Everything Will Be Alright

(Gabion POV)

I left her phone on the table para para makapag-charge and took her a mug of coffee as she sat frozen in place. “A fire,” she said to herself. “My mother?” bulong niya na para bang nalulutang.

“But we didn’t hear anything from the news till now. Di man lang binalita,” dismayadong saad niya habang nakatingin sa telebisyon.

Did she want me to tell her it was all a mistake? That it probably hadn’t happened after all? Para kahit papaano maibsan ang sobra niyang pag-aalala. “I’m sorry. Do you want me to find more information about it? We can look online for more,” suhestyon ko.

“Oh no,” she cried, covering her face. "I can't.”

I put an arm around her, wanting to offer comfort, but how did you comfort someone who’d just lost her home, farm, almost everything in it at hindi pa alam ang kalagayan
