CHAPTER 5 - A WAY TO REPAY

And the reason why Rubia always took her anger out on the maids was that she was shamed at almost all the tea parties she was invited to. She was mocked by the other ladies because the crown prince did not love her or pay any attention to her.

Currently -

"Right, Is it true that I have been engaged...?" asked Rubia

"Yes, that is right... You have been engaged to the crown prince of the Kennedy Empire." answered the Duchess

"I see. "

Sarah's Pov -

She did not mention that it was a political marriage probably cause didn't want to add to the stress after the previous incident.

"If you wish then we could annul the engagement since you will probably feel uncomfortable being engaged to a person you hardly remember." said the Duchess

Sarah's Pov -

Well yes, I could avoid some major problems in the future if I annul this engagement out of my own selfishness. But, the engagement between the Royal family and the house of Duke of Charleston is not something that can be easily played off. And it will cause some serious problems to Rubia's parents so I will not be doing that.

"No, mom it's alright I'm pretty sure my memories will come back to me shortly." said Sarah

"Alright, dear." said the Duchess

"That's right... Mom, Dad I wish to apologize to all the servants of the house."

"Apologize...?!" exclaimed the Duke

"Yes, that's right... I must have treated them harshly before I lost my memories so I wish to do something to apologize."

"Ha-ha... All right so what do you plan on doing to apologize my dear child...?!" asked the duke in a curious manner

"Well for now the conclusion I have drawn from my conversation with the maid Sandra is that they will probably feel offended if I offer money to compensate for my past mistakes."

"I understand why they would feel offended but, what else can compensate their injuries if not money...?" asked the Duchess

"That was exactly what I thought so I came up with an idea of serving them some unique tea."

"Unique tea and since when have you learnt how to cook dear child...?!!" asked the Duke

"Well, I just researched and found out that commoners who rarely have the chance to drink tea which is an aristocratic drink would be quite happy if they had a chance to drink tea."

"I see you do make a point that not all commoners can afford tea leaves but what do you mean by a 'Unique tea'...?" asked the duke

"Well, I have yet to taste it but this is the recipe."

Sarah shows the paper she was holding in her hand to the couple. *

"These are some of the instructions on making a unique type of tea called the iced tea." said Sarah

"Iced tea...? It's the first time I've heard of it..." said the Duchess

"Well, yes.... it's not that popular but, it is a beverage that the servants enjoy especially during the heated summer."

"Well, it is quite a recipe and I'm pretty sure that the servants will enjoy it don't you think so, honey?"

"Yes, they are sure to be overjoyed...! " said the Duke as he smiled

"..?"

"It's a great plan dear...!" said the Duchess

"Thank you, mom, dad."

"Sure."

The next morning all the servants are asked to assemble. *

"Good morning...! The reason why I have called you all here is that I had lost my memories.

One of the things that I had observed from all of you is that... I had probably ill-treated many of you in the past." said Sarah

Sarah's Pov -

The servants all had an expression of shock I guess it's only natural for them to be shocked since the person that treated them as trash suddenly came and apologized to them, they would probably not accept the apology and ask for money instead.

"I am here to ask you for your forgiveness. I wish to take responsibility for my past actions so I had come up with the idea of making some ice tea for all of you. Of course it was only possible because of the help of Sandra. Though if any of you feel that this is not an apology sincere enough... I will provide money..."

Sarah's Pov -

The servants were all given ice tea and were served some snacks. I noticed many of them were quite happy with my apology. Only three maids were actually abused by Rubia. Sandra, Mary and Natalie. They were elderly women who aged about fifty or sixty... Natalie had come up to me and apologized because she wished to leave but, the other two remained by my side...

"None of you wish for money...!? But why...?"

"Miss, you have forgotten that we all have been with you ever since we were young and we know that sometimes when things do not always go down in your way you get upset and hit us but even then, we all are able to live and provide for our families thanks to you... So, we would be ungrateful if we were to ask you for money over the hard work you have done to set this up for us. We truly are thank full young Miss..!" said Sandra while the other maids nodded their heads and smiled

"Yes, miss we are thankful." said another maid named Mary

"Thank you, miss...!!" said the other maids as they joined

"I am truly grateful that you have accepted my apology in the future I promise you that I will repay the kindness you all have shown me by becoming some worth of the 'Charleston' Name". said Sarah
