"Now you have your son to deal with, don't you? Mujer codiciosa." Tara said and left the table.
"You need to bring him back or else, all of us know that the CRUZ company will fail woefully." Dr. Mathew said and left, followed by Daniel and Henry.Maria was the only person who has not left. She became infuriated at Philip's audacity knowing that, without him, the company would not function very well. In her pride, she decided to assign someone else to take the position instead of apologizing to her son.Philip sat down on his couch and sighed. He was stressed out these past few days, at least he showed his mother today that he couldn't be controlled by her and if ever she decided to call him back, she would have to decide not to meddle in his affairs ever again. His mother was a proud woman, so he wasn't expecting any apologies from her whatsoever. After he had freshened up, he lay on his bed to sleep, and then, he got a call from Clara. He was in a very bad mood so he didn't pick up the call to avoid saying anything that would hurt her. The phone kept on ringing and he had no choice but to answer it."Clara." He said calmly."Hi, I just wanted to greet you...I'm sorry if I called...""Uh, no... it's fine. I just need some rest.""O...Kay...I am sorry for disturbing you. I will call tomorrow if that's fine with you." She said."Is there anything I can help with?""No... I'm good. Goodnight.""Alright."Philip hung up and sighed, he wasn't mean to her but she could detect that he was upset. He laid down back on the bed and drifted to sleep."What did he say?" Ella asked."He sounded upset, even though he tried to hide it.""So that means Dr. Mathew was right?""Yes, I think so.""So you are going to be working there without seeing Philip?" That's so cruel of his mother.""I have to find a way to see him.""Why not go to his studio? He might be there tomorrow evening since he isn't going to work.""Yeah, I think so," Clara said. The truth was that she couldn't work in the CRUZ company without seeing Philip for a day. It was strange, but she missed him. She wanted to see him every day until she had her fill with him."Ah, I am going crazy now. I don't know what I am feeling for him." Clara said."It's love. This is not your first time falling in love, so why are you so bothered about what you feel?""What I had with Allen and Patrick was different. This time, I feel that my feelings for Philip will consume me. It's hard for me to breathe normally when I'm close to him.""You should calm down, for now, Philip is not like other guys. He won't accept you easily, even if he is friendly. It will take more than your feelings to attract him.""That's the cruel part of it all.""The worst thing that could happen to you is when your love is not reciprocated."That was the truth and Clara knew that she had to accept it if she wanted to get closer to Philip.Clara resumed work the following Monday and as stated in her acceptance letter, she was assigned to the creative department. They dealt with designs and ideas of different ideas that could push the company's reputation forward. She was on orientation for about a week before she started work permanently. There was no sign of Philip anywhere in his office and it felt lonely to her. Secretary Carmen was seated at her desk, so Clara approached her with a smile."Hello," Clara said"Ah, Miss Clara. It's nice to see that you are looking good.""I am? Well, that's my style." Clara said making both of them laugh."I like you. You have such humor." Carmen complimented."Everybody tells me that, but I take it as my job to make people happy.""That makes you special.""So, what about Philip, what's going on with him?""Maestro felipe, is not going to be around for a few days...or weeks.""Why?""Señora Maria hasn't decided who the next CEO should be. She wants to take control of everything herself.""That's cruel.""Daniel said that Maestro Felipe was very upset when he dropped the keys to his office. It was like a joke, which turned out to be real.""I thought that she would convince him to take up the position again.""Señora Maria would never do that. She is a greedy woman who wants to take control of everything. I get tired whenever Maestro Felipe has to go for those meaningless meetings that she organizes to keep things in check.""She's more like a control freak.""Yes, that is the word.""So you're just here working all by yourself.""Actually, I am organizing my resignation letter. If Maestro Felipe doesn't come back, then I am not ready to work with another CEO.""Are you serious? Two people from my department resigned yesterday.""Well, there you go. If he doesn't come back, Senora Maria will find us substitutes and I guess they won't be as good as us.""So what am I to do? I'm new here.""You can...wait for all of us to resign and then resign later. Simple.""Well, I'm going to think about that...anyway, good day." Clara said."Good day to you too."As Clara walked to her desk, she thought about the things that Carmen had said. She didn't know that Philip's absence would affect the company's employees. It wasn't a surprise that Philip was the anchor supporting the company, Maria would be very disappointed to see that the company would not hold on without her son. ***********Philip sat down on his chair and took a pencil. His goal was to finish the sketch before the year ran out and if he didn't succeed in accomplishing that goal, he would consider himself a failure. He looked at the uncompleted sketch in front of him and began to add some features to the sketch. It began to make little sense to him unlike before, he knew it was a lady that he was sketching but he didn't know who the lady was especially when it was uncompleted."You look optimistic," Clara said.Philip turned to look at her and saw her standing at the door."Not always." He replied and focused on his sketching again."Well, it's because you are not always enthusiastic when you see it." She said approaching him. Her gown was made of a light material and only reached its limit, above her knees. Her skin was beautiful and smooth and her thighs slender. She didn't have such large hips but any man would want to hold on to them when they came in close contact with her.At first, when she came near Philip to look at his sketches, he was amazed at how beautiful she was both on the inside and the outside. She was the type of lady that any man could ever wish to have. Clara had this optimistic and inspiring atmosphere that anyone could change anyone's behavior. Because of that, he had a special liking for Clara. Although, he hadn't known her for long."Do you want to add some details?" He asked."Yes, I would love to." She replied.Philip wanted to stand up for her but she gently sat down in the space between his separated legs, on the same chair, then she took the pencil and began concentrating on the drawing.Philip glanced at her for a while and remained on the seat. As he focused on her additions to the sketch, he smiled. She was a good artist. At a certain point, when she got confused and when Philip saw that, he gently held the hand she was using to draw. Then he guided her with his hands and corrected the mistake she made.Clara could feel his chest close to her spine and his hands-on hers were soft. The fact that he allowed her to sit in between his legs only told her that Philip could perceive her attraction toward him."I came by taxi, so I'm ready when you're ready to go home." She said glancing at him and he nodded.Clara took his second hand gently and placed it on her thighs. She wanted his hands on her body because all her body ached for him so much. She didn't know where the obsession came from but it was increasing every day. She tried her best to hide her feelings and obsession so that it wouldn't get the better of her but it was impossible to do that.Maria assigned the new CEO for the CRUZ enterprise and the name of the person was Henry Cruz. When the employees heard it, they gasped in unbelieve and amazement. It was unbelievable for them to believe that Maria assigned Henry as the new CEO. He was five years younger than Philip and it was highly improper for that to occur.Dr. Mathew saw Henry going into the CEO's office and he turned to look at Clara who was standing beside him."That is not right." He said.Henry sat down in his new office with a satisfying smile. He knew he deserved to be the CEO of the CRUZ company. He had sounding qualifications and awards won because of his achieved excellence so he was undoubtedly qualified to take up this important position. He looked around the office and saw Philip's achievements in the real world of art and design. He loathed the thought of seeing Philip back in the office again because from now on, he was going to run the CRUZ enterprise how it was meant to be ruled. In the car, Clara turned to Dr. Mathew with sad eyes and asked him why Maria was so unfair. It was the legal right of Philip to take control of the company and she had given that legal right to Henry. "Philip is equally stubborn, he refused to take up the position again. He is as proud as his mother." Dr. Mathew said in a frustrated tone."I just wish there was a way to help Philip get his position back as the CEO.""That's going to be war, you do not want to disagree with Maria.
Everyone turned to look at Clara as she stood at the other side of the table. "You look like someone who lost her way." Henry said."You can't threaten to fire anyone, you can be sued and it leaves a bad image for you and the Cruz company." She said keeping some files on the table."You should leave now, or you would be the first person to sue me."Clara glared at Henry and apologized, "I'm sorry." She said and walked out of the office."Now, my decision is made. All of you can get lost." He said."You might regret this." Another man said before leaving. The others followed suit and left the office in disappointment.Henry sat down on his chair and thought of how Clara interrupted him during the meeting, "You will not like the results, the next time you try that again." He said to himself. "He wants to partner with Safari company." Dr. Mathew said to Philip as they ate together in a restaurant."Why are you telling me this?" Philip asked, without looking at Mathew."It's going way
When they finally arrived at her house, the both of them stepped out of the car. "Thanks for driving me back home," Clara said as they faced each other.Philip nodded with a smile and watched her come close to him, "You're welcome."Clara was obviously so obsessed with his lips that she didn't mind her lips clinging to his but she knew that now was not a good time. She simply kissed him on the right cheek and bowed her head before walking away. Meanwhile, Philip didn't get into his car until she entered her house and closed the door. Feelings were not important at that moment but he could feel Clara's vivid attraction toward him. As Philip drove home, he felt like there was something familiar about Clara but he couldn't place it. Her gait was familiar and so was her manner of talking. He feared that it had something to do with his past, so he decided to do a little search on her.Henry signed his partnership form with Mr. Nicholas, the CEO of the Safari company. It wasn't a surprise
Clara didn't know when her hands began to shake after hearing Maria say her name with such clarity and coldness. "Yes ma'am." She replied without looking at Maria."You were the one that danced with my son at my husband's birthday party, am I right?" Maria said as she sat down and crossed her legs while looking straight at Clara. For some reason, she didn't seem to like Clara and she made it clear by the tone of her words."Yes ma'am""I see...Dr. Mathew said you were from where again?""Uh...I don't know what you mean ma'am""Are you related to Dr. Mathew?""No...he is my father's friend.""And who is your father...your parents who are they?""They don't leave in this city ma'am.""Don't be a fool, I asked the question 'who' not 'where'. Tell me.""Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton.""Well...tell me about your parents.""I am sorry to say this, but my personal life doesn't have anything to do with my work here." Everyone held their breath when Clara uttered those words constructing them into a s
Valeria returned to Maria with the feedback that she had delivered the letter to Clara. She knew that Maria was a pain in people's lives especially when it concerned the company but what Valeria didn't approve of, was the fact that Maria was narrowing her attacks to a young lady who was recently employed in the organization. It seemed ruthless and child-like but who was she to tell her mistress that? Her job was to follow orders not criticize her boss. "She didn't seem so perturbed." "Of course, she won't be bothered, she will definitely submit the C.V today, I know that for sure." Maria said sitting down on her well-built, comfortable sofa. The scent coming from the sofa was pleasing but Valeria didn't understand why her boss chose to add a perfumed scent to the sofa. "So why did you ask for her C.V, when you knew that she would bring it?""It's just a little game testing. She seems smart but she's foolish, you can go now." Maria said waving at Valeria in a queen-like manner."Que
Philip opened the door for her as she stepped in and he followed, closing the door behind him. "Sara!" He called. She was a servant in his house who spoke and understood Spanish also."Yes, Maestro Filipe!" She said rushing downstairs towards her master."Please help me show Clara to the guest room, show her some clean clothes and also tell Fiona to prepare some food for her." He loved giving detailed instructions, enough and simple to obey."What about you, Master?" Sara asked, wondering who the guest was and why Philip cared so much as to bring her to his house. Of course, Sara had seen Clara before, but she didn't seem to be comfortable with bringing the stranger up to the guest room. "Don't worry about it, I will be fine. Just do as they tell you. I will be in my room if you need me." He said as he marched upstairs."Please follow me," Sara said politely and Clara followed her into the guest room which was after the sitting room. She opened the door for Clara and she walked in, l
Clara was called by Maria to the CEO's office and Clara walked as fast as her leg could take her. She couldn't tell if it was nervousness or guilt. The Secretary nodded for her to enter and she stepped into the office where Henry was on his seat and Maria was seated comfortably on a sofa with her legs crossed."Good morning ma'am," Clara said. Her voice was faltering, but she was able to control it.Maria eyed her and directed her gaze to Henry, then back to Clara. "You must be rather daft, for not greeting your CEO." Clara turned to Henry and bowed her head, "Good morning." She had no choice but to obey if not, Maria might suspect something."That's better. You look so much better today, than the day you insulted me." Maria smiled. "Isn't that true?" she asked, but Clara said nothing. "She presented her CV, what do you want from her?" Henry asked as he looked at his mother. He felt uneasy to see Clara in such a state. You're the chairman, Henry. Why don't you tell her what I need?"
Dana Hamilton, The woman in iron was her nickname when she was in Italy. She had previously lived in California with her family before moving to Italy and now, she was back. She and her husband sat down at the arrivals lounge waiting for Clara. She was a woman of high prestige and a mouth that spat out words like someone drawing a sharp sword from a sheath. She was also a woman of beauty, with her pronounced brown eyes, her orange lips, and dark hair. She was in her fifties but she looked so much younger than other women who were in their fifties. The fact that she had a husband made many men stay away from her.Her husband, Harriot Hamilton was a man in his late fifties, looking so much older than his original age. His illness had drawn a line on him, he was indeed a quiet man with a quiet nature compared to his wife who was a woman of words and action. "Why did you decide to bring us back here?" He said in a quiet and weak tone. He was frail but not frail enough to speak."We are h
"You never told me that he was an obsessed psychopath!" Ella exclaimed covering her mouth with her hand. After this time, it was hard to believe that Philip was planning Clara's downfall when they thought that he was a good guy."He is not a psychopath," Clara said. From the look of it, Ella considered Clara to be either crazy or blind."He's a dangerous person, Clara. You shouldn't even be working in that company.""He won't do anything to hurt me.""Why are you so blind?""He won't hurt me because he cared enough not to let me rot in jail.""Maybe that's part of another plan of his.""I don't care about that, Ella. I don't want him to think of me as someone foolish enough to give up and not endure," Clara said. "I want to continue working there until he decides to throw me out."Ella did not doubt Clara's pig-headedness. All she wanted was for Clara to be safe along with her parents."Have...have you tried apologizing for what you did to him that day?" Ella asked, looking into Clara
"I had to do it," Philip said looking at his brother. The shock on Henry's face was something that told Philip to take it easy with his words."You gave grandmother the name of their company to buy over?" Henry asked in a bewildered state."That was the first name I thought of, so I had to write it down. It's not like we are going to take over the company. We are just buying it." "Buying automatically means that you become the owner," Henry said. He turned to look at his mother who was listening to them. The three of them were the only ones in the hall, it wouldn't have been a good idea if someone else was there overhearing their arguments. "What are your plans against Clara and her family, Mom?" He asked sharply."So you think that because your brother decided to buy the company, then we have plans against her?" Maria asked. Sometimes, Philip thought so much about his mother's gift of being a hypocrite. She had the potential of being a good actress as well."I don't know what you gu
When Philip met with his mother, he hid the fact that he visited Clara so as to avoid her suspicious questions. She might begin to think that he was slowly backing out of the scheme. She sat down on the sofa opposite the one he was sitting on. There was a table between them, "¿Adónde fuiste hoy?" "I went out for a meeting with someone. It was very important." He replied, sharply."I tried calling you but your phone was switched off. I am sure that you must have charmed Carmen because she refused to give me your location." Philip smiled within him. Carmen was the only person that he could entrust a secret to and she would keep it away from everyone even from his mother. Even if that secret would cost her life, she knew better than to spill it. "She is my secretary, you didn't need to interrogate her about my whereabouts.""Tú eres mi Hijo. How could I not question her?""What did you want to see me for?""I called for a meeting today concerning the Safari company." She said. "It's t
Henry visited Clara after hearing that the officer who interrogated her was dead. He wanted to make sure she was alright because he didn't understand what was happening. Nobody did.He sat down with her and held her hands softly, "Are you alright?" He asked but he knew the answer to the question."I can handle the stress. I am going to be fine. No need to worry about me." She replied."Your father had an arrest...""What?""He is going to be fine," he said. She didn't need to know that her father was partially paralyzed."I wish I was with him.""Don't worry about him now. Worry about yourself." He squeezed her hands softly. "I would like to speak to your brother...will he agree to see me?" She asked, hopefully expecting a positive answer."Why do you want to speak to him? You know he won't help you, no matter what you say.""I don't care about that. All I want to do is to speak to him. I want to look him in the eye and know if he believes what Mr. Ayomide accused me of.""Are you su
Mr. Mathew was shaken to the bones when he heard of Clara's arrest. She had been accused of plagiarism before and he knew that she was innocent of that. He also knew that she was not guilty of what she was accused of.It wasn't clear who made such allegations about her but on getting to the police station, he saw the evidence right before his eyes. Dana was also there trying to plead for her daughter who was accused wrongly. The plagiarized paintings were the same as the real paintings presented by Mr. Ayomide who had ordered her arrest. Mr. Ayomide was so mad when he heard from Gabriel about Clara's crime of plagiarism but he wanted evidence. Gabriel transported it to him and the paintings were the same as his original paintings. It was so absurd and annoying.Mr. Mathew looked at the so-called plagiarized painting, they were all unique in their styles and it didn't take time for her to see that it was someone's handiwork. Those pieces of detailed work were done by someone skillful
Clara sat down in her office and sighed. She didn't care about her attitude toward Maria until Philip came in and he must have been disappointed with her behavior. Things were not going too well for her at that moment. Her best friend had left her, Philip was about to become an enemy even though he wasn't showing it and Maria was going to see her as a rude young bitch. She didn't know what Maria was going to tell Philip about her but she was sure that Maria would report her behavior. Her rude attitude. Clara bowed her head on the desk and closed her eyes in utter frustration. She couldn't take the stress anymore so she had to act that way toward Maria. The thought of Philip holding a grudge against her mother for an unknown reason, was more than enough for her to get agitated and stressed out. However, she calmed herself, with the thoughts of peace. Knowing that there was going to be no peace for her in the CRUZ company after her attitude to Maria. **********Philip
"My childhood," Philip said with his eyes, fixed on Clara. "Why would you want to know that?" He made sure not to use any tone that may make the others think he was annoyed with the question."Is it wrong if I know your childhood history?" She asked and Philip kept quiet before speaking up again. He lowered his face and picked up the fork, "My childhood...it isn't an experience to talk about." He could feel his mother's eyes on him."I want to know," Clara said."I...and my mother were chased out of a house because of a false accusation and wrong intention." He said. "Is that enough?""Who accused you?" She asked, not satisfied and a little sober. She feared that it might have been her mother or father who chased them out of the house. Her thoughts were running around her head. Thoughts that weren't supposed to come to her."Someone...it was a long time ago." He said with a painful sigh. "I don't want to talk about it." Clara looked at him for some time and resumed eating. She guess
Clara wasn't surprised when Ella left the house the next day. She tried all she could to stop her but Ella's mind was made up. It became a huge loss to Clara because she had lost her only best friend who was the only person she could confide in comfortably. All her useless lies and secrets had eventually ended their friendship.Clara sat down and covered her face with her hands, the pain of loss and failure made her cry. She had lost Philip and Ella, the most important people in her life all because of her selfish behavior. She wanted to fix everything but it was too much burden to bear. ~~~~~~~~~~~The news spread everywhere that Safari company was the source of the false accusation of the CRUZ company. It was on the news headlines and every artist talked about it. The CEO of the Safari company was blamed for his stupid action but he came out to defend himself and said that the CRUZ company was definitely doing illegal things. He made it look like the CEO of the CRUZ company
"Who is it?" Philip asked."It's not a single person, it's the Safari company. I traced the bad report that they released to the public. The information agencies didn't know who sent them that information about us. They called it an unknown source." Gabriel said, "So I got in contact with one of the information agents and made a deal with him, then he sent me the real report. When I tracked it, I found that the Safari company was behind everything.""Alright," Philip said. "Thanks, I appreciate your help.""My pleasure, make sure you deal with them like old times," Gabriel said. They both knew what Philip could do."I will," Philip said and hung up. Now he was very sure of his suspicion about Safari company. At least now, it was proven. He approached his mother and whispered something into her ears."Is everything alright?" Dana asked, noticing the awkward silence between Philip and Maria."Oh, yes. He just has some work to do at the office," Maria said."It's nice to meet you again,
