CLEARING THE AIR

Elvis stared at his smartphone smiling and giggling softly. What a news! He thought. As he was about to dial a phone number, a call interrupted. How lucky, it was Charlotte’s call. Elvis was about to call Charlotte but he guessed he was a bit slower and patient. Picking the call, Charlotte spoke sharply

Good morning Elvis, did you see the news ? We’re you aware of all this? Did you call the press? She retorted without giving Elvis a chance. Elvis laughed and replied….

“Can you take a moment please. I wasn’t aware of any of this. I’m also surprised about the news meanwhile this is very unusual, they can’t go on spreading an unverified news without confirmation. Charlotte I’ll do everything in my power to take down the news and bring who ever is responsible for this to justice”

Charlotte, who felt a bit of ease and tranquility replied Elvis “ Thank you so much Elvis I’ll also pull some strings here too”

The Grays still confused and left in awe asked Charlotte why she screamed so loud at such hour of the day. Mr. Gray walked into the room furious and anxious to hear his daughters explanation about the news.

What’s this news about Charlotte? He yelled

Charlotte who was confused and trembling stood to her feet to explain her dilemma to the family.

Father, I drove to meet Elvis the top automobile engineer at a restaurant. I told him my plans for the company and what I needed him for. He agreed and signed a contract with me as we spoke over dinner. I was unaware about the presence of the press so was he. I’m going the make this right and clear the air.

“You better do ” her father said furiously as he walked out of the room . Every other person left the room one by one till her mother was the only one left in the room with her. Mrs. Gray Patted her daughter on the back as she tried to console her, but all proved abortive.

Charlotte who was uncomfortable left the room for work. She walked down the stairs towards Smith who greeted her softly. As she walked past Smith her spoke to her saying..

“Miss Charlotte, I feel the best way to get rid of the news isn’t taking it down but visiting the press”

Charlotte stopped and turned to Smith with interest and asked How!. Smith said

“I have a good friend that work at the largest communication firm in New York I can ask him to set up an interview about the so called relationship news . Then on the interview You’ll explain what really happened and make things right “

Charlotte smiled and thanked Smith for the advice. She walked into the car relieved and happy. Smith drove her off for work. As he drove, He caught several glimpse of Charlotte looking at him through the rear mirror. He chuckled and focused on driving. Charlotte at the back seat of the car replayed Smith’s words as she thought I’ve never been on an interview before neither have I spoken to large number of people before. She had mixed feelings about the interview and sighed.

Miss Charlotte walking out of the car into her Company noticed everyone staring at her. She didn’t greet anyhow like the did the day before Instead she walked hastily to her office ignoring every staff who greeted her. Charlotte once thought of the news and predicted how far it would have gotten. She reconsidered Smith’s advice but her fear struck again. How would she clear the air when she can’t speak boldly on air and in public. Charlotte called for Smith to tell him about her fear.

Smith who was already on his way to her office was given the information. He hurried to her office to ask what she needed. Charlotte offered Smith a seat and said

Smith, I don’t think I’ll be able to face the press boldly to clear the news. Smith looked at her with perplexity and asked “Why! “

“I can’t speak boldly on air besides I don’t know the questions I’ll be asked and I don’t want to make it a mess.” She complained.

“I know how troubling and difficult it might be but be yourself. All you have to do is speak freely. Just pictures it as a conversation just like we are doing now or like the conference meeting you had yesterday.” Smith advised.” I have already set up the interview it’s scheduled to 10 am this morning so get prepared” Smith announced

“Thank you so much Smith” Charlotte replied as she stood up with courage and enthusiasm.

Smith stood up and left. Charlotte watched Smith’s beauty through the glass wall as he walked majestically till he went out of sight. She smiled and giggled as she sat down to work .

“Good morning and welcome to the biz hub your favorite business show and refreshing time where we talk about latest and hottest gist in the business industry. I am McLaren Jude your presenter and I’m here with Miss Charlotte Gray; the current CEO of the largest auto mobile company in the whole of New York “ The presenter introduced

“Thanks for having me on the show today it’s a pleasure” Charlotte responded

“So Miss Gray how does it feel the be the only female automobile CEO in New York?” The presenter asked

“Being female doesn’t restrict me from doing my job properly. I must say, it’s quite tasking and it seems unusual but it feels great to do something different from what the society expects” Charlotte replied

“That’s great, being different is a nice choice is must say. You’ve been the CEO for just two days now and I seems to be like you’ve achieved what other companies would do in months. How were you able to achieve that?” Jude questioned

“Like I said earlier, being a CEO is tasking but the best you can do is to plan out what and how you want the business to be in days, months and years to come . Planning comes with focused so you must picture the destination from the start. All I did was put things in shape and order then renewed business contract terms as well as signing new ones” Charlotte explained

“What an amazing plan, Miss Charlotte how do you see the company in the next few months?” Jude asked

“Well in the next few months, I’m sure that the company would be the top in New York as well as the United States. I’ve secured a contract with the top automobile engineer in the country Mr. Ann Elvis and I’m certain with his partnership, we’ll soar high with quality products.” Charlotte said

“If I may ask ma’am; speaking of Mr. Elvis , What is your relationship with him?” Jude questioned.

Charlotte pupils dilated as she responded, “Elvis and I are just business partner and that’s all. The picture online was from our contract meeting over dinner. Who ever is responsible for that News should do well to take it down before I take legal actions.”
