GENEVIEVE

Me and Janice returned home, the familiar creak of the old wooden door signaling our arrival. We stepped into the grand foyer, its marble floors gleaming under the chandelier's soft light.

Laughter floated through the air, guiding us towards the living room. There, we found our father, smiling warmly, surrounded by Rosalind, and Olivia and Emma, all seated in a circle of camaraderie.

"Genevieve,"

Rosalind called out, her voice a mix of surprise and sternness. I ignored her completely, hating her presence. Janice gave me a soft pat on my back and I sighed, turning to dad.

"Father,"

I began, my voice steady,

"I’ve made a decision. I want to join the company as CEO, as the true heir."

A hush fell over the room, the surprise evident on the faces of Olivia and Emma. Rosalind’s eyes narrowed, her smile fading.

I knew my this decision was a big shock for Rosalind specially. She did not expect me to take the position for which she was preparing Olivia.
