[ Charlotte ]
“Sebestian, what kind of a joke it is?” I asked him. The truth was in front of my eyes but my naïve heart wasn’t ready to accept it.
His emotionless face twitched, he seemed pissed off by my question.
“He isn’t joking, Charlotte. We wanted to tell you sooner but we care about you and your feelings, that’s why we gave you some time.” The witch spoke in his behalf, her over-sweetness was sickening.
“I am talking to my husband, Miss Baxter. I think he must reply me.” I gave her the peace of my mind. She had been a manipulative bi*ch since she entered in our lives, always trying to come near my husband. It was her doing. My Sebestian only loves me.
“Seb, please tell me it’s lie. You’re being misled by someone. The truth isn’t what you think. I can explain.” I again pleaded him but he looked away.
“I am not mistaken, Charlotte. Do you really think I am a fool to believe someone without a concrete proof? My own eyes saw you with that bastard in a hotel yesterday. You have to accept it and leave me for everyone’s sake. So, sign these papers and leave before I have to use harsh measures.” He says without any hesitation, like he had been waiting to throw me out of his life and he finally got the reason.
A sharp pain surged through my chest. It was the most cruel betrayal. I couldn’t believe that he was the same man who once went against his own mother to marry me and loved me passionately.
Was this all a lie?
Our love, our marriage.
“I have to tell you something.” Although, I lost all my hopes in my dead marriage and his words left deep imprint on my heart, I still had to tell him about his baby. He deserved to know.
“I don’t want to hear anything, Charlotte. I thought after our baby’s demise, you were mourning our loss. I was also devastated but I gave you space but it was all a drama to spare time for your lover while I dealt with the pain alone. I needed you but you blocked me out and now I begin to think that you could had killed my child intentionally.” He said the most disgusting thing I expected to hear from him.
I finally lost my temper and a harsh slap flew across his left cheek, the sound resonated in the air. I slapped him for accusing me of the cruellest thing.
“How dare you?” I gritted my teeth.
“You!” He yelled on me but I showed him my palm. He crossed his limit in the fit of his anger and under someone’s manipulation and that someone was enjoying the funeral of our marriage standing in a corner.
“I heard enough of your shit, Sebestian Blackwood. I thought the fault was in me. I failed to be a good wife to you. I couldn’t give you a child and it made me feel horrible for two years. For two years I believed I was responsible for our turbulent marriage and accepted your mother’s perception of me as a child bride who can’t be good enough and a wife material for her son but you all made me believe a lie. You were incapable of being a good husband, Sebestian. I did everything in my power to win you back but your heart already ventured off to somewhere else.” I cried and wiped my tears vigorously. They were giving me hard glares.
His face turned cold upon hearing my words.
“I am not like you, Charlotte. At least, I am not pretending. You have been insecure of Victorine since we got married and I don’t owe you an explanation when you’re sailing in the same boat.” He said in a baritone.
“Charlotte, I am sorry if our friendship made you feel insecure but trust me we’re just good friends.” Victorine joined the drama with her pathetic acting.
“Please stay out of our business, Victorine. Both you and I know that you have your eyes on Sebestian and Mrs. Blackwood despises you for your true colours otherwise you’d be Mrs. Blackwood in my place.” I taunted her and her face turned red.
“My mother doesn’t like you either and Vic never tried to take advantage of our friendship but a person like you won’t understand the true definition of friendship because you believe in taking advantage of your friend.” He taunted me.
I closed my eyes to let his words broke the last thread of attachment between us.
“Where are the papers? I will sign them right away because you both make me sick in the every moment I spend here.” I said in a blank tone.
Sebestian stilled as if he didn’t expect me to agree upon divorcing him this easily.
“Charlotte, please think wisely. He is in anger but you’re smarter than this. You both can sort out your difference like two adults should. I swear your accusations didn’t hurt me.” She said innocently.
“Here are the papers, sign them and free us both from the burden of this unwanted marriage which was a blessing for me once, now it’s a curse.” He said and handed me the folder which was the final destination of our journey together.
I was glad that I didn’t tell him about our baby.
Because it’s my baby now, only mine.
He didn’t remember creating it on the night of our third anniversary. So, he had no rights to be part of its life.
I wiped my tears, took the pen from him and without thinking twice, I signed those papers.
“Here is your freedom, Mr. Sebestian Blackwood. It will be the last time you see me because from now on, my lawyer will be handling the legal procedure of our divorce. Have a happy life with your true love. You’re no longer bound to me.” I said my last words to him and took off my wedding ring.
“Keep it or throw it in the trash, it costed you a heavy price. I don’t want anything which will remind me of you because I hate a despicable man who trusts a whore more than his wife.” I spat while placing the ring on the desk.
He said nothing but kept staring at me with a blank expression whereas the bitch smirked seeing our separation.
I turned my face from the heartless man and stormed out of there to pack my bags and start a fresh life far away from him. I don’t wish to see him again in my life or I fear I’d fall weak and yearn to return to him.
[ Charlotte ]I had no idea where my feet were leading me. I left him but I still had a silly hope, maybe he’d realise his mistake and chase me but my hopes died down with passing hours. I roamed aimlessly on the busy streets until the dusk appeared in the sky, enveloping everything in the early darkness. I had no place to call mine in this big city. I had no friends of mine except Liam but I couldn’t go to him or it’d only concrete Sebestian’s doubts on our friendship. My stomach grumbled. I hadn’t eaten anything since morning and this little life growing inside me needed nutrition. I shuffled my handbag and found only a little amount of money. My pride reborn in a very bad time. I refused to take anything from him when he generously offered me anything I desired for. I could had at least taken some money to survive for a few days.My phone vibrated in my handbag and my heart leaped thinking it could be Sebestian but when I saw the caller id, my face fell. It was Liam. I wanted to ta
[ Sebestian ]I stared at the papers which my wife signed a while ago and felt a strange sensation twisting my heart. I clenched my fists. The woman who once stole my heart, made me fall in love with her on the very first sight, the woman with whom I exchanged holy vows.Charlotte Richards, she agreed to free me from our marriage. She was desperate to leave me so she could be with Liam, her true love and I had been a fool who neve loved me.I felt my heart constricting in my chest. She left a deep void in my heart. My blood boiled when my eyes landed on the pictures that my most trusted PI sent me. They looked mad in love, lost in each other and their chemistry was mocking at me."Bastian, how long will you keep punishing yourself?" Victorine's voice broke the eerie silence of the air."I want to be alone for some time, Vic.I hope you understand." I said quitely. She sighed and placed her hand on my shoulder,"You have to accept, Bastian. She made her decision. I am not trying to turn
[ Charlotte ]The excruciating pain surged through my lower region, I yelped as it became unbearable with passing seconds. The wait of nine months was about to be fruited. I went into labour at the wake of the night and now it had been ten hours, the doctors were waiting for a natural birth but I didn’t think I could do it. I was all alone in the ward.I missed Sebestian, who didn’t try to contact me again. In a corner if my heart, I had a faint hope that he’d somehow find about his baby but with passing time, I gave up the idea of ever seeing my child’s father again.“Ahh..I can’t do it.” I cried as another contraction hit me.“We can’t wait anymore, if we don’t perform C-section now, we fear the baby wouldn’t survive.” The doctors looked at me with pity. They knew about my divorce and also that I had no one except my old grandfather. My blood ran cold upon hearing their words. It was my worst fear since the beginning of my pregnancy. The doctor warned me that it’d be full of complic
[ Sebestian ]Days changed into weeks and weeks into months and months into years but I didn’t hear from Charlotte like she had disappeared from the face of earth. The manor felt like a lifeless place, every corner reminded me of her but I couldn’t stay with my parents either. They weren’t tolerable for more than spending time on dining table.“Bastian, I am calling your name for last five minutes but you’re lost in some other world. What’s the matter with you?” Victorine’s voice reached into my ears, forcing me to divert my attention on her. She looked really pissed off by my lack of response.“I am sorry, Vic. I am just tired. Can you repeat whatever you were saying?” I rubbed my face and tried to focus on the deal we had to discuss. She scoffed and slid a folder in my direction, “I think it’s better if you see it yourself, Bastian.” She said with distaste. Her sour mood reflected how angry she was.I gave her a plain look and opened the folder which definitely contained some bad n
[ Sebestian ] “What is it?” I asked my secretory, James as he placed a silver invitation card on my desk. The young man adjusted his glasses and opened his mouth to speak, he clearly looked intimidated by my presence, “Miss Baxter ordered me to deliver this to you, Sir.” He replied. “How many times do I have to tell you that don’t bring unnecessary stuffs on my desk. Now leave.” I yelled on him. He didn’t waste another second and scurried out of my office. I again looked down at the beautiful card which had the name of the host; Alessandro and Aitana De Niro. I couldn’t miss this party even though I hated being alone during public appearance since I got divorced. Alessandro was a good friend and my presence was mandatory. I opened the card to read it, they were celebrating their 10th anniversary. They threw a charity gala to donate for the orphan children across the globe and it was tonight. “Fuck! Victorine never tells me about these events beforehand.” I muttered and pressed the
[ Charlotte ] I stared at my reflection in the mirror. The woman was looking back at me was no longer the girl who was a puppet in the hands of men but the brain behind a billion dollars empire unchallenged in the IT sector and now we were about to step in the construction business. We got our maiden project by the government and by defeating Blackwood Corp. Charlotte Montgomery, that’s what people would call me after tonight. Grandpa’s dream would come true in next few hours. Tonight, I’d reveal my identity to the world and tell them that it had not been Jonathan but I, who took the Skylark Group on the zenith. “Mommy, see, how am I looking?” Son’s cute voice reached into my years and it forced me to turn to him. A wide smile stretched on my lips by looking at my young man who wore a black suit and a shirt matching my champagne red dress. My heart again clenched. He looked exact like his father as he grew up, a constant reminder of the man whom I desperately want to forget. “You
[ Sebestian ]“Why the hell are we even here? This party is nothing but an extravagant pomp and show of wealth. We won’t gain anything except to devour the expensive wine. You are going to pay for this prank, Victorine.” I whispered to Victorine in annoyance. I was running thin on my patience. The party was as boring as the others I attended. I knew most of the guests and talking business with them or answering them on the unexpected defeat by the hands of their host had worn me out mentally. Why people judge one by his one failure despite a thousand success before? The answer I knew.“Have some patience, Bastian. The CEO is coming in our way only. Let’s confront him. He can’t walk away with what’s ours.” She whispered back.Jonathan Carter, who was greeting his guests, turned towards our table. The smile on his face irked me.“It’s my pleasure to host the two most important brains behind the most successful construction company in the country.” He said to both I and Victorine or I sh
[ Charlotte ]The endless cue of receiving greetings from my guests, mostly wrapped in surprise and envy, my eyes searched for the Blackwoods, who were yet to meet me. I knew them. After spending three years with them, I knew one thing about them, they’d not let this success crown on my head.My wait seemed to fruit as Mrs. Blackwood sauntered in my direction with a flute of champagne in her hand. She still managed to ageless even in her late fifties except a few fine lines near her eyes.“Congratulations on the way, Ms. Montgomery. I am shocked to see you after a very very long time.” She smiled at me, her thin lips curved upward. I couldn’t comprehend whether it was a compliment or a pun.“Mrs. Blackwood, it’s very nice to see you after a very long time. Green is your colour.” I complimented her matching her eyes, she wanted to see the same scary girl in me who couldn’t speak properly in her presence. Her brows twitched, she indeed looked amused and somewhat displeased.“May I know
