LINXARA BROOKE
Suddenly, two of the female cops grabbed my arms on both sides. I struggled to get their hands off me but they didn't move. They were like bricks. It left me wondering how much they have exercised for them to look like this. That aside, I shifted my gaze to the heartless man who refused to listen to me.
"I promise you, I didn't steal your money or your golden wristwatch. I swear to you." I said, hoping he would listen to me but this devil-like man wasn't ready to listen to my bullshit.
"Oh, are you saying that I am a fool? That I was drunk? It was you. You gave me a private service. I paid you, and you still went ahead to do what you want, and now you have to face the consequences. Do you understand that?" He seethed and his face grew even darker.
I felt anger brewing in the depths of my stomach. How else was I going to prove myself to this heartless man? I am a virgin. I have never done such nasty things with him. Who else is going to believe me now?
My boss. My boss, Nicole. She is the only one who can clear my name. I was with her that night. I didn't leave the club until past three in the morning. But with the look of things, I don't think Nicole will ever defend me. In fact, she looked shocked when I was grabbed. She always sees the worst in me. She believes that I was a slut and a prostitute. She can't vouch for me. She will just make me look stupid the more. She will even support these people over me.
"Please ma'am..." I turned to the female police on my right side. "I promise, I didn't do it. I was working on that particular night." I muttered.
"Then who was with him?" The other police at my left voiced out.
"It's.... it's..." I stammered. I don't want to implicate my sister. Even though Vanessa and I aren't on good terms right now, I can't tell on her. She will rot in jail. But I will be free, a tiny voice in my head screamed at me. No! This will even put my mom's health at risk. She will die of depression. She is already sick.
"See? She can't even prove herself innocent!" The man accused. More tears rushed out of my eyes almost blinding me and making my eyes blurry.
"Please, I didn't do it. I wasn't the one." I pleaded.
"Take her! Make her rot in jail with punishment. Torture her until she speaks up and return my property." He instructed them.
"Yes, Mr. Paxton. We will do as you said." One of the female cops said.
"And one more thing. Do not grant her bail." He warned.
So he is Paxton?
"No! You can't do this to me. You can't. I didn't do it." Before I could even say anything else, I was whisked out like a criminal. I was dragged outside.
I didn't know what got into me in seconds, I turned around and extended my legs. I kicked the police woman at my right side in her groin making her fall on the floor. I clenched my fist and landed a blow on the policewoman on my left. I hit her on the nose. I didn't know how I did that but I was sure it was Adrenaline.
I picked a race with my short legs but unfortunately, I wasn't able to get away because an external force had me flying on the ground. It was then I realized something, I didn't just fall. I fell because of something. I turned my head in the direction of my leg.
My left leg was already soaked in a pool of blood. I was shot.
I was shot in the leg. I was bleeding profusely. I cried out in tears.
I could move or walk. The female cops I hurt came for me. Not minding my injured leg, they dragged me up. I was roughly handled that extreme pressure was applied to the leg making it so painful. It was an excruciating pain for me.
I sobbed in pain.
I don't deserve this.
As I was taken to the patrol bus, my eyes met with Paxton, the man who put me in this situation. He didn't even look fazed or affected. I trailed my eyes down to his right hand where a gun was hanging loosely. It dawned on me that he was the one that shot me.
Paxton shot me for a crime I didn't commit. I raised my head to meet his taunting eyes. It was torturous. No emotions. His face was void. Tears rolled out and he only smirked at me.
I turned around slowly as they shoved me into the bus.
Even on the bus, I didn't stop looking at him. It was not until he turned and walked away.
The bus sped off.

It's been two days since I have been here. No food, no water, no affection, nothing. My wound has gotten worse. I can't even speak to my mother. She would be worried by now. It hurts so bad. It will worsen her condition. Not even my so-called twin sister looked for me. Even though she was the reason why I ended up here.
I don't know why my life turned out like this. I don't know why I always have to suffer. I didn't even steal anything. Tons of debts are waiting for me to be sorted out. If I don't find a way to get out of here, something bad might happen to my mother. Our landlord won't hesitate to hire some men to kick my mother out. They will hurt her.
I am scared of the bandits too. They might rob her out.
I have to make some calls.
I have to call Vivian and Nicole. I need to tell Vivian to help watch over my mother while I get this sorted out. I need Nicole to clear my name. I limped over to the cell gate to get the attention of the warder.
"Please, ma'am. I need to make a call." I said.
The woman scoffed. "No! You can't. People like you should rot here." She blurted. I felt a sharp pain in my heart. Hot tears spilled out.
"Please, I am begging you, ma'am. I need to make this call. I can't stay here much longer. My mother is sick and there is nobody to take care of her. She is the only family I have left. Please, ma'am." I sobbed.
She refused, but after begging countless times, she finally agreed, taking pity on me.
"Fine! You have just five minutes. You can't let anyone know about this." She warned.
I nodded with a painful smile. I thanked her, and she slipped on the small phone. I grabbed it and moved further inside.
LINXARA BROOKE "Don't cry! Don't worry about me, Vivian. I will be fine. Just help me take care of my mother, please. Don't let anything bad happen to her. She can't suffer. I promise I will find a way to get out of here. Please, don't tell her I got arrested okay? Just find something to tell her." I pleaded in tears with her. "That twin sister of yours is a devil. She is evil. Can you imagine she hasn't come home since two days ago? I heard from your mother when I went to visit your house yesterday." Vivian blurted angrily. I knew she was mad. "I will take care of myself. Leave Vanessa. She knew she had done something wrong. I just need to put a call through Nicole. Only she can clear my name." I said with tears coming out of my puffy eyes. "I will do what you ask. Please don't cry. I will find a way to calm your mother. I will come to visit soon. But do you think Nicole will clear your name? She won't even do that for anyone. You know how she is. She hates you." I sighed. "Don'

Just as I was about to slice the last piece, I accidentally cut my hand and blood started gushing out. Hot tears rolled out of my eyes. I hurriedly moved over to the running water, washing the blood away. My life has not always been easy. It's either I get yelled at by my boss, Nicole or I cut myself with a knife or somethings else should happen. Something must happen in everyday of my life. I am not that lucky as my twin sister, Vynessa Brooke. She is lucky and she gets everything she wants either by nook or cranny. I can't do what she does honestly. She is a stripper at the same club I work. I am a waitress in the day and a bartender at night. I am in no position to judge
