LUNA’S POV
I walk into the diner and I’m not surprised at all to see Asher setting the table for breakfast. Most at times he prepares my breakfast whenever I sleep over. Asher is an excellent cook.
He has on a pair of well ironed black trousers and a white shirt which has been properly tucked into the trousers. The sleeves of his shirt have been neatly rolled up to his elbow exposing the very expensive Rolex wrist watch on his left hand. His jet black hair has been well combed and today, jelled backwards and I take some time to examine his perfect facial features. He has got a well a chiseled jawline and high cheek bones. His brown eyes are deep and charming and his pink full lips aren’t making things any better. They are dangerously succulent.
Asher is such a fine man and I am very proud of the fact that he is in love with me.
“You do know that staring is rude right?” He asks not even sparing me a glance. I shamefully tear m
As speculated, Ace swallows his enormous pride(I’m sorry Ace) and comes over to Asher’s house. We are both seated in the living room and he has been staring at me for close to fifteen minutes now without uttering a word.I wonder what is running on his mind. Judging from his facial expression, it cannot be something nice. He looks pissed off.“I thought you said you were going to move in with Kyle”“Ace I already answered that question.”“I want to hear you say it again”“Change of plans. Alora suggested something better”“Who is Alora?” He asks with a creased brow.“My all time best friend. She is Asher’s little sister and we all live here together”“Let me get this straight. You live here with Asher and his younger sister who happens to be your best friend”“Exactly, so you have nothing to be worried about. I&rsq
I am beyond shocked to wake up and find myself lying on my bed. I don’t remember coming in here myself, I fell asleep while cuddled up in Ace’s arms. He can’t be the one who brought me in here because he doesn’t know my bedroom. This house is quite large, he would never have figured it out.I’m loosing my mind right now. I need to find answers. I pick up my cell phone from the night stand and step down from my bed. I walk out of the bedroom ignoring the fact that I might be looking like a scarecrow because I just woke up from sleep. I walk through the corroder which has got bedrooms side by side and it leads my to the living room on the second floor there I find Alora watching TV with a bowl of popcorn in her hand.I'm glad she's here, I won't have to be all alone anymore.“Please don't tell me I sleep walked to my bedroom” I say as I lazily slump on the couch by her side and take a handful of popcorn from the bowl
ACE’S POV“No she didn’t!” Alaric laments and I exhale heavily. I just told him about the conversation I had with Luna earlier today.“Yes she did and I understand where she is coming from bro. She doesn’t want to get hurt”“So what are you going to do?”“The wedding is in five months, that’s enough time for me to figure out what to do”“Why do I feel like you have plans of calling off that wedding” He asks looking at me queerly.I smile.“The universe has its way of making things fall in place. Let’s just wait and see”“This is not going to end well”“Oh, it will and you will be impressed” I say with a naughty smirk. The saying “uneasy is the head that carries the crown” is indeed the truth. My head is spinning like a roller coaster, this dilemma I currently find
LUNA’S POVSo, as if showing up at Asher's house unannounced wasn’t enough, Kyle just decided to ruin my evening by telling me that someone else took my place at the company. He’s all about how he doesn’t want me stressing up myself and I don’t know how many times I have to tell him that I’m pregnant not dying. This over protective attitude of his is pissing me off.“Kyle please try to reconsider, I can’t just stay at home doing nothing for nine whole months, I will die of boredom” I plead.“You will be fine Luna, stop all this exaggeration”“Kyle” I call pouting like a five year old but the look he has on makes me understand that there is no going back on this decision of his.Ugh!I hate him sometimes.Suddenly, I hear footsteps approaching the living room and I heave out a heavy sigh of relief when I see Asher walk into the living room, I rush over to him
“Jesus, it’s been three hours already Luna, open up!” Alora commands from outside and I just stay still on my bed as I stare blankly at the door.“You’ve not had dinner and I’m worried sick, worried sick I tell you. The CEO’S wrath is the last thing I want to incur right now”“Allow me”The moment I hear Asher’s voice, my heart starts beating abnormally again. That man would’ve kissed me if Alora had not stormed in and I would have let him do it because he is the man I choose. My heart beats for Ace, I love him immensely but my mind knows better than to think that we can ever have a future together. He is going to marry someone else, that’s why I want to try as much as possible to deviate these feelings I have for him to Asher.I know that’s what’s best for me.“Luna” He calls with his usual calm tone. “I am not trying to scare you, bu
Blink.Blink again. My eyes are greeted with perfect male facial features. Asher sleeps like a God.My eyes trail down his perfectly closed eyes down his well chiseled jawline and then his lips. Those lips he almost had on mine if Alora had not interrupted us. I am currently entwined in his arms and I have never felt so protected in my life.If this is what it feels like to be in his arms all the time, then I’m willing to give us a chance.“Good morning sunshine” He greets with his eyes still closed.“How do you know I’m awake?”“I can feel your gaze on me sweetheart” He says opening his starling brown eyes. I bring up my hand and place my palm on his cheek and gently caress it. “If you keep doing that I might be tempted to kiss you” He whispers in a hoarse voice and I swallow dryly.I might just get that kiss I have been waiting for.“Then do it” I
ASHER’S POVI park in the driveway at the Heritage Empire premises and walk into the lobby totally aware of the commotion my presence is causing. I’m not any ordinary Attorney in my country, I’m actually the best and I take after my father who’s now an Attorney General. Politicians detests me because I don’t compromise when it comes to exposing their evil deeds. I had my first major case when I was twenty four, I had just started working in in my father’s law-firm and he entrusted me with a political case. The former Minister of Finance had a bad attitude of embezzling state funds and investing in other countries. He was sued by my very own father and he entrusted me with the case.I can still remember how worked up I was throughout that case, but with the help of some IT experts and legal duty colleagues, I aced it. I provided all the evidence against him and now his greedy ass is somewhere in the Central prison paying for his sins.
ACE’S POVAs I drive over to Asher’s house to pick Luna up, the only thing on my mind are his words. He has challenged me to make Luna mine within six months and it’s barely four months to my wedding with Sophia. I know Asher all too well, he doesn’t give his word in vain, if I don’t have Luna and he does, it is the end for me. It will cost him nothing to file a restraining order against me the way he did with Seven. Not even the baby will be able to make us close again. Now it’s certain that I have to make a choice between Luna and Sophia and it has to be quick. Nothing in my life has ever put me in this kind of tough situation.Am I going to break the promise I made to Sophia to be with Luna? Or am I going to loose the woman my heart truly beats for and the mother of my child to be with Sophia, the woman I promised to marry, my childhood friend.Who could have thought that a man as powerful and famous as I am would be caught
CHAPTER SIXTY- NINEACE’S POV. THREE MONTHS LATER.Sophia didn’t survive the surgery, but she brought forth the most beautiful baby girl I have ever seen in my entire life and we are all doing a great looking after her.Luna moved in with me, so the baby spends most of the time with us since Luna is her mother. Once in a while, she spends the night with Asher and Alora. So far, everything is moving smoothly, even though we all wish that Sophia was alive to complete the circle.Sophia wasn’t bad at all, the only thing that made her the way she was, was her obsession with me. When she was pregnant and lived at Asher’s house, I saw a total different person in Sophia and I was impressed.Asher brought the good girl in her and I wish she was here with us.Anyway, we love her, but God l
CHAPTER SIXTY- EIGHTASHER’S POV“Breakfast is ready” Alora announces as I walk into the diner.“Good morning Princess”“Good morning”“Where is Luna?”“In the kitchen” I go over to the kitchen where are fine Luna washing dishes in the sink and when she turns and sees me, she acts like she hasn’t and concentrates on her plate.“Good morning Luna” I greet calmly as I approach her.“Good morning” she greets back not even sparing me a glance.“Alora must have told you what happened yesterday”“Yes, she did”“Luna, all of this was sudden, I don’t even know how it got to this level, Sophie and I…&
CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN“What the actual hell is doing on here?” Alora asks astonished the moment I walk into in the living room with Sophia cuddled up in my arms.Seven soon left the hospital for an urgent business deal and there was no one else with her and I couldn’t just leave her there. My house was the best option at that moment.“Not now Alora”“I don’t want her here!” Alora screams furiously and I look at her in awe. The feud between them runs deeper than I thought“Look, there was no one at the hospital to look after her or better still take her home, I couldn’t just leave her there”“Yes you could?, I won’t care if she rots there!”“Alora she is carrying your niece or nephew, you need to be a bit considerate towards her rig
CHAPTER SIXTY-SIXACE’S POVVarieties of beautiful flowers are blooming in the entire hall, expensive decorations that have got everyone gushing.Everything looks posh and I’m impressed. Our mothers did a great job organizing this wedding. It’s indeed the talk of the town. The flock of journalists aligned outside with their myriad of cameras makes it look more of a red carpet show than a wedding.I scan the mighty hall that is actually filled with people and everyone is so quiet and elegantly dressed. I spot a few of my uncles and cousins who keep making funny faces at me every time our eyes meet. I’m going to get properly laughed at , after this ceremony.I always bragged to them about being the last person who is going to get married among them, but here I am, about to get married the first.RIP Ace.
CHAPTER SIXTY-FIVELUNA’S POVWords cannot begin to describe the way I feel about myself right now.I’m nothing but a looser.Just within the twinkle of an eye, I lost my baby and the love of my life and in a few days time, he’s going to get married to someone else. This is worse than nemesis. No matter how much I try, it doesn’t seem to me like I will ever be able to get over them. The thought of loosing Ace to Sophia stabs my heart every time I think of it.How I wish things could be different.I lost the son, it’s so unfair that I have to lose the father too. I wish I could just snap my finger and everything turns out the way I want them to be.I just want to be with Ace.A knock on the door snaps me out of my thoughts and I go to open it.
CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR“Oh boy!” Alora exclaims.“Thank you very much Mr. Clarkson”“You’re welcome”I quickly hang up and hand the phone over to Alora. I don’t know why but I’m suddenly very hot. I quickly take off my tux jacket and toss it aside. This can’t be. This totally can’t be.I had a one night stand with Sophia?“She is officially a whore to me now” Alora condemns.“Do you think she knows it was me?”“I don’t know Ash, I really don’t know”“If Ace finds out about this, nothing will stop him from calling of that wedding”“Yeah, even the fact that she’s pregnant…” she suddenly stops and gasps loudly.&ld
CHAPTER SIXTY-THREEASHER’S POVI park my car in the garage and alight from it. I walk to the front door and ring the bell. Just Alora and I live here now. Luna’s parents insisted on taking her home after the miscarriage and there was nothing I could do.I miss her.I miss her dearly. Her sweet melodious voice that always caused blood to sing in my veins anytime she spoke, her charming smile that lightens my entire day. She’s my perfect queen.I’m going to spend the night in her bedroom, that’s what I’ve been doing these past weeks.I miss cuddling her, kissing her forehead and preparing her breakfast every morning before going go to work.I miss her so much that it hurts. The front door is opened by Alora and the moment she sees me, her face lights up. I wonder why.
CHAPTER SIXTY TWOACE’S POVI can’t feel anything, I can’t hear anything, I can’t see anything. Everything seems blurry, the voices around me sound like I’m in a distant world away from every one else. This all feels like thirty different kinds of wrong. This is worst than a nightmare, it’s a nemesis. My unborn child is dead and his mother is there fighting for her life.Like damn! I can’t loose both of them. If the baby is gone, God should at least save Luna for me. I’d go crazy if anything should happen to her. That girl has got my heart. All of it and I love her from here to the moon and back.Right now every one is impatiently waiting for the doctor. The news of the accident spread like wild fire. Her mother has been wailing ever since she got he
CHAPTER SIXTY-ONEKYLE’S POVI finally get Alora to sleep after several minutes of her wailing and cursing. I clearly understand her pain. Alora and Luna are more than just best friends, more of twin sisters who have got a special connection. They met in junior high school and since then, they have been inseparable.I don’t just see her as my sister’s best friend, she is my baby sister too and I love her to bits. I’m so happy that she’s alright, I don’t know what I would have done if both of them had to be in that same critical condition. Now that she’s here, I feel like everything is going to be alright.“Sweet dreams sweetheart” I say as I plant a gentle kiss on her forehead and exit the ward. I walk to the outpatient ward where I find Ace sitting helplessly on the floor. He’s not crying, he just has on a very blank expression and I can&rs
