Chapter 10

Chloe’s POV

I held on tight to Lucas’s arm with a forced smile creased on my face, as we walked into the mansion headed for the dining area. Where the chattering, and clicking of knives echoed. And I could tell from all that I heard that they’d been waiting indeed.

The hallways were not as crowded but a few people were loitering around. Who avoided us, even to the extent of the servants running back down the stairs just when he’d seen.

Coming into the dining area, it was a long grand table with servants around. The table had normal-looking food. Just as we both walked in, the chattering from earlier ceased as they set eyes on us.

Lucas had me taken to one end of the table, where I realized Flynn crouched over his meal happily.
