Finally free

I observed that Alex had stationed only one guard at the dungeon and I could easily defeat him if it came down to a physical struggle. The day was almost gone and I realized that the guard would be in the dungeon at any minute. I weighed my options, to get out of the dungeon using the key, or wait for the guard to come meet me,but what if he noticed the missing keys before then.

Swiftly, I stood up from the chair and dusted off my haggard clothes as they were filled with dust and tiptoed all the way to the entrance of the dungeon. I looked around to know if anyone was watching, but there was no one in sight. I slowly inserted the key into the lock and twisted it open silently to avoid making any noise. My breathing was heavy as I knew that if any mistake occurred and I was caught, there would be serious consequences.

Once the lock had been opened, I moved out of the dungeon quietly and saw the guard standing miles away from the dungeon. I was glad he hadn’t heard a no
