born yet without a reason. Than said it himself, the holy beings come here to stop the evil deeds and this situation is too grand for him t

  • Caught by the Alphas   Do you want to find out or should we keep it a secret?

Sarah pov It’s not so much that Than makes me nervous, because he sure as hell does, it’s more his words that leave me speechless. He’s implying that whatever is living inside my body must be someone who’s sent for a greater good. There’s no saying if he could be right or if he’s tricking me, but the look on his face doesn’t resemble someone who’s coming here to play games. Besides, technically, he has no reason to fool me. His daughter lives inside Lenox, he has an obvious attraction toward Seth, and so far, he has proven himself to be worthy. Maybe he’s the one person I should listen to? “Okay, so what do we do next?” I ask, probably sounding a bit too uneasy. Not that he could blame me given that the past events keep piling up and the entire family seems to lack time to deal with the issues. “Nothing. We wait,” Than leans back in his seat as the tension finally leaves his features. At this point, as confused as I am, maybe he is right. Perhaps sitting back and waiti

  • Caught by the Alphas   Do you think we’re in danger?

Luka pov Lazarus stares at dad with the same confused, shocked, and wide-eyed expression as I do, but as it seems, it’ll take a while for my brother to come back to his senses. Possibly even too long, so this time, I have to step up and give him a break. Turning my full attention to dad, I clear my throat and slightly tilt my head as I speak, “Whatever is your idea about this situation, you can’t blame us. The last time we were with Lenox, he promised to follow us in a bit. We talked to Sarah and just left the room, and as you might have noticed, both of us kept glancing around. We were looking out for Lenox and decided to wait for him here.” Now, dad’s facial expression mimics ours, and all of us look like a bunch of very confused idiots. “That means you didn’t give Lenox a damn blessing to go there?” Dad turns his attention back to Lazarus. My brother shakes his head, still somewhat shocked, yet slowly regaining his senses. I have no idea what dad is thinking right now, but no

  • Caught by the Alphas   An excellent slave, yet a terrible master.

Sarah pov“You have to be kidding me,” I groan as I close my eyes and try to grab control over my emotions and senses. In all honesty, I’m a bit over everyone telling me what I’m supposed to do. No, perhaps not even just a bit- a lot, damn it. One person comes in here to tell me it’s better to do this, and the other arrives to tell me the complete opposite. How am I to make the right decision if everyone seems so indulged in my life that they need to make the decisions for me, or even try to shift my judgement?Isn’t this the one matter that I should discuss with my partners and come up with the best thing to do for our future? Yes, I already made the mistake of thinking that I had all the right to make this choice on my own, but thank God, Lazarus opened my eyes and reminded me it’s as much my decision as it is his brother’s. But now, there’s a demon sitting next to my bed and claiming I can’t even think about the termination. Does he have any idea who resides in my baby? What if

Lenox pov“Holy fucking sticks and bricks, let me shit myself while you’re acting all mysterious and dangerous, why don’t you? Come on, tell me and I promise I won’t steal shit here,” I grin at the blob and hide my hand behind my back to cross my fingers. For as long as I keep them crossed, no one can claim I lied. Alright, I’m lying, I still fully intend to steal something, but the creature doesn’t need to know. “Follow me, but for those answers, keep in mind that everyone pays a price,” she whispers as if she’s trying to make a fucking deal with me now. What the hell is even happening? I promised mom I wouldn’t make a deal with the devil and this thing before me looks like I imagine a devil would. I want the heart, but the price? Yeah, for as long as I don’t know what it is, I’m not that keen to exchange my left nut for the heart. I need my left nut. Panic seizes me as images of this, whatever it really is, ehem, woman, grabbing my nut, runs through my mind. I quickly lift the

  • Caught by the Alphas   Who is it?

Sarah pov “He’s right,” I let out a long, shaky breath as I admit the one thing I wish I wouldn’t have to admit out loud. Lazarus might have reacted to my words in a way I didn’t expect him to, but at least, he didn’t shy away from telling me everything he thinks of the decision I’m trying to make. Regardless of the circumstances and setting, I can’t make the choice on my own because Lenox is present. Often, women have to carry the burden of life-changing choices on their own simply because they are alone. But I’m not. And I know that I won’t be even if I pressure the matter and the choice, I thought was the right one. But what if it’s not? What if Lazarus is right in more ways than I can think of? What if the next time Lenox and I try for a baby, we have to face the same situation as now? I know, we don’t have much time to make the decision, but we also don’t know how dangerous the thing is that’s taking over my baby. “What do you mean?” Seth asks, concern crossing her fea

  • Caught by the Alphas   You found me.

Lenox pov~If you do this, I will never forgive you,~ As snarls at me as I hop through the shadowy, eerie-looking forest. Shit, this place feels like home. I could totally see myself living here, building a small cabin and all that nonsense. While As keeps fuming, I stop to take in the scenery and enjoy the silence surrounding me. The tree branches look like they’re ready to grab my body and gut me on the spot. How hot is that? I can almost imagine how I could take one of those fucking vile-looking branches and make myself a new, exclusive spoon. Maybe that thing could have a mind of its own and attack people on my commands?Once I’m done with my task, I might grab a souvenir on my way out of here. While my mind wanders to beautiful possibilities, As can’t seem to shut the fuck up, so I snap at her. “Because I should forgive you for nearly killing my brother, huh? Real smooth, Miss As, real fucking fantastic ants farm smooth.” She scoffs. ~You forgot who keeps you alive.~ Yeah,

  • Caught by the Alphas   To try for another baby?

Lazarus pov“Kill the baby?” The question leaves my lips before I can stop it. I didn’t intend to be so straightforward or come across as a complete asshole, but sometimes, even if I try my darndest, I can’t stop myself from saying some things. All eyes in the room focus on me. I guess saying something in the lines as Sarah did, the fancy wording of termination and all, seems more humane than the actual truth. All things aside, that’s exactly what she’s saying. She is planning to kill the baby. I raise my hands and shake my head. “We need to discuss this. All of us. Just think of the possible consequences and the reaction Lenox will have to these news. Like it or not, he’s the biological father of that child, and he has a say too. Yes, it’s your body and your choice, but thus far, I haven’t heard anything from you that implied that you didn’t want this baby. In fact, you appear to be rather happy about the possibility of becoming a mother.”Everyone in the room sits silent. Sarah

  • Caught by the Alphas   Lying is unacceptable.

Luka povWhen Laz and I step into Sarah’s hospital room, she’s already wide awake, grinning at our mom. My heart skips a beat at the sight before us. Not only the adoration in the eyes of the women I love the most but I’m taken aback by how much at ease Sarah appears. Her cheeks are slightly flushed, so I assume they were sharing some secrets or spent the time laughing at their weird jokes. However, despite the cheerful energy that surrounds them, I can’t help but feel a little suspicious. As they smile at us, I notice how the smiles don’t reach their eyes and it’s all the confirmation I need to accept that something’s wrong. Not only wrong but they’re also trying to hide it from us. Whatever it is, I’ll figure it out sooner or later, because just like Sarah said- if we want this to work, we must remember how important communication is. Sucking in a deep breath, I brace myself for the possible backlash but still go with the initial plan and dive right in, “What’s wrong?”Sarah a
