Riley’s POV
“Chris,” I breathed once I figured out his face. He flashed me a devilish smirk, and I felt my heart drop in my stomach from fear.
“Leave, Chris, or I’ll call the cops,” I threatened, glancing at the phone in my hand and his eyes followed mine, landing on the phone.
“You are happy you fucked things up this morning,” Chris growled at me, his toxic breath mixed with alcohol was fanning over my face.
I clenched my grasp around the phone.
“I’ll call the police,” I repeated, and he grabbed my wrist, taking the phone from my grasp and tossing it on the floor.
“No one will help you, sweetheart,” he snickered, and I looked at him with disgust.
“What the fuck do you want from me?” I shouted.
I freed my hand out of his firm grip, but he was faster than me as he grabbed me by my wrists, pinning my hands over my head.
“Did you even love me?” I yelled at him, feeling the tears form in my eyes as he looked at me with zero emotions, the person I thought I knew wasn't there anymore.
“No, all I wanted was to fuck you over, get the promotion, and maybe really fuck the innocent virgin girl,” he sneered, lowering his face close to mine.
There. I heard the truth I wanted, the hurtful truth.
A bang of pain lingered in my chest as he said those words. I looked away, refusing to cry in front of him.
He held my wrists with one hand and with the other grabbed my face, forcing me to look at him. “You don’t understand how many men wanted to fuck you, and I was ahead of them, but you were hard to get,” he snickered.
“Help-” I was silenced as he smashed his lips on mine in a forced kiss, bruising my lips and shoving his tongue down my throat.
I tried to push him, but it was no use. Where are you, Athena? I asked myself, wishing for her to help me.
I felt violated as his lips hovered over mine, then his free hand traveled to my shorts. That’s when I tried to fight more, but he was stronger than me.
His lips traveled to my neck as he slid his hand in my shorts, then worked his way to the hem of my underwear. “I’ll show you what fun is supposed to be,” he hissed against my skin.
“Please don’t rape me, I’m sorry for what happened in the morning,” I whimpered and his hand stopped moving any further.
He pulled away, and I closed my eyes, sighing with a bit of relief. He got his hand out of my shorts, raising his hand to my cheek. “Why are you crying? I thought you wanted this,” the slurred words escaped his lips.
“You’re drunk, Chris, and you’re hurting me,” I said back, but of course, he wasn’t in the right mind to think.
“I know you want this. You don’t want to be that innocent virgin girl,” he whispered, brushing his lips near my ear. “It’ll be fast.”
I brought my knee up, kicking him right in his crotch.
“You fucking whore,” he said in-between his groans as he grabbed his crotch with both of his hands, finally letting me go.
I ran to the stairs as fast as I could, shouting at the top of my lungs, “Athena!”
I wasn’t lucky, as he recovered quickly and grabbed me by my ankles. I lost my balance, and fell on the floor, hitting my head on the first stair.
I blacked out, slipping out of consciousness for a few seconds. But I could still feel my surroundings. I just didn’t have the energy to fight him anymore.
So, this is it.
Chris pulled me towards him, hovering over me with his firm body.
“Please, no,” I whispered weakly, feeling the warm liquid trickling down my forehead.
“I won’t call the police, just let me go,” I sobbed as his hands molested my body.
“You owe me a good fuck for humiliating me this morning,” he hollered, tearing my shirt as he left sloppy kisses on my exposed neck.
A loud cry escaped my lips, and he brought his hand to my mouth, muffling my screams for help.
He pulled away, his eyes locked with mine. “You’ll have fun. Stop whining about it,” he whispered, and I squirmed underneath him, trying to get away.
No, I would not give up this easily.
“It’ll be quick,” he repeated, and my eyes widened as I heard the zipper of his jeans.
The tears gushed out of my eyes like a faucet. Maybe I could talk some sense into him. He wasn’t always this bad person, even if he was pretending to be nice. I refuse to believe he was this evil.
He removed his hand from my mouth, reaching for my shorts again. My sobs became higher, but it didn’t make him stop. He will just leave when he gets what he wants.
“Jesus, you cry too much,” he hissed against my skin.
“Chris, you are drunk. You don’t know what you are doing,” I whispered, and he halted.
He still had a firm grasp on me, so I wouldn’t escape, or be able to kick him in his balls again.
“You hurt me, Riles,” he murmured, bringing his hand to my neck, and tightening his grip around my neck until I was choking. I placed my hand on his wrists, trying to loosen his grip so I could breathe.
“You took my promotion, got the best clients. I lost the bet because of you… you made me a foul in the office.”
“I can’t breathe,” I grunted, but he wasn’t hearing me.
He was filled with anger and rage, too blinded by them.
“You’ll confess the fraud you did, save the agency’s name, and Stephanie’s name. Do you understand?” he barked at me, applying more pressure on my neck.
I never thought Chris could be this… toxic, and I fell for him like a foul, thinking he was a nice guy.
He had lost his mind.
I gathered my power and kneed him again in his crotch. His grip around my neck loosened, and I gasped in the air, coughing loudly.
“Fuck you, I won’t get back to you just for your bitch’s fucking reputation!” I shouted at him, pushing his body off me.
I was quick on my feet but got dizzy at how fast I got up. I grabbed my throbbing head, and he took my weak moment, grabbing me from behind.
My back was against his chest as he pushed me against the wall. His mouth was close to my ear as he whispered in a threatening tone, “I’ll make your life a living hell, no one will take you in their agencies if I testimony on the fraud, then I’ll make your sister’s life a living hell,”
The lights turned on and in the corner of my eyes, there was Athena, standing in a towel and a big knife in her hand, pointing it at him. “Leave her, you fucking asshole!” She shouted, and I sighed with relief, feeling thankful that she came.
His gaze traveled to her, and he finally let go of me. “Call the police,” she said to me once he moved away from me, strolling towards her.
I grabbed my phone and dialed 911. “Ahh, little Athena, what a way to ruin the fun,” he said in a bitter tone.
“I knew you were a sociopath the moment I saw your face, freak,” she hollered at him. My hands were shaking as the phone kept ringing.
My gaze was focused on him, and I saw his hand stuffed in his jeans, pulling out slowly a black gun. “Athena, he has a gun,” I shouted to her as he swung it up, pointing it at her.
His finger was on the trigger as he smirked at her. “You didn’t think your life would end quickly,” he hissed before laughing like a maniac.
He pulled the trigger and everything around me went slow. I watched as the bullet flew towards Athena, sending her body to the floor.
A loud silence fell between us. The blood froze in my veins as I tried to comprehend what was happening in my head.
“Shit,” he said, not believing what he had just done.
“I didn’t mean to shoot her,” he said quickly, moving towards me.
“911, what’s your emergency?” A lady’s voice blasted through the phone’s speakers.
I was stunned in my place, staring at Chris, who was still approaching me with the gun in his grasp.
I was shaking, and the tears welled up in my eyes as I glanced at Athena, finding her getting up on her feet with the knife in her grasp.
“Ma’am, are you okay?”
“Give me that phone!” he shouted before letting out a piercing scream. Athena stabbed him in the shoulder and he dropped the gun to his side.
“You missed my head, asshole,” she snickered, then knocked him out with the back of the gun.
“Ma’am, are you still on the line?” the operator asked, and Athena rushed towards me, grabbing the phone from my grasp.
She continued the call and once she was done; she placed the phone on the island, smiling at me warmly. “Help is on the way,” she reassured me.
I grabbed my head and looked at my bloodied hand. “I… I think I’ll pass out,” I murmured before falling on the floor, welcoming the darkness.
Riley’s POV I woke up gasping for the air. Sweat beads hovered over my forehead from my recent nightmare. I ran my fingers through my hair, knowing it was over now. He was away now. “Is it the same nightmare?” My sister muttered with her eyes closed. I sighed and whispered a yes. She groaned, opening her eyes, looking at me with a reassuring smile. “It was three weeks ago, Riles. He’s away. You are fine now,” Lara comforted me, sitting up. She pulled me into her embrace, and I placed my head on her shoulder, feeling safe for a moment. “He’s coming out today. I’m scared,” I mumbled, and she rubbed my back. “He can’t come near you, and if he does, we will call the police,” she asserted, and I closed my eyes. Three weeks passed since that and it left a huge scar on me. Every day I had a nightmare of those horrible events and it even chased me in the morning. Lara was a lawyer. Among her busy life, she mana
Riley’s POV I jumped out of the bed, feeling overly excited for the day. My gaze snapped at the clock, making sure I had enough time to pack the things I bought yesterday. “Great, it’s six now, the plane is in four hours,” I murmured to myself. A knock on the door stripped me out of my thoughts. The door creaked open and Athena poked her head inside. “Just making sure you are awake,” she blurted, giving me a toothy grin. “You are off to work?” I asked, and she opened the door fully, leaning on the door frame. “My shift is in thirty minutes, and I also packed dad’s meds. Make sure he takes them, please,” she breathed, crossing her arms against her chest. “Wow, what a big duty,” I said sarcastically, and she rolled her eyes. A flash of a smile crept on her face. She opened her arms, and I smiled, throwing myself into her embrace. “I’ll miss you this week,” I mumbled. “Me too, also don’t let hot boys make
Riley’s POV “What do you mean by bunking with a stranger?” I snapped at the receptionist. I was refusing to believe the sharing thing. I wanted a vacation for myself. Was that so hard to ask for? I stared at her, waiting for her to tell me it was a prank, but she just kept blinking and repeated what she had been saying for the past ten minutes. “You two will share the room, as there are no vacant rooms.” “But I booked it first,” I argued back. “So did I,” a deep voice was added in the background, and I turned around, looking at the person who just spoke. A man in his mid-twenties, maybe my age. He approached me with slow steps, his amber eyes locked with mine as he fixed the mass of his dirty blonde curls, tousling them to the back. It would be a lie if I said that man was ugly because he looked like he came straight out of a modeling magazine. His mesmerizing eyes looked deep into my soul, erup
Zack’s POV “Um, Luke, you told me the nightclub was on the market,” I screeched on the phone, my gaze focused on the man who was glaring at me. I flashed him a tight smile, trying to reassure him. He just rolled his eyes and looked away, talking to his partner in his mother tongue language, Italian. I wish I had picked a thing or two in my Italian class back in high school. I could’ve understood what he was saying. “Give me a minute, Mr. Nicolai,” I excused myself, walking away from them. I stood near the cliff, gazing at the gorgeous blue sky. All I could hear from Luke’s side was him typing roughly on the keyboard. I licked my dry lips, waiting for him to check the data. “His temper is running out,” I tried to hurry him up, hearing him sigh before cursing. “I’m sure it was up for sale a few days ago,” Luke mumbled. “Figlio di puttana,” he said over my shoulder and I glanced at him before looking back
Riley’s POV “So, you are sharing your room with a sexy Greek god… This sounds exciting and you know what will be great Riles-“ “Don’t say it,” I said in a warning tone. “You are a buzz killer,” Athena trailed off with a pout on her lips. “And I didn’t say he’s sexy,” I retorted back, and she rolled her eyes. “I know my best friend and by the look on your face, I would say that you liked him,” she asserted with a proud smile. “Your fantasy is getting out of hand,” I remarked sarcastically, and she broke out into laughter. I glared at her through the camera and she stopped laughing, smiling cheekily at me. I set my phone back on the table and continued eating my dinner, which was a steak and mashed potatoes. “Come on, having a little fantasy is the perfect way to live on this planet.” I rolled my eyes as I stabbed the cut part of the steak, stuffing it in my mouth. Having dinner at the beach was p
Zack’s POV I’m supposed to write a book on how to make someone hate you in just a few minutes. I watched Riley storm away after she lashed out at me. What did I expect from her? Of course, she would snap at me. I crossed the lines, stepping into her personal life. I didn’t have to prove my point why she was here alone because it seemed she came here to forget what happened. All of this happened because I just wanted to have her attention, or spend some time with her. When her eyes met mine, I lost sense of the world. Everything around us was gone. The sound was all muted, and all I could see was her, only her. She struck me with one of her arrows, saving Cupid’s time and claiming me as her prey. Not that I mind. I was just simply drawn to a stranger who I only know her name. A part of me knew she felt what I felt when our gazes met, that little spark igniting in our chests, the carnival of butterflies.
Riley’s POV My legs carried me to god knows where, no I didn’t stay in my place. I needed to return to the resort and I couldn’t do that if I was staying still. My eyes widened when I noticed a light bursting out a few miles away. “That must be a nightclub,” I muttered. I could go there and ask for directions back to the resort. I thought, picking up my pace. After a few minutes, I reached the spot, and it was a nightclub, as I expected. A long line of people was waiting to get inside the nightclub while others were getting out drunk. If I had money with me, I would consider going in and having some fun. The nightclub was in a strategic spot, looking over a cliff. It comprised three floors and the last floor was a roof that probably had a swimming pool, as some people came out in their swimsuits. Athena would’ve loved that place, calling it a second home. I lifted my gaze off the building and looked at
Riley’s POV “You did what?!” Athena exclaimed, nearly shouting at me. “Goodness, Tina, she repeated herself like four times,” Lara said as she snatched the phone from Athena. “The important question here is. Did you use protection?” I deadpanned at my sister’s stupid question. She wasn’t planning on stopping annoying me. Both Lara and Athena were laughing at me. “What is it about you two and me getting laid?” I asked in disbelief. “Well, we aren’t the one who gave poor Zack a boner,” Athena said once she stopped laughing. I nibbled on my lips as I blushed at the morning events. I didn’t even think I could do this to someone. Two hours earlier. “Wake up, princess, it’s time we hit the beach.” Zack’s cheerful voice broke my peaceful sleep. He opened the curtains and the light quickly filled the room, making me groan. “Go away,” I grumbled, pulling the blanket over my head
Riley's POVIf someone told me a week ago I would take a plane to Ibiza and then stay with a sexy playboy in a fancy hotel suite, agreeing to a stupid deal that a total stranger came up with just to prove to him that my heart isn't able to love again—I would've thought it was a joke.I'm mad at myself for agreeing because damn me and my stupid heart—I'm catching feelings… no I'm falling in love with that total stranger while I wanted to prove him the opposite. And it wasn't because he got me the extra cheesy burger I love or the homemade churros—well, food is typically the fastest way to a woman's heart, add a nice picnic spot preferably somewhere surrounded by nature, and voila you got yourself an instant crush.Zack was very aware of what he was doing, he was playing his cards right to gain my attention.Well… he did get my full attention. This might be my very first date after Chris and I know I should forget about him which I'm trying to do but it's a slow ongoing process. But th
Zack's POVI traced my lips with my fingers with a goofiest grin on my face as I stared at the ceiling, replaying the intense make out in my brain for the hundredth time.It wasn't like I haven't kissed someone before, but Riley was… she's special, and I'm falling hard for her."Zack," her soft voice crooked out, and I was pulled out of my thoughts—returning back to the silent room."Yes, Riles," I answered her, feeling my chest tighten with concern—it was as if I could feel what she was feeling now. Fear."Nevermind." She sounded hesitant, and it wasn't the answer I was expecting. I sat up and looked at the opaque splitterCan you sleep with me?" Riley's POVI thought spending time with Zack would be a living hell, or awkward as hell but here I was having dinner with him, enjoying the sunset, and talking with him—scratch that we were playing the twenty-question game to know each other well. It wasn't my idea, of course, but it was better than the dead-ass silence. We drifted into an entirely different conversation after he made a serious confusion."Pineapples don't belong on pizza," I argued as I stuffed my mouth with the mouthwatering extra cheesy burger—Zack gave me a dead-serious look, and I lowered the burger, eyeing him with disgust as I chewed on my food.He was serious about the pineapples on pizza."You could always give it a try," he needled, stretching a slice of his untouched pizza, and I eyed it with terror as if he was offering me a dead rat.A deep chuckle roared from his ch

"So, how did you meet my brother? Friends with benefits, or are you a gold digger?" He blurted, and I blinked at him, shaking my head as if I didn't hear what he said."Excuse me?" I was about to take my hand out of his grasp, but he tightened his grasp around my hand, pulling me towards him.I swear I could smell the intoxicating smell of his expensive cologne. My stomach tightened once his gaze sharpened at me. "You must've mistaken me for someone else," I don't know how I told him that without a shaky tone.I tried to pull my hand away, but it was a bad idea—he only tightened his hand, his fingers were digging into my skin."Zack doesn't do relationships, and you don't look like one of his junkie bozos, so maybe a gold digger," he opened his mouth again, flickering his greenish eyes between mine."Did Tony pay you to lure him, princess?" He asked in a
Riley's POV"Is the blindfold necessary?" I questioned as I stumbled on a rock in the way—it wasn't like I saw it with this thing covering my eyes. Zack was supposed to be my eyes since he was holding my hand, and his other hand was on my waist—guiding me to this stupid picnic date.Apparently, he was as blind as me."I told you I'm sorry, stop being such a brat," he retorted, and I stopped in my place—snapping my head to where his face was supposed to be—instantly feeling his warm minty breath on my face."Did you just call me a brat?" I heard his light chuckle—feeling a little huff of air on my face as he chuckled. The heat traveled to my cheeks—I was embarrassing myself. "You literally stumble on everything," he remarked, and his words refreshed my mind, playing every scenario I stumbled on something and fell on him.It

Zack's POV"So, where are we going exactly?" Riley's voice broke over the soft music playing. I glanced at her, holding my breath as I absorbed in her beauty. The way the air flowed through her hair, touching her skin softly—her hazel eyes were focused on the trees as we passed them in a blur. That dress hugged her body at the right places, and yellow was definitely her color—it made her look happy. Not for a long time because every once she sneaks a quick glance at her phone, then her face changes to a worried, distressed one."It won't be a surprise if I told you, cupcake." She looked at me with a frown."Monkey feathers. My name isn't this hard, I can even help you spell it out," she quipped, and I gave her an impressed side glance before focusing on the road—a sinister smirk tugged on my lips as the dirty comment popped up in my mind.
Riley's POV"So, any excuses for being late?" I snapped my gaze at him, crossing my arms against my chest.Instead, he eyed me from head to toes before finally meeting my gaze with his breathtaking smile. "You look incredible, yellow is definitely your color," he faltered, sticking his hand out for me."Are you silencing me with a compliment?" I snorted, and that stupid boyish grin grew on his face.Remember how you fell on this date. The voice in the back of my head tried to remind me that I got myself into this.I just placed my hand into his warm grasp—and that electric feeling traveled down my spine, waking up the butterflies. Yeah… that's the feeling I despise the most.Yet he made me somehow like it."Let's just end this thing," I said with sass in my tone—thanking god that my voice didn't crack.
