Chapter 43: Another danger

The sound of hurried footsteps echoed down the stairs. Emma panicked, opened the door, and ran out, slamming it shut behind her. She sprinted through the hospital corridor, her face pale with fear. Many people turned to look at her and were curious about her frantic demeanor, but she didn't have time to pay attention to them. She continued to the hospital's backyard, all the while casting nervous glances over her shoulder.

Kate William and that man reached the ground floor only to find it deserted. Infuriated, she slapped him hard and hissed, "You fool. Do you realize your stupidity? If word gets out about what you've just said, I will have you killed, and don't expect another penny from me."

"I... I didn't know anyone was there," he stammered, backing away with visible fear.

His attention shifted to a silk handkerchief on the ground, "Mrs. Handerson, there's a handkerchief at your feet. Probably dropped by the person we just discussed."
