Mirabelle's POV:

“Ken.” I whispered, my voice weak.

He turned me around to face him, his hands resting on my hips. His eyes searched mine, and slowly, he leaned in, his lips inching closer to mine.

Fear shot through me. At the last second, I shoved him aside, grabbing my bag and keys. “I’m sorry.” I blurted out, my voice shaky. “I can’t do this.”

Before he could respond, I bolted out of the house, running to my car. My hands trembled as I fumbled with the keys, finally getting inside and slamming the door shut. I drove away as fast as I could, my mind racing.

“How could you let him touch you?” I scolded myself aloud, gripping the steering wheel tightly. “The same man who ruined you! You should be clearing your name, putting Noah behind bars, not… not hooking up with Ken.”

But no matter how much I yelled at myself, his words and his touch lingered in my mind.

As I pulled into the driveway, a wave of relief washed over me. The reporters were gone. The house looked quiet, just the way I

Even in the dim light, his eyes carried the same warmth that had always comforted me, though they now looked undeniably weary.“I couldn’t sleep.” He said simply, with his hands resting over his cane.“You couldn’t sleep, so you decided to sit here in the dark and scare the life out of me?” I asked, trying to sound annoyed, though the relief that it was just him, and not my mind playing tricks, was already flooding through me.He let out a soft chuckle, the kind that felt like a soothing balm over my tired nerves. “I wasn’t trying to scare you, dear. I was thinking.”“Thinking?” I echoed, crossing the room and lowering myself into the chair opposite him. “About what?”He exhaled deeply, leaning back into his seat as if the weight of his thoughts was heavier than the air between us

Mirabelle's POV.I felt bubbles rumbling in my tummy as I excitedly walked down the long hallway of a famous hotel suite in New York, I stopped midway after noticing the countless doors along the way. A remembrance flashed across my head so I hurriedly took out my phone. I squinted my eyes at the screen, struggling to read through the text my husband, Ken Sylvester, had sent to me earlier this evening In my intoxicated state. {I am sorry for how I treated you earlier today, Mira. And I would love to make it up to you. I will be waiting for you in Lorenzo’s five-star hotel in suite 901.} Said the text. Earlier today, I went to the bar for the first time in many months just to drown myself in alcohol, aiming to take away the pain within me. Want to know why I went there? Well, my husband had threatened to file for a divorce, with the false accusation of me seeing another man outside our marriage, and he vowed that he would divorce me if I dared cheat on him again. I tried to mak

Mirabelle's POV **** I woke up some minutes ago with a banging headache, and all I could remember was leaving the bar after getting a text from Ken, who asked me to come over to Lorenzo's Hotel, but what I simply didn't understand was why the room was empty with no sign of him. Plus when I woke up, I saw myself naked under the sheets with a weird stinging feeling between my legs.It made me wonder if something happened between us last night while I was drunk. I pressed my palm against my forehead to reduce the aching pain then I headed in the direction of the dressing room in search of Ken."Ken, where are you?" I called out, but there was no sign of him there. "Ken?" I repeated, also checking the bathroom for him, but he wasn't there as well, which made me anxious. "Why isn't he anywhere in the room? He could've just woke me up or waited for me to be awake before leaving," I huffed while complaining, and my gaze darted to my purse on the dressing table.I walked up to it, took

Mirabelle's POV "If you are as innocent as you claim to be, and you didn't cheat on me, then what is this video about?" Ken asked and shoved the phone screen to my face, but my gaze dropped to my feet, knowing I had no evidence to prove that what happened last night wasn't done on purpose. “I can’t overlook the fact that you have hickeys all over your neck and only God knows elsewhere, Mirabelle. You’re a walking testament against yourself and our marriage so just pick up those damned papers and sign them this minute!” I fought back my tears as they tried to spill over. How could I have let such an act happen to me? Sniff, sniff, wiping my tears away as more and more of them trickled down my cheeks. "Don’t make me force you to sign those papers, Mirabelle Estella Davies!" Ken called my name in full, gnashing his teeth in irritation as he balled his fist. I immediately grabbed his hands as I shook my head. "I can’t sign it, Ken. This was never my fault. I don't know how it

Mirabelle's POV "K_ken," I trembled, feeling petrified as Ken began to crush my wrist with his fingers after stopping my actions midway. "What are you doing? It's hurting! Stop it!" I begged him but his strength on my small wrist grew stronger by the second, and then he threw me effortlessly to the ground. I fell hard on the tiles, whimpering sounds escaped my lips as I felt a pricking pain on my elbow. I turned my elbow and saw some blood seeping out of my skin along with stains on the clean tiled ground, a result of the hard fall as my elbow bled some more.Whipping my head in Ken's direction, I saw him wrap his arm around Mitchelle's waist and pull her, closing the gap between them. Mitchelle faked sobbing sounds as she rested her face on his chest like she was hurt even though I was not successful in hitting her.Ken's brown orbs turned to me, and I could see the fury burning in them as he raised his finger at me."You, Mirabelle Estella Davies, have no right whatsoever to

Noah's POV. Mirabelle quietly got into the backseat of my car after my driver had passed my orders down to her.She remained silent with a blank expression and lifeless eyes. A sharp pain shot through my chest, aware that the Mira seated next to me was nothing like the cheerful Mira I had known. She didn't even bother to know who called her and this is all because of that dickhead she called a husband! I was annoyed, very furious at that but I tried to be calm, steadying my emotions like I had always done, before speaking up. "You seem lost in thoughts... Don't you want to know why I called you here?" Her body stiffened, her brows creased into deep lines before she whipped her head towards my direction, and her jaw instantly dropped open. I chuckled at her cute reaction, knowing fully well that she was stunned to see a striking replica of Ken sitting next to her. The only difference that can be marked out between me and that asshole is that he has a pair of brown orbs then ever

Mirabelle's POV. Five Years Later. "Mummy, where is Daddy? I can't seem to see him anywhere."The little girl next to me complained while pouting her lips. Her green orbs scanned the crowded airport for her daddy. She's my second child out of the triplets and also daddy's girl amongst them. Sometimes, I couldn't help but wonder why girls are so close to their dads. Maybe because Dad makes them feel secure...? "Be patient, Mika. Besides, we are not outside yet. Once we make it out, then I'm sure we will find Daddy," Mika's eldest brother, Skyler, reassured. Skyler was the most mature amongst them and didn't give me a headache the way the 'Daddy's girl' did."Yayy! We are going to find Dad!" My third baby, my meatball Tyler, repeated Skyler's words over and over again, jumping around excitingly. "Daddy!!!" They all beamed out immediately. They set eyes on their handsome Dad standing beside his luxurious Mercedes as he patiently waited for us at the parking lot. My triplets ran i

Mirabelle's POV:I felt flushed, caught off guard by how much care Ken was showing me. It wasn’t like him to be so thoughtful, not the Ken I remembered, at least. Clearing my throat, I decided to break the silence. “Why did Michelle leave?” I asked, trying to steer the conversation to safer grounds. He glanced at me, pausing as he cracked an egg into the sizzling pan. “She didn’t leave...” He said casually. “I kicked her out.”The answer stunned me. My brows furrowed as I set the coffee mug he’d poured me down on the counter. “You… kicked her out?”He nodded without looking up from his cooking. “Yeah.”“Why?” I pressed, unsure if I even wanted to know.He finally turned to face me, leaning against the counter, his arms crossed. “I guess I finally understood that if I wanted to start something new with you, I needed to let go of the past. And that past was Michelle.”The room seemed to freeze around me, his words settled deep in my chest. I didn’t know why, but I felt a flicker of happ

Mirabelle's POV:I was about to speak when one of the board members interrupted me. “Mrs. Sylvester.” He said, his voice icy. “It would be wise for you to step down as chairman. Sell off your shares, leave the country, and save us all further embarrassment.”His words hung in the air like a death sentence. “And if I don’t?” I asked, my voice calm despite the storm raging inside me.“Then we’ll have no choice but to pursue legal action against you.” He said, his lips curling into a smirk. “You’d spend the rest of your life behind bars, and frankly, we’d prefer that outcome.”A nod of agreement passed through the room. I looked around at the faces of people I had once trusted—now filled with anger and hatred. “You’re all jumping to conclusions without giving me a chance to defend myself.” I remarked. “I have done nothing illegal. This is a coordinated attack to discredit me.”“Is that so?” Mrs. Patel snapped. “And what about the news reports? Are those fabricated too? Your reputation is

Mirabelle's POV:The board’s spokesman, a middle-aged man named Mr. Jenson, cleared his throat. “Mrs. Sylvester, we’ve received evidence that you’ve been involved in illegal activities—both abroad and here. It’s alleged that you’ve been acquiring shares and companies through illegal means.”“That’s absurd!” I exclaimed.“There's evidence, Mrs Sylvester. Enough evidence to back up the rumors.” Mr. Jenson countered. Sighing, I asked. “What evidence could you possibly have?”A woman at the table tossed an envelope toward me. “See for yourself.”I opened it, my stomach twisting as I pulled out photographs and documents of call recordings. The documents showed threats of violence, coercion, even blackmail involving a child.“This is ridiculous!’ I exclaimed sharply.“These are all fabricated, these are all lies meant to discredit me. Who is responsible for this madness?” I said, slamming the papers on the table. “Someone is framing me.”“Mrs. Sylvester.” Mr. Jenson began. “Several members

Mirabelle's POV: I stared at the documents, letters and photographs sprawled out on the table before me, my fingers trembling as I flipped through each page again. The weight of betrayal sat heavily on my chest. Noah had done this—plotted, schemed, and orchestrated my downfall. But why? To what end? My head throbbed with a mixture of anger and despair. Confronting him now would only tip him off, and I couldn't risk that. If I am going to win this fight, I need to be smarter. I can't just react emotionally. No, this is my chance to play by his rules and beat him at his own game. This is my fight! I glanced down at the papers again. Samuel's involvement in Noah’s schemes was undeniable, but was he truly repentant? Or was this just another tactic in their game? I picked up my phone and dialed Officer Carter’s number. He answered on the second ring. “Mrs. Sylvester.” His voice was clipped. “What can I do for you?” “I need to meet with you.” I said, keeping my tone calm despite the

The raw materials, the money... it all faded to the background as I listened to the ragged sound of his breathing.“Where are you?” I asked softly, my voice surprisingly calm despite the chaos in my chest.“Home.” He managed, his voice cracking. “I don’t... I don’t know what to do, Mira. It’s all gone.”“Stay there.” I said firmly. “I’m on my way.”I hung up and floored the gas.I parked outside Ken’s apartment, my fingers gripped tightly around the steering wheel as my mind raced. I took a deep breath before stepping out of the car, locking it behind me. Climbing the stairs up to his floor felt like it lasted forever. By the time I reached his door, I felt sick to my core, my hands shaking.I knocked twice before opening the door, stepping inside without waiting for a response. The apartment was quiet—too quiet. It didn’t make sense, but there was no denying what was in front of me.Carter leaned back. “This changes things.” He said, as he massaged his temples. “If what you’re saying is true, Mrs. Sylvester, then we'll have to bring him in for questioning.”My hands were clammy. “Yes.” I managed to say, my voice barely holding together. “You have to.
