Chapter 117: A question

I stared at him. Eyes that I had learned to love looked back at me with pain hidden in them.

"Please. I cannot do this without you." He said to me.

Our skin was stuck onto each other. We were both still naked and he held his arms around me tightly. I could not walk away. I had to have this conversation with him.

"What about you marrying, Adrian?" I asked softly. The pain that was hidden in his eyes showed on his face. "Just give me some time to sort it, dove. I do not want a queen. I want you." He said with fire in his voice.

Searching his face for any hints of dishonesty, I looked down again.

"I don't know if your personal opinion matters, Adrian. If you have to marry someone, you have to do it. They will kill me." I stated, still looking down. It was the truth. I don't think any of the brothers wanted to marry. Would they take into account that a mere human could be killed, and that was the reason Adrian refused to walk down the aisle?

I don't think so.
