First Day In Campus

Today is the first day of university. I arrived at the campus late because it was grandpa who accompanied me here since Mom is aboard and as usual dad went with her.

This morning I could not bring Grandpa out of the home without him doing his morning training.  Thus, we are late today.

As you have maybe guessed, grandpa is a kong Fu master, that's why despite his age or however busy he is, it won't affect his daily morning training.

When I got out of the car and stood in front of Lin college entrance; I was amazed by the college's modern architecture. It has a splendid view. 

Finally, I'm here, my first dream come true.

I always dreamt of joining this college from the first year in high school because although it has been renewed in recent years, it has the most astounding French language program studies and professors.

Today, I'm officially a student at Lin University, faculty of French Language and Literature. YES!

I was still in a daze when I heard a bang sound.

I jumped in my place, then hardly turn around just to see that it was grandpa who has thrown my luggage which landed next to my feet.

"Stop drooling over these buildings, they are not men. You have humiliated this old man; people will assume you are a country-bumpkin.”

“ Hmph! Quickly, go to your dorm! I'll head back now. Take care of yourself and if you need anything especially money, remember to contact your parents not me", he said guiltlessly.

After recovering from the fright, I carried my luggage to prevent it from falling again.

Everyone around was watching the drama starring me and grandpa.

I want to say: ‘Hey, old man! It's you who made me lose face in front of all my future classmates.'

But I know that if I said it out loud, I'll get a spanking in broad daylight. So it's best to stay silent.

As I was about to say goodbye to him, grandpa gave me a warm hug. I could even hear a sniffing sound.  I patted him in the back to reassure him.

Even though Grandpa's previous behavior may seem brutal but he is the kindest person for me. He still treats me as a five years old little girl.

I lived with him from that age to this day because my parents are most of the time either aboard or busy with work so he asked them to let me stay with him rather than travel back and forth with them.

He was my dad, mom, and instructor. He was stricter with me than my teachers in school, that's why I was always the first in my class from primary school to the university entrance exam where I scored the first.

He also took me as his disciple and taught me, Kung Fu. Hence, the young girl I'm today is all thanks to his hard work, of course, it was also thanks to my parents sponsoring.

Regarding my parents, I also love both of them and of course, they love me. After all, I'm their baby girl. They also provided for me, but because of their constant travels, they cannot give me all that a child needs. That's why grandpa called them my ATM.

Before bidding me farewell, Grandpa kept reminding me to stay safe and not fight with other girls; worrying that I will hurt one of them.

He also insists for me to stay away from bad guys.

" Anyway, all men are wicked so don't fight with them or get close to them, especially those from the Dramatic Arts Faculty. Don't forget.", he said earnestly.

I kept nodding my head in response to grandpa's constant nagging.

Before leaving, he gave me another hug and turned around to get in the car. The driver starts the car, then drove away.

I stayed planted in my place watching the car roll away farther and farther till everything become hazy because of the moisture in my eyes. I wiped away my tears and take my luggage heading in the direction of my dorm.

On my way to the dorms, I kept turning right and left admiring the campus and looking at other students who had come with their parents to show them their rooms and introduce them to their roommates.

After arriving in front of my dorm, and as I was enjoying myself in these spectacles, I noticed many of these students and their parents were looking at me with weird expressions of pity and disgust.

Strange!

I even heard a well-refined lady say to her daughter: " How can this kind of girl get to Lin University? Look at her clothes and her face? Didn't she have water at home to wash her face?".

Her daughter was even more arrogant than her,

she replied: " Mom, don't mind her, I'm sure she is not a student here. At most, she is a servant of a girl from a wealthy family who is a student at Lin U. You know that all the students here are rich heirs and heiress."

The mother and daughter duo’s conversation stunned me;

Then I remembered that because I was in a hurry this morning, I don't even know what I'm wearing.

Moreover, I have wiped my tear-stained face with my dirty hands, as I was holding my luggage who was thrown on the ground!

Anyway. Who cares!

Without paying attention to them, I got upstairs.

My room is on the fourth floor and it's in the middle of the corridor where there is a total of three rooms facing each other.

I took out my room keys, opened the door, and then got in.

Each dorm room could accommodate four people and had its own air conditioner and a suite bathroom. Besides me, the two other girls had already moved in.

Both Zhao Min and Ye Ying majored in Chinses language. It was the last roommate, Lee Jeong, who was the one also in French Language Faculty. Unfortunately, she had yet to arrive.

After putting down my luggage and introducing myself, we started chatting and bubbling about our majors and the campus, also about the campus forum gossips.

My roommates start chatting about the school hunks and the famous rich heirs. As I was not interested in the topic, I took my clothes, toiletries, and headed to take a bath.

At the bathroom entrance, there was a mirror hanging above the bathroom sink.

There, I saw a beggar's face with the same features as mine.

What the Hell!

Shocked, I raised my hand to touch my face, and then I screamed so loudly that my roommates came running to the bathroom to check on me.

"What happened?"

"Wei Wei, what's wrong?"

Speechless, I kept touching my face with a hand and point out to the mirror with the other hand.

Finally, I spoke: " Is this me? Is this my face? No wonder that girl said that I was a servant. Oh MY Gosh. "

At this moment, my roommates burst into laughter.

I chased them out, then looked another time in the mirror,

I said to myself: ' If Mom were to see my appearance now; she will commit a murder first then kill herself.'
