Chapter 189: Stay with me

"Welcome!" A loud voice made me snap my head up. There was a man announcing something from the altar and everybody fell silent at once.

"We are gathered today to witness the royal wedding of our King Asmodeus." He said. I bit my lip hard but Guela quickly pinched me. "Don't ruin your make-up!" She whisper-shouted at me and I couldn't help but smile. The announcer kept talking but the words hollowed out in my head. I was more interested in the people that were there. Scanning the entire crowd for any familiar faces, my eyes kept going back to the spot where Adrian was standing. If only these damn trees weren't in the way.

"This is where I leave you," Guela whispered to me, "before they notice that there are humans among us." I nodded without looking at her and kept my eyes on Briva, who was walking towards the aisle in her high heels.
