Chapter 100 From Afar

Lucky's POV

I slowly dropped a flower on my father's tomb. I caressed his name engraved on the stone as I reminisced the days we spent together.

There's no pain anymore. I have already forgiven him for leaving us behind. I have already forgiven myself for not being able to do something to save her. Although, I'm still regretful for what he did. It broke me and my mom.

"Your dad was so happy when he first saw you, darling." Mom, on my side, rested her forehead on my shoulder. She's now fully healed and healthy.

She held my hand as she sniffed. "I-I remember the last time I talked to your dad. H-He was giving me a hint, darling. He said…women are strong. A wife can survive without a husband, but a husband couldn't live without a wife…"

I chewed my bottom lip. No! Dad was wrong. It was just the same. A wife can survive, yes, but she will never be happy again. Living without the man we loved dearly is just as good as dead.
