Chapter 16— A discussion

Calvin's POV

My hold around the phone tightened the more as I listened to the video. “It was a contract marriage. He wanted to marry me for a particular purpose I don't know. But after running away, my sister filled in the place for me.” That little girl had said.

And at the end of the video, I saw her with Jayden, making my blood boil.

Why today of all days? When I was just about to sign the contract. When I was just about to carry out the main reason behind the goddamn marriage.

Anger coursed deep through my veins before Cora spoke, “I'm sorry, okay? I'm just going to deal with it.”

“Enough!” My hand hit the seat and she shook, “why didn't you tell me? Why the hell am I just finding out? Is that the secret you were hiding from me?”

“I'm sorry, I just thought it wasn't necessary,”

And at once, I reached for her jaw while her eyes widened, “and have you seen it's necessary? First, I found out you were a divorcee from someone else. Not from you,” I released her jaw and exhaled.
