Chapter Four

Mirabelle's POV

"K_ken," I trembled, feeling petrified as Ken began to crush my wrist with his fingers after stopping my actions midway.

"What are you doing? It's hurting! Stop it!" I begged him but his strength on my small wrist grew stronger by the second, and then he threw me effortlessly to the ground.

I fell hard on the tiles, whimpering sounds escaped my lips as I felt a pricking pain on my elbow.

I turned my elbow and saw some blood seeping out of my skin along with stains on the clean tiled ground, a result of the hard fall as my elbow bled some more.

Whipping my head in Ken's direction, I saw him wrap his arm around Mitchelle's waist and pull her, closing the gap between them.

Mitchelle faked sobbing sounds as she rested her face on his chest like she was hurt even though I was not successful in hitting her.

Ken's brown orbs turned to me, and I could see the fury burning in them as he raised his finger at me.

"You, Mirabelle Estella Davies, have no right whatsoever to hit my woman even if she happens to be your younger sister. She's my wife now, so you should respect this fact," Ken said authoritatively, not a single shame or anything close to that in his eyes.

"If you dare think of hurting her once more; then what I just did now would be nothing when compared to what I will do to you if you defile my words." I couldn’t help but shudder at his cold tone.

"How? Why did you get married to her, Ken? Mitchelle Is my sister. You can't be having an affair with my sister..."

"Did I forget to mention that you don't own anything here?" Ken blew another bomb as a dark smile curled up his lips and Mitchelle sneered at me with a little chuckle.

Hearing Ken's words, I paused, my brows furrowed at him.

He thrust a white document before my face; my eyes constricted as I read through the bold text at the top—it is the list of properties and companies that was put in my name before my parent's death.

The properties are now in Ken's name, who happens to be my ex-husband now, meaning I have no rights over my father's business or the properties.

But how and when did I ...

“You signed them. You transferred every property you owned and inherited from your late parents into my name, Ken Sylvester." Ken revealed and my eyes zeroed at him.

Ken, still staring into my broken and shattered orbs, suddenly commanded sternly, "Throw her out and shut the gates."

I was astonished and speechless, struggling to grapple with the reality of his words and everything going on so quickly.

A bodyguard, who I hadn't seen in my home before, walked up to me.

Sure that he was about to follow Ken's orders, I swiftly dashed to the side, making him stumble forward.

My tear-filled gaze returned to Ken as I walked up to him. It's hard to just accept all that's going on and act like it did not affect me.

I can't keep up with this act of his. He must be joking with me. Perhaps, testing my love for him, right? Everything that's happening must be a plan, I'm sure of it.

"Please stop the pretense, you are hurting me. You know that I love you so what's the need of all these?" I asked him, but he said nothing, only gestured to someone else.

Then I saw another guard march up to him, making it two of them present in the sitting room.

"Throw her out. Rough handle her if you must but I don't want to see this thing anywhere around here in the next five minutes," Ken said to the two guards present.

"What?"

The guards grabbed my arm and on both sides as they began to pull me out.

"No, Ken. You can't throw me out, I did nothing. Please stop this. I know it's an act to test me. I know you can't hurt me like this, Ken," I cried out loud as I struggled to break free but couldn't.

Ken ignored me as tears streamed down my cheeks.

The guard clutched my fragile arms so hard, dragging me out of the mansion as I threw my legs in the air, aiming to break free, but it didn't work.

My eyes never missed the satisfactory look on Mitchelle's face as I was being dragged out.

"Mitchelle, Ken, please I beg of you!"

I feel my chest tighten in anguish, not understanding why Mitchelle refused to help and was instead smiling at my situation.

I was hoping that Ken would give me a glimpse. A sign that he was compelled to hurt me.

Instead, I watched through the open grand doors before me as Ken swiftly lifted Mitchelle in his arms, going up the stairs while they got entangled in a heated kiss like there was no one watching.

It dawned on me that I'd been the fool all along and that everything was true but I still found it hard to accept.

"What?! No! Stop them. They can't do this to me. He can't throw me out of his life like this. Plead with him on my behalf. Talk some sense into them! Tell them to stop!"

They turned deaf ears to my plea as I was finally kicked out of my home, and the gate slammed shut in my face before I could run back in.

I slumped to the granite ground in tears, sniffing.

Feeling drained, tired, hurt, and betrayed by the one person I love. Including my step-sister, whom I thought was family, I now realized why Mitchelle refused to help me.

It was because she was having an affair with my husband and was now married to him.

Thirty minutes passed when a car started honking at me all of a sudden.

Moving my dead eyes to the side, I saw a luxurious-looking Lamborghini stopped before me.

The door to the car opened, and a man rushed to me and bowed immediately. "Good day, Ma'am. Please, my boss would like to have a word with you if you don't mind."

I remained silent for a few seconds, staring blankly at him as I tried to figure out why his boss would ask to talk to me. Do I know him from somewhere?

"Why?.."

"It's something important relating to you, but it's best if you follow me into the car," He requested.

Taking notice of the intense pleading look on his face, I glanced at the tinted windows of the luxurious Lambo in contemplation before I heaved a deep sigh.

"Okay…”
