Chapter 5
What the hell.
I stared at the crumpled envelope in my hand. Still stunned in disbelief, my brain can’t formulate my thoughts. Then, as if someone drops a bomb in my brain and everything scattered and I don’t know where to start.
Why? The way she acted as if im the biggest jerk she ever met. I’m not the one who cheated. All that I did was give everything to her and make sure she was taken care of?
I glanced around at the messy apartment. Everything was so plain, no refrigerator, the two hanging cabinet doors were barely hanging.
“Oh, god forbid. How come Cameron survived in this place?” I said. With a frown, I harshly open the cabinet, and I mentally curse again. It was empty.
“Is she eating or what?”
My question was answered when I see a strange thing I ever saw in my thirty years of existence, and it was on the top of the table. And the peculiar food has a weird long round shape covered with banana leaves?
“Damn!” I hastily rummaged through the rest of the kitchen, growing more furious when I found nothing more. “How was she surviving? And why was she living like this?”
Since her living room is two steps away from the kitchen, I stand in the middle of the living room, and like her kitchen nothing else to see here. No television as if she forbid to entertain herself, where in fact she works in Tv station before. She’s perfect in front of the camera.
I glanced back down at the check and shook my head. I stared at the eight-figured numbers. It is enough amount for her to live good, modest life for years to come. The ink had run in several places, and it was smudged with fingerprints. But she never tried to cash it. Why?
There were so many questions running around in my head that I couldn’t process them all.
The door swung open. I looked at it, hoping that it was Cameron, I had so much to ask, and only she could answer. But, to my dismay, it was Damian.
“Your Highness, Senorita is in the house of her friend Lena. Do you want me to guard her?” Damian said.
“Ask someone to guard her. You’ll come with me.” I said firmly. And as I continue to instruct Damian, Matias walks inside the apartment, and we are big and proud young fellas. The apartment looked tiny, and it’s suffocating.
“Are we done here?” Matias boredly asks.
“No, we're not yet done. What happened to your face?” I ask when I noticed his swallowed face, especially on his left cheek. Whoever punches him, he or she must be good.
“Lady Lena, punched him, Your Highness,” Damian said, and he contained his smile. “…and it was epic.”
“I already like her. She’s one brave soul.” And I can’t help myself to laugh as if Matias found his match.
“You should really see his face,” Damian added. “Do you want me to do a background check, Sir Matias? It seems you’ll need it sooner or later.”
Matias fake a laugh. “Ha! Do I look like I’m attracted to that a****n woman? Hell no! I just found my freedom, and I hate a woman who loves wedding dresses, and she’s one of those, I could tell. So, what’s that?” and then he snatched the crumpled envelop that I’m holding, and there he saw that Cameron never touched the money. Do I need to tell him that Cameron threw that piece of paper straight to my face? Nah…maybe not.
“Did she feel guilty over what she had done? And she was ashamed to take the money from you after her betrayal act? Or she realized that she doesn’t need someone like you? And you’re just wasting your time coming here? Cause’ she’s pregnant, and you’re not the father?” Matias said with a bit of remorse on his last remark.
“Solid burn, Matias, solid burn,” I said, shaking my head. “Whatever the reason is. I won't stop until I get the answer.”
“Yeah, typical, Alejandro. Suit yourself. I’m just here eating popcorn while waiting for your downfall.”
I just shrugged my shoulder. I had so much on my plate right now, no place for Matia’s inside joke that no one buys. “Enjoy the show.”
One thing was bugging my mind. Clearly, Cameron wasn’t taking good care of herself. Living in a run-down apartment with a job that obviously didn’t net her enough money to feed herself, much less live a comfortable life. I had always taken care of her in the past, and I would do it again. Whether she liked it or not. And now with the baby on the line. What in the world was she going to do when the baby came? Whether it was his baby or not, I Couldn’t allow myself to walk away. Not when she had meant so much to me.
“Damian, ready, the car we’re going somewhere.”
“Yes, your highness.” Damian slightly bowed his head and walked outside the apartment.
“Damn! Make sure it’s a clean place, Alejandro, or I’ll leave you here, and you’re stuck in this country.” Matias said, shaking his head while tailing Damian.
“Have you already forgotten that I own half of Spain and also a private plane? Or do I need to remind you that I—”
“Fuck! I hate you already.” Matias raises his middle finger in my direction and disappears.
“Crazy.”
For the last time, I looked at Cameron’s apartment and walked outside the door, and close it.
***
“Damn! Should I be happy, right? We’re inside the mall but fuck you, Alejandro. Who gives you an authority to make me…” Matias said, panting and his about to lose his patience, “make me carry these paper bag full of maternity dresses.”
“What? You said you’d come with me and I need a hand. Damian can’t carry two bags and many more.”
“Fuck! From today on, I Matias Roman renounce my brotherhood to Alejandro fucking Sancho.”
“Okay,” I said. My attention was on the cute infant bodysuit clothes, it has raffles on the belly part, and it has a print saying ‘Daddy’s Girl’ and a gold crown. I was so drawn in the clothes and forgot Matias's sentiment. So I grab the pink and the black clothes, and I hold them with a smile on my face. I showed it to Damian and Matias.
“Damn! Alejandro, what’s the use of your ‘other’ bodyguard? This is one of the reasons why I hate marriage—”
I cut him off. “What do you think?” I said pertaining to the baby dress, “Cute, right?”
“Yeah,” Matias agreed.
“Now, I don’t know what color to choose. I love black, but the baby will be looked pretty if she wore this pink one.” I ask with a frown.
“Choose the black one. She’s a badass baby.”
“But, I like the pink one.”
“No, the baby loves black, remember dark colors? They love that.” Matias said, nodding his head.
“Your High—”
“Stop right there, Damian.” Then, signaling Damian to shut his mouth, my attention was still on Matias. “What do you mean the baby loves the dark colors? Where did you get that information?”
“Remember? When the baby cries at night, which is, by the way, it’s a fact. Your world will become dark. So, yeah, babies love dark colors, and they will paint your life dark—”
“Oh, god forbid. Will the both of you stop it. Your Highness, Why not brought all the colors the rainbow has.” Damian said.
“Yeah, that’s a great idea.”
“Oh, lord.” I heard the tiredness in Damian's voice.
When I look at them, I mentally facepalm. I think I just brought the whole maternity section on this boutique we're at, and now I’m invading the infant section. Maybe, I should stop right here. I looked at the petite attendant lady with chinky eyes and a perfect bun.
“I’ll get all the color available on this specific infant dress only. I don’t like the other one.”
I see how her facelift up. “T-thank you so much, Sir.” And she rushed to get the item that I want.
“Miss, leave all the light colors, just give us the dark colors,” Matias said at the lady.
“No, get all the colors available,” I said, and I use my authoritative voice, which I usually use if I want them to follow my command. “Get over with the dark color, Matias.”
“What? I’m just telling the truth.” He said, shrugging his shoulder.
“Whatever.”
“Your highness.” One of my bodyguards came to me rushing.
“Oh, good lord, you’re finally here. Now, take these.” Matias barged in and gave all the paper bags he was holding. The bodyguard looks at me, confused. I signal him to follow Matias. “Great. Im out in here. Chiao amigo.” And just like that his already gone.
“Now, what are you saying?”
“Your brother, Sir. He is also here in the Philippines.” He said while having trouble carrying the bags that Matias gives him.
“What?”
I don’t want to be mad, but Alexander gives me a headache, and now another question is added to my list. Is he here because he also knows where Cameron is? Or does he already know?
“Damn! Damian, guard Cameron and report to me everything.” And I looked at the bodyguard who delivered the news. “And you, I want you to keep an eye on my brother and tell me his whereabouts.”
“Yes, Your highness.” And they both said in unison.
Damn you, Alexander. I mentally cursed my insolent brother.
Cameron's Now… Now what? “Senorita,” What I’m going to do now? “Senorita Cameron?” A voice keeps on calling me, but I didn’t look back. My mind is in chaos from the bombardment of anger and shock. Who wouldn't be? After six long months, he will show up and insult me again? I need to breathe. I need to compose myself. I need to clear my mind. But, I know Alejandro and his capabilities, and he will force another confrontation again. So, I need to prepare for that. “Senorita, where
Cameron's“What will happen to us now?” I said with a defeated voice. Lena gave me glass of orange juice, she seated next to me in their old bamboo sofa, they just put an thin layer of foam to make it comfortable to seat.“Uncle Logan is looking for Antonio right now. So, let’s wait here. Maybe, god have mercy on us he will find Antonio, and we can file a case and somehow get our money back. I’m still hoping, Cammy. Now that I badly need that money for mom’s medication, not to mention that I work hard for that money.” Lena said sadness is evident in her eyes. It saddens me cause’ this is the first time I saw her being like this. Lena is a bubbly girl and full of positivity and always had a bright smile ready for everyone.“I can’t believe that we fall for that scumbag words.” Lena can’t help but clinched her fist.“Yeah, me either. Antonio’s
Chapter 8 “Are you ready?” Lena asks, Outside the room. “Yes, just give me a minute.” I didn’t go home last night cause’ It’s raining so hard, and Aunt Maria decided to let me sleep here in their house. I didn’t complain. Being sick is not on my list right now. I grab my handbag, and I’m still wearing my dress since yesterday, a blue maternity dress. I open the door, Lena’s bright smile welcomed me. “We still had an hour. We can still go to your house so you could change your dress, and we will head to the café.” Lena said as we walked to their door. Aunt Maria is still asleep. I leave a note saying how grateful I am.&nb
I thought I’d have a better morning, but it turned out, It was and always be Alejandro ruining it by just showcasing how wealthy he is. That drives my irritation higher than Everest mountain. “Help me find a new apartment,” I said to Lena. She is eating a tuna sandwich that she happily made in my magical kitchen. I call it magical cause’ it all happened in just one night. I leave my house for one freaking night, and it turns into a first-class hotel room the following day? What does Alejandro want this time? Does he think that I’ll be an easy biatch? And expect me to rush into his side and declare how sorry I am that I leave him? Damn! “Why? You don’t like i
Chapter 10- Cameron With a heavy breath and sweat drips on my forehead, I can barely move because of my belly. But I still manage to push the big box filled with two expensive lamp shades. I felt like I was possessed by something. Knowing that I don’t have enough money annoyed me. But, when I came home, and all the expensive furniture welcomed me, an idea came into my mind. Since Alejandro decided for my life, he fired me on my job, renovated my house as if he owned it, glad that the landlord did not say a thing. Oh, I almost forgot Alejandro also buy this whole building. “It is payback time,” I said out loud, and the next thing I would do is, moved all the appliances that I could put in the auction. Since they are still brand new, I could put an original price on them, or maybe a twenty percent discount.
Chapter 11 Alejandro stared at me incredulously. “Do you honestly expect me just to walk away now?” And then he shoved the checked back into his pocket, and his lips are thin as if he was controlling himself to lash at me after all that I have said and done at him. “We have a hell of a lot to work out, sweetie. I am not going anywhere, and neither are you. So the first thing we’re going to do is go to the doctor so you can get a proper checkup. You don’t look well. I can’t be any blunter than that. Try me.” I slowly stood up and stared at his golden eyes. “I am not going anywhere with you. If you do not give me the check, then get out. We have nothing more to discuss. Ever.” “Alejandro fingered the paper i
Chapter 12 “I never thought I could witness like this,” Alejandro murmured his eyes is still on the monitor. “Would you like to find out what you are having?” Doc. Tristan Offered. “We can take a look.” “No… no, I don’t think so,” I said. “I want it to be a surprise.” “Sure thing,” The doctor took a few more minutes and then stood up, wiping my belly clean. And he handed me a picture that he printed out of the baby’s profile and returned to his clipboard.&
Chapter 13 When we arrived at my apartment, I got out of the car before Alejandro could come around and ushered me, I hurried up the stairs. I could hear him behind me catching up. So I double my steps and hurriedly get inside my apartment, and when I tried to shut the door Alejandro put up his hand and pushed his way inside. “We have to talk, Cameron.” He demanded. Both of his hands are in his side. I whirled around. “Yes, we do. You said we had to talk about the check. You were certainly willing to throw it at me when you called me whore. Where is it?” I said gesturing my right hand in front of me. “I want it now and I don’t give a damn what you think about me. I am taking it.”
I squashed the flash of sympathy I felt for him. It might explain why, but it did not begin to excuse the way he had used me. “It is in the cards, though uncertain as yet. You sound surprise to me?” “I am.” Not as surprised as I had been when I had learned that the couple who had seemed a perfect match on every level were breaking up. Until the moment that the divorce had been announced, I had expected a dramatic reconciliation, but the Sancho divorce, like the break-up. Had been low key and bizarrely amicable based on what they called a mutual decision. But had that mutual, civilized, still-good-friend
Preston’s I am not following this instinct that had taken an enormous chunk of my willpower, but the effort had faded into irrelevance beside the will power I had needed to tap into just to stop myself from taking Beatrice in my arms to comfort her. Just the sight of her standing there, white-faced and shaking, looking so vulnerable and fragile, had awoken every protective instinct I had and some new ones. While she had struggled not to cry, I had struggled to keep my distance. I hadn’t allowed myself to even touch her. I just couldn’t. if I had known it wouldn’t have stopped at comforting her. I
My brows lifted. “What are you talking about now? Cheated…?” I asked irritably. “You are not making any sense.” Her face scrunched in an effort to hold back the tears that threatened to spill over. She lifted her chin and blinked hard. “Well, so sorry,” she drawled, “if I’ve lost my edge of clinical objectively, but I’ve never been in this situation before.” “And you think I have?” “Yes, I get it. You don’t need to spell it out.” She had been slow, but the penny had finally dropped. She knew why I was acting this way. “You th
“Was I drunk?” My simmering hostility in my manner as much as abrupt question made Beatrice blink numerous times. “What?” My eyes flashed. “Was I forcing myself on you? Por Dios, no, I was not!” “But, I never—” “So, at what point did I become a bad guy?” I demanded, cutting across her. “I never—” “The fact is, you were lucky enough that I was there, but you are too stubborn to admit it! You ar
But having it spelled out to me by Brian was a different matter. “I will never tie my hair back again,” I declared, striving for ironic mockery and delivering instead something a lot closer to frenzied panic, possibly because of the husky addition of, “because I live to please you,” and that statement was uncomfortably close to the truth. “Are you going to tell me now what I’ve done to upset you?” The quiet words sent a fresh flash of anger through me. “Let me think…” I said, adopting a mystified expression as I pressed a finger to the suggestion of a cleft in my firm, rounded chin. “Could it be something to do with the fact I don’t much like being used? How do you think would I feel having my br
Preston’s I had just filled the second champagne flute and was preparing to carry them into the bathroom with me when I heard the door open. I turned, glasses in hand, as Beatrice walked into the room, phone pressed to her ear. I noticed that she was not smiling. A man did not have to be particularly intuitive to see that Beatrice was not happy. I wondered what had occurred in the few minutes that we had been apart to account for her change of mood, but only in passing—my attention was focused on admiring how sinfully sexy she looked in a pink bra and a minuscule pair of matching silk sorts trimmed with lace. My throat was dry, my body hardened in lustful appreciation. I watched her advance. Each angry step makes her breast jiggle gently u
If this is just a dream, I am going to stay dreaming. “I am quite hungry,” I admitted. A sweet smile plastered on my face. “I love watching you eat,” he said when I was allowing myself to be tempted by another piece of cheese. “You do it with such…relish.” “You mean I am greedy.” “So am I every time I look at you.” “I feel so guilty.” I saw the flash of annoyance cross his face and added quickly, “Not about the food or the sex, but it’s a weekday and I haven’t done a scrap of work. It&r

His stare make me shiver and then I cried out loud when without a warning he pressed his face against my breast, my back arched as his tongue began to whip slowly across the peaks of my breasts, that still painfully sensitive from our recent intense lovemaking. When he loosed my hands to cup one quivering peak I tangled my fingers in his dark hair, pushing through the ebony strands still damp from our recent exertions to cradle his skull and hold him against me. My hands stayed in his hair when he lifted his head and grinned down at me. "Also there is no point trying to hide from me in a bed this small." The bed was vast but I let it pass. "I wasn't trying to hide," I protested. He arched an ironic brow, making my eyes slide guilty from his. "I was cold." "Cold?" Preston laid his hand possessively on the soft feminine curve
