Damien texted me while I was on my way home. I exchanged phones with him today. I'm now using mine.

He's already at home with Darya. Mrs. Smith left right after our argument. She was so angry and I had no courage and strength to stop her. I don't know her pain because I have my own pain.

The fact that my father was an offender makes me weak. He was so perfect in my innocent eyes before and now it's tainted.

I sucked my breath as I tried to ignore the thoughts in my head.

I calmed myself before I went home. Darya and Damien are in the kitchen, cooking.

I smiled as I watched them from the kitchen's entrance. Darya was sitting on the counter while Damien was in front of the stove.

They're oblivious to my presence because they're talking.

"I love chicken, daddy!"

Damien smiled at her. "I love chicken too!"

"How about mommy? Did she like chicken too?"

I entered the kitchen. "I love chicken but I love Darya more."
