Chapter 48: Stop Avoiding Me

The marble wall felt cold against Vivienne's back, the chill seeping through her thin shirt. She took a deep breath, looking at the person in front of her. He was standing close, his eyes fixed on her without blinking, his nose almost touching hers. His breath lingered on her face. Their silhouettes were imprinted in each other's pupils.

"Vivi, stop avoiding me!" Asher murmured in a hoarse voice.

"I'm not avoiding you," she replied, even though her hands pressed against his chest, unable to push him away.

"If you're not avoiding me, then why did you run away every time you saw me? Why didn't you answer my calls, and why haven't you been working at the club these past few days?" His series of questions left her speechless.

His eyes bore into her, mesmerizing and clear. She dared not meet his gaze, afraid he would see her panic and guilt. Everything he said was true. She had been avoiding him.
