Sylvia has regained her confidence back but the words of the man that Sylvia had met and had saved her continued to ring in her ears, as she made her way back home after she ran out of his house. When he asked her to marry him out of the blue. ‘Is marriage a joke to him?’ She wondered as she walked out of the mall. Sylvia hailed a taxi so she could go home. She sat down and turned her head, she looked out of the window. She noticed that the car was not going towards her direction she frowned. “This is not my house address” Sylvia said thinking maybe the driver made a mistake but the car started speeding. Sylvia suddenly turned her attention to the driver she noticed that his face was not showing properly. Her heart started beating fast because she knew that he was definitely not a taxi driver. “Who are you? What do you want?” She asked in a low and steady tone, she tried to hide her nervousness. The driver did not reply. The car suddenly stopped as the driver stepped on the brake suddenly. This made Sylvia jolted from where she was. The car door was opened. “Get down from the car” A man said. Sylvia turned her head and looked at the driver, he has fallen in coma and his head was bleeding by now. “Get out!”” The man yelled again, Sylvia immediately got down from the car. The man directed to another car and she got into the car. He closed the door, Sylvia noticed that someone was sitting beside her. She raised her head and looked beside her. She could not see the man’s face clearly because the car was dark. The moment the man pressed on the car brakes to speed up and the car started, he turned her head and looked out of the window. Sylvia started thinking on what to do immediately. It seems she has been kidnapped. Her stepmother and step sister will probably not care about her safety, neither father will. "Have you thought about my proposal?," A deep voice suddenly said beside her. Sylvia jumped from her seat in fright because she was not expecting it. "Oh you are a scared cat ?" Sylvia saw a man looking at her with a smile, he looked so handsome and familiar but she doesn't remember where she knew the man. The backseat was dark so she could not see his face clearly but she felt that he was very familiar, especially his eyes. "Why are you trying to scare me then?" Sylvia retorted. The man let out a chuckle, he raised his hand and pinched her cheek, "You are so cute, trying to search for excuses" He said with a smile, his smile made Sylvia dazed, her breathing became irregular. She snorted and turned her head, she continued looking out of the window. “Who is he?” Sylvia thought as she eyed the man suspiciously. 'Is he a human trafficker?' But he looked so handsome that it would be impossible to believe that he was a human trafficker. "You have forgotten about me so soon?" The man raised an eyebrow. Sylvia furrowed her brows. Why is he asking like they knew each other before?' "I don't know you," Sylvia replied. "Really?" "Yes!" Sylvia answered with certainty. The man chuckled, "What do you think about my proposal this morning? You ran away before you gave me an answer" The man teased. Sylvia pointed her hand at him and asked with shock "I-it is you!" "Mm" The man replied. Sylvia turned her head and looked at the driver "Let me get down" Sylvia said to the driver. The driver looked at Marcus for his opinion but he didn't say anything meaning that he should ignore her. The driver flashed her a helpless smile. "I want to get off," Sylvia gritted her teeth and looked at him. "Are you not curious about who is trying to kill you?? Are you ready to die and satisfy them?, "the man said, ignoring her words. Sylvia eyed the man, she knew that there was no free gift in the world, he surely wanted something in return. "Why do you want to help me?" Sylvia asked. "I am a businessman. I would surely not do a business that is a loss, in return you just have to marry me.." The man said Sylvia was about to open her mouth and reject him, "You don't have to reject me so fast. You are powerless and will surely not be able to do anything so the best thing you can do is to agree to my proposal" He said immediately like he already knew that she would reject him. Sylvia knitted her brows and thought about it, she felt that his words made sense. "But are you powerful?" She asked. The man chuckled, "Of course!” He said. "Are you sure?" She asked even though she knew how big and beautiful his house was, she was not sure he was so powerful enough to go against her father or Nicole’s The man smiled helplessly; he knew that she wouldn't believe him that easily. He dipped his hand into his pocket and brought out a card, he gave it to her. Sylvia accepted the card and glanced at him before she looked at the card. She was shocked. 'He was Marcus , The most powerful tycoon in LA' She raised her head and looked at him trying to conceal the surprise in her eyes, "But there are so many girls outside better than me, why do you choose me?" She asked. "Because we both have motives," He said. She took a deep breath, "Okay let's do this," she said. "Are you sure?" The man asked in surprise he thought he would have to convince for some time before she would agree. She bit her lower lips "Yes I am sure as you said before, I am powerless and can't fight them alone" She said. "Okay we can go and register our marriage now " He said. "Wait!" Sylvia said in a tiny voice. Marcus looked at her, "What is wrong? You have given up?" He asked. "No, I mean will we do what couples do?" Sylvia asked, she was too embarrassed to say the word out. Marcus feigned ignorance, "What do couples do?" He asked. "Like… you know… s.. e..x" She stammered, her face now flushed red in embarrassment. "No we won't, it is just a contract marriage" He answered seriously. Sylvia heaved a sigh of relief. "Anything else?" Marcus asked. Sylvia shook her head. Marcus told the driver, "Drive straight to the marriage bureau" He said. "Roger that," the driver answered. Sylvia sat on the bed centered in the middle of the deluxe suite that she had lodged in, and in her trembling hands were the marriage papers that she had just signed almost an hour ago. 'What if she had used an even bigger mistake to cover the one that she made? What if? How did she agree to marry someone after she had just had a failed marriage. It was when she was about to sign the contract that she saw the name of the man that she was to marry. The car stopped in front of a huge Mansion, it looked heavenly. She gasped when she looked around. Her house was nothing compared to this, he really married rich. Now she felt that she was the one who was advantageous.Because… damn…"Let's go in," Stephan said, breaking her thought.Sylvia nodded and followed him behind. The housekeeper was waiting in the living room with two pairs of slippers, one for him and one for her.Sylvia changed into the slippers and smiled at The housekeeper gratefully."The housekeeper will show you the room you will be staying in," Stephan said and walked away without waiting for her reply."Follow me, Miss," The housekeeper said politely.Sylvia nodded and followed her immediately behind her. The house is so huge that she felt that she could get lost easily. She never noticed all of these when she woke up and met Drake, besides she was not in the mood to admire them after getting betrayed."This is your room, Miss" The housekeeper 's voice broke her t
Diamond Club.A figure was seated among a group of men. A man walked towards them with a glass of wine."Mr Damon, it is nice to meet you. I have been wanting to meet you" The man said with a flattering smile as he stretched his hand which was holding the glass towards Stephan.Stephan looked at him coldly without saying anything, the silence was cold and awkward. The business partners sitting around him could not help but hold their breath as they waited for Stephan's reply."I am busy, you should meet my assistant if you want to cooperate with your proposal " he spat coldlyThe man nodded humbly and repeatedly, "Yes! Yes! I understand "Stephan took a sip of his alcohol indifferently like he was not the one being feared."So Mr Stephan, what do you think about my proposal?" The man sitting down beside him asked, only he knew how much courage he summoned up to ask him."Let's talk tomorrow," he replied."Yes!" The man grinned happily, "I have arranged the best lady for you tonight to
The next morning, Sylvia walked out of the room. As Sylvia entered the living room, warmth and light enveloped her. The air was alive with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and baked goods. At the table, Delinda expertly served breakfast, the clinking of silverware and gentle hum of conversation creating a cozy atmosphere. But Sylvia's gaze froze, stunned by the unexpected scene before her.Sylvia's cheeks flushed as she watched Delinda expertly serve the meal, her mind racing with the realization that she had never been asked to cook since her arrival. So seeing Stephan mom cooking now.It made her feel like she does not know her duty as his wife. And it might make it look very suspicious.Sylvia lingered on the staircase, lost in thought.Delinda's gaze drifted upward, her eyes widening in surprise as she took in Sylvia's contemplative expression.“Sylvia” Delinda called with a smile on her face.Sylvia snapped out of her thoughts and looked at her. “Good morning Aunty” Sylvia s
“Let’s go shopping, the tv show is so boring is it not?” Delinda asked her.Sylvia nodded, she was already feeling like she will sleep anytime with the way the show was.“Yes it is a bit boring I guess” Sylvia said to her.“Okay let’s go” Delinda stood up from the couch.Sylvia stood up too, “can I change my clothes then?” She asked her.“Sure, I want to change mine too,” Delinda said with a smile as she walked away.Sylvia walked upstairs hurriedly, she walked into the room and opened the closet, she looked at the clothes she had.She wondered which one she can choose and wear. She finally saw a gown that seems not too old.Sylvia immediately changed into it and looked at the mirror. It is really good, she packed her hair in ponytail style and brushed it.Sylvia used some lipgloss and walked out of the room, it was at the same time Delinda walked out too. Delinda examined her and nodded her head, “She really knows how to put herself together” she muttered.Sylvia looked at Delinda, t
They got home in the afternoon. “Are you not hungry yet?” Delinda asked her.Sylvia was feeling hungry so she nodded her head, “I’m hungry” she answered with a pout.Delinda pinched her chin softly, “You are so cute” She said with a smile on her face.Sylvia was stunned and she looked at her surprised, Delinda looked at her and blinked her eyes “You don’t like it?” She asked her.Sylvia smiled. “No it is fine, I’m just surprised that is all” she said to her.Delinda nodded her head. Delinda walked to the kitchen, Sylvia stood up and followed her immediately so she could help her. But Delinda did not allow her to touch anything. So Sylvia just stood there and watched her doing everything, she was also learning.Delinda microwave the food and she served the table, they ate lunch and rested for a while.Soon it was evening, The living room was pushed opened and Stephan walked into the house.Delinda smiled when she saw Stephan, “You are back, that is good” She said.“Mom, are you still
Sylvia immediately walked out of the room, she walked to the living room and saw Delinda in the dining room setting the table. Delinda raised her head and looked at her.“You are here, what about your husband?” She asked her with a smile on her face.“He is coming” Sylvia immediately said and she moved to help Delinda in setting the dining table.Delinda smiled when she saw this, she could see her face was red all over, it was obvious that she was been teased by Stephan. They set the table and sat down next to each other. While waiting for Stephan to come downstairs so they can start eating.Stephan walked down.He sat down opposite them, facing Sylvia.Sylvia put all her attention on the food, as she did not want to look at Stephan knowing fully well that he might tease her.And she did not want Delinda to see her flustered.Stephan smiled secretly when he saw this, he put some fish in her plates. This made Sylvia raised her head and looked at him, stunned. But he acted like he did n
Delinda kept putting food in Sylvia's bowl and soon the food in her bowl had piled up . Sylvia did not refuse her kindness and eat the food without complaint.Delinda felt more satisfied the more she looked at Sylvia, the more satisfied she was. The fact that she was not a picky eater also made her likable. She looked at her with satisfaction in her eyes. Sylvia's skin prickled as Delinda's eyes locked onto hers, the warmth in their depths making her shiver.Sylvia's cheeks flushed a deep pink, her eyes dropping to the floor as she fumbled with her words. "Uhm… is there anything wrong?" She asked."No!" Delinda said she cleared her throat softly when she realized how agitated sounded. She was searching for her neck to see if she would see even one love bite but she was disappointed when she didn't see any. After breakfast, Sylvia stood up to leave the house. She was already running left for work. Delinda held her back."Are you in a hurry?" She asked."Yes, I am going to work," Sylvi
Cynthia walked in."Someone is looking for you outside, Sylvia" She said loudly.Sylvia knitted her brows when she heard this. She walked out of the kitchen. She was shocked to see Nicole standing outside with Tendy. She walked towards them expressionlessly."What is it?" She demanded.Tendy eyes were full of resentment, but she quickly concealed it so Sylvia would not see them but she did not know that Sylvia saw it clearlyTendy pulled Sylvia's hand "Sister, let's go home""I don't want to," She answered."Sister, don't do this. Nicole is really in love with you. He could not eat well or sleep well after you ran away from the wedding. You should understand that he is really sincere about you" Tendy said, she was saying all this forcefully,.Tendy's gut twisted with resentment as she gazed at Sylvia. The memory of Nicole's threat still lingered, a bitter taste in her mouth. She clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms, as she forced herself to take another step forward."
Sylvia Luke nodded thoughtfully, absorbing Lily’s words. It felt like a moment of clarity had settled over her, one that brought a sense of understanding she had been searching for. “Okay, I understand now,” she said, finishing the last drop of her drink. It was refreshing, like a cool breeze on a sweltering day, and she felt a little lighter. Lily, however, had different plans. She poured a generous measure of alcohol into her glass and downed it in one swift motion. The burn felt familiar, a reminder that sometimes the easiest way to dull the ache of longing was to simply forget. She forced a smile, one tinged with bitterness, knowing Sylvia Luke couldn’t see the true emotion behind it. Deep down, she longed for someone like Stephan Damon—someone who would love her unconditionally. “You are a lucky girl,” she muttered under her breath, her voice barely audible over the hum of the bar. It was a statement directed not at Sylvia but at her own unfulfilled desires. “Did you say
Lily Doo nodded, her expression shifting from playful to concerned. “Yes, I am. What about you?” she asked, studying Sylvia closely. Sylvia Luke shrugged, pouring a drink into the empty glass on the table. “I am okay,” she replied, attempting to mask the turmoil beneath her surface. Lily smiled knowingly. “You don’t look like you are alright,” she said, her tone laced with familiarity. “Is it written all over my face?” Sylvia countered, trying to keep her voice light, but the weight of her emotions was hard to hide. “If you want to deceive everyone, you can’t deceive me,” Lily said, her voice firm yet gentle. “I can tell when you’re not really okay. What’s wrong? Are we still best friends? You’ve started keeping things away from me.” Her expression turned sad, and Sylvia felt a pang of guilt. Sylvia sighed, feeling the walls close in on her. “It’s Stephan Damon!” she blurted out. “And I’m sure you’re keeping things from him too. What are you hiding from me?” Lily chuckled, a hin
Sylvia Luke closed her room door with a soft thud and sank onto the bed, her mind racing. Just then, her phone rang, slicing through her thoughts. Startled, she fished it out of her bag and glanced at the screen. It was Lily, her closest friend. She answered the call, placing the phone to her ear. “Hello?” she said, trying to keep her voice steady. “What’s up?” Lily’s voice came through, bright and cheerful. “I’m good. What about you?” Sylvia replied, attempting to mirror her friend’s upbeat tone. “Okay. Are you around?” Lily asked, a hint of excitement in her voice. “Yes, I am,” Sylvia confirmed, feeling a spark of enthusiasm flicker within her. “Let’s meet at Shell Bar then,” Lily suggested. “Okay, I’ll meet you there in a jiffy,” Sylvia said, glad for the distraction. “Sure, waiting for you,” Lily chirped before hanging up. Sylvia placed her phone down and took a deep breath. She needed this—some time with her friend to clear her head. She got up from the bed and walked o
Stephan Damon’s expression darkened at the mention of her name. “She’s with the police. Why do you ask?” His tone was guarded; he didn’t want to believe that Sylvia Luke might feel sympathy for the woman who had wronged her. Sylvia Luke shrugged, her heart heavy with conflicting emotions. “I just want to see her, to understand. I feel like she might have been deceived or something,” she said, her voice quieter now. The idea of confronting the woman was daunting, yet she felt a strange pull to learn more, to empathize with someone who seemed to be acting out of pain. Stephan Damon regarded her thoughtfully, his gaze searching her face. He could see the turmoil within her, the struggle between her desire for justice and her instinct to show compassion. “You don’t have to carry her burden too,” he finally said, his voice low but firm. “Focus on your healing first.” Stephan Damon nodded, the weight of the situation hanging between them. “She will tell the police all that. Did you re
Minutes turned into hours, and Stephan Damon remained by her side, his resolve hardening. He would do everything in his power to ensure that she felt safe and loved. The darkness that had encroached on their lives would be pushed away, and he would fight for their future together, no matter what it took. He leaned closer, brushing a strand of hair from her forehead. “Please, come back to me,” he murmured, his voice laced with emotion. “I need you.” Stephan Damon walked out of the ward, needing a moment to collect himself and avoid disturbing Sylvia Luke’s fragile peace. He stepped into the dimly lit corridor and pulled out his phone, his fingers trembling slightly as he dialed a number. “Hello?” came a cautious voice on the other end. “Boss, the woman is still adamant that Madam seduced her husband. She claims she received some images on her phone,” the bodyguard reported, his voice shaky. Stephan Damon clenched his fist tightly, his knuckles turning white. Anger surged th
Stephan Damon dropped to his knees beside Sylvia Luke, his heart aching at the sight of her. She lay still, her chest barely rising and falling, and for a moment He walked closer to her and carried her in his arms not caring about how dirty and haggard she looked. The smell of urine assaulted his nose, but he didn't care about that, he was a clean freak but he didn't even bother about getting dirty. “Sylvia?” he whispered, his voice barely above a breath. Sylvia Luke heard the familiar tone, like a lifeline pulling her back from the abyss. She struggled to open her heavy eyelids, each flutter feeling like a monumental effort. Finally, she managed to focus on the face that meant everything to her. “Hubby, you’re finally here,” she said in a low, raspy tone, forcing a smile that felt more like a grimace. The effort it took to appear cheerful only deepened the ache in Stephan Damon’s heart. His chest tightened painfully as he took in her disheveled appearance. She looked so fra
Just when she thought it couldn’t get worse, the phone in her pocket began to ring, cutting through the chaos like a beacon. The woman, still holding her down, felt the vibrations and yanked the phone out. She glanced at the screen, her expression shifting to one of disdain as she read the name: “Baby.” “You’re really shameless. Is it one of the men you seduced calling you? Let’s see who else you’ve seduced after my husband,” the woman sneered, holding the phone like a trophy, her expression a mix of triumph and derision. Sylvia Luke’s mind felt blank, a swirling fog taking over as she processed everything. The ringing felt distant, and she could barely comprehend the woman’s words. The humiliation, the anger, the pain—it all melded into a haze. Her consciousness flickered in and out, making it hard to focus on anything but the overwhelming embarrassment. “Answer it! Let’s see who you really are!” the woman demanded, pressing the phone to Sylvia Luke’s ear. Through the haze, S
“Hello?” a man’s voice cut into the conversation. Sylvia Luke’s brow knitted in confusion. “Who are you?” she asked, sensing the shift in tone. “I’m the officer handling Miss Emily Anthony’s case. Are you her workplace friend?” he asked, his voice professional yet firm. “Yes,” she replied, anxiety bubbling in her chest. “Okay, your friend borrowed a sum of one million dollars from a lady over the past two months and has refused to pay. Can you come to our station?” the officer explained. Sylvia Luke’s mind raced. A million dollars? What had Emily Anthony gotten herself into? “Where is your office located?” she asked, struggling to keep her voice steady. “Downhills Local Area,” the officer replied. Sylvia Luke muttered an acknowledgment before hanging up. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for whatever awaited her at the station. She grabbed her jacket and hurried out of the house, her pulse quickening with every step. She didn’t see David, her personal driver, in
She scrolled down to the comment section, her heart sinking further as she read the barrage of supportive messages directed at Ruth Slice. The comments flowed in like a tidal wave: “Ruth Slice’s hubby: I know it was that bitch who seduced Mr. Tony. You’re really nice and kind hearted; you even forgive her and call her sister-in-law! That bitch seduces married men!” “Bitchy: Tsk tsk, you are really nice. You gave up easily! I love your courage—thumbs up! You are my role model from now on.” “Ruth Slice’s daddy: she even seduced other people’s men. Watch out for this whore!” “Anonymous: You are so kindhearted; you should not be like that black-hearted bitch. Keep being kind hearted!” Sylvia Luke laughed, amusement mixed with anger as she read the comments. Kind Hearted? she thought bitterly. Although she had no concrete evidence linking Ruth Slice to her earlier troubles, a nagging feeling told her that Ruth Slice had orchestrated much of the chaos in her life. Her instincts h
