Nathan Masters' Point of View:

"But she's black"

The smile that I had slipped off my face. I loved my mother to death but what the fuck did she just say?

"What did you just say?" I asked her to make sure I heard her right.

"Your girlfriend is black," I grew tense when I felt Jade shift away from me.

"Do you have a problem with that?" I asked through gritted teeth.

As if sensing my impending fury she laughed it off and chose to make nice. Which was a good thing because I would not stand for any sort of racism against Jade even from family, especially from family.
